In those days people didn't count Grand Slams as the only way to measure a great player. For example, most are unaware that Borg couldn't play the French in 1977 because he was contracted to play the Team Tennis circus in the States (and, of course, only played the Australian once as the Masters in New York was the one all the big players played then) All this has been forgotten. For me, Borg is the greatest in the Open era
