The difficulty is in what may be termed as a benefit to society. Freedom is valued in society but how it benefits, depends upon whether other rights are upheld. Are we paparazzi getting our snaps or are we merely library users whispering in the isles? We're definately not criminals. The hacks at 20th Century Fox aren't the only ones with rights and the market and/or artistic leverage to secure those rights. If a Fox movie plays in the theatre and no one is there, who has top billing? Universal.
" Benefiting the society more than it hurting the copyright owner" If that's the case, how can the copyright holder trust in the act to protect their artworks or forms of content to be distributed the way they want it to? & Does this even help the filmmakers distribute their material to any available media/medium?
Exactly what is being respected here? The artist's work, or their rights to work?
@CodenameLegacy copyright was never intended to be a shield for Liars & con men. & thats what happens FAR too often! as with LDS INC & the MORmONS. they go around making mad stupid lies & when anyone calls them out they deny making the statements. when someone uses their own material as a direct cite for proof & reference they start up with copyright claims!
All I say is that does copyright really promote the creations? No. Nowadays, companies are abusing copyright to try to take as much rights away from consumers.
What about HellSing920's deletion from the YouTube, simply is because he is expressing about the copyrighted materials the way he looks. Look, YOUTUBE. If there's no fair use, there's no culture.
"benefits society more than it hurts the copyright holder"
That is an assinine statement so vague as to render it either toothless or tyrannical depending on who looks at it. All it takes is for some schmuck to tell me that I won't REALLY be hurt if society is helped by using (stealing) the things I've worked for.
A few more decisions like this and ATLAS SHRUGGED can be moved into the nonfiction section.

I love this! The only way we can protect our rights, is to exercise them and stand up for them.
