  • I wouldnt like to try errect them seperatly ok if you dont intent hooking the inner back when the outer is erected, if your worried about whats underneath and need to put up in hurry, the best way would be to put up both together as normal then get inside unclip inner sort out your floor then hook in back in or leave it and use your bivy.

  • did you say that the akto outer fly sheet can be erected on its own?

as trying to keep the weight down!

    cheers. ro11ing

  • @ro11ing Aye, it can be put up with the fly and pole and pegs. No inner.

I've done that a couple of times, not for weight savings, but because the ground has been so poor that the groundsheet of the inner would have been damaged. I then used a bivvy-bag.

As to weight-saving, if you're intending sleeping under a tarp, a tarp would be lighter. From what I have seen, it would pack up smaller too.

In my case, it was nice to be out of the rain, under the flysheet.

  • Necessity is the mother of invention.

  • simple idea,I will try to remember this next time!
