  • Adi Talam.....?!?!?

  • hahaha COOL sound hahh

  • Sounds nothing like the diesels of this day

  • Do you know Samba?

  • I think its facing severe ignition lag or piston valve synchronization lag. That's why it is making noncontinuous sounds.

Anyways it should be admired that this engine is still running today. Great engine and great video.

  • @Saranaprasadam

The ignitions is ok, there is no regulator. When the rpm is too high, the inlet valve says closed. Than the rpm lowers, when the rpm is too low, the inlet valve opens again, and the engine takes its mixture of petrol and air and burns. It's named hit and miss.

  • @stengine AFAIR hit&miss engines leave the outlet valve open during coasting cycles and no gas air mixture comes through the inlet valve. The inlet valve is in this a simple spring loaded valve and not actively operated.

You may correct me, I'd be glad about...

  • @WvBraun

There are different types of hit@miss. The Benz leaves the inlet valve not operated, when the rpm is too high. The oulet valve opens and closes every 2 cycles (4-stroke).

  • i have seen one of these in an orchard not long ago, still useful I guess

  • what would this be used for?

  • superb quietness

  • Fantastic!

Never heard such a great sound in all my life!

  • haha that sounds so awesome

  • Thats a very nice Engine with great sound!

Sent a video with a other Benz & Spol stationary engine.

    5* from Bidone

  • That is a music machine...

  • I also think so.

  • Is that background music or the engine itself? Cool :)

  • It's the engine itself. It's running very quiet and hit and miss.

  • These were made by L. Benz & spol., Třebíč, Moravia (now part of the Czech Republic). From the pictures of similar engines I've seen it looks like they have a downdraft carburetor which sits almost right on top of the cylinder head. Most have a low-tension ignitor for ignition.

  • One of the sweetest sounding engines I've heard here on YT.

The original finishes, the carriage, all add to the beauty.

Would enjoy a walk-around of the engine when you have time.

I'll subscribe to keep up with your additions.

    Thanks from Miami, Fl.

  • love that sound!

  • Indeed, it's one of my nicest and silentliest running engines.

    Tanks for watching !!!
