I Love my FC but I would still take a VR-4 in a heartbeat. It was my frist love that got me into cars. FD's are great cars but just because the 3KGT has some weight doesn't mean it is slow. In a straight line the VR-4 > RX-7 but I can't say the same thing for the turns. The 7 has 50/50 weight distrabution so I don't even need to slow down when making hard turns. It handels like a dream

3000gt vr4 runs you newhere from 20-25k in good condition. lambos are 100k plus. do the math, its not that hard to get the money to get a vr4, just time and effort to find one in excellent condition.
I know what they cost about the same as a good FD if not more. I was just using those as an example. Have fun with your VR-4 if you have it cause I have a great time in my RX-7

The engine displacement on a rotary doesn't matter as much, it's a different technology so that arguement falls short, although I'd take a VR-4 anyday (I own an SL) If you wanna race the best model of RX-7, try taking on like a 97 VR-4 instead of the junk 1st gen VR-4's and you'd notice a big difference.
watch the vid "sending rx7 to rotary hell". watch how long they have the engine pegged at 9k without blowing and call a rotary a glass motor afterwards.

Actually inline 6's and v12s are the ONLY motors that are perfectly balanced. How long after him holding that 9k do you think irreversible damage was ALREADY DONE to the motor? I give it 60 seconds.
wrong, i6's r not perfectly balanced, close, but not perfect, they experience a slight case of crank whip, which is much more noticable on i8's. and V engines are not perfectly balanced to begin with, the physics arent there to make it balanced. the most closely balanced engine is a flat 6. neither of us examined the engine before and after so you don't know what damage and wehn it was dealth. assuming things is stupid.
By the way, shortly after this vid, that 7 cracked a rotor. He got a fresh reman motor from mazda, 4 months later the apex rings fried. He sold the car.
There are COUNTLESS horror stories like this, and you know it, but all it takes is ONE spectacle of revving to 9k (which is easy for thoose motors anyhow) to then disproove the ENDLESS list of guys who diddnt get so IMMESURABLY lucky, who trashed thier motors just driving to work, or just a quick boost around a corner?

not faster, no difference in speed, possibily a 3000gt faster, dunno if US 3000GT has 13b's but euro does and GTO has 9b's (slightly smaller, almost all Jap imports have between 46k and 60k miles a bit suspicious when you think of the fact that converting them to miles from KM they can put in any number they want.
smaller ceramic turbos r for response but the US wud rather hav a bigger HP # on the stock brochure so the add the big turbos n say its faster. maybe top speed but nuthin else. the mileage is about rite becuz of japanese vehicle laws. u hav to get a very expensive permit every 2 years becuz of emmissions n its sumtims mor than the cars worth plus everyone walks n takes buses. its cheaper. thats y they sell their cars to outside countries n buy a new car after 2 years

Funny; I wasn't leaving a negative note, we had a early 1992 Black on Tan, it probably ran a 5.8 and 14.3ish at 100 or so. I just thought it could have been a ton faster with better gearing. I have to admit for 1991 it was super fast.
a healthy stock vr4 should go way below a low 13 and def not even close to a 1.8 60, I have a stock base 3000gt that runs low 13's, one would think a vr4 would run faster than a base gt.
There is no way you have a base 180bhp 3000GT that runs a low 13s in the quarter... I have a VR4 and when it was still basically stock (around 290whp) I ran low 13s. You either have never actually taken your car to a track or you don't even have the car at all
Well it depends... the later years of the 3000GT saw the addition of a SOHC V6 that only put out something like 182hp at the crank. I was referring to that car as the base one in my previous comment.

vrifts how do you figure its faster cause its "JDM"? lol in japan theres a rule about cars having no more than 280hp (crank hp) from the factory. the gto tt has 280hp that makes them slower. first gens here stateside make 300crank horsepower second and third gens make 320.
and that 3000 dollar car "deal" is a rip off. dont get scammed. you were probably looking at a halfcut for a jdm motor and frontclip...

haha u obviously dont kno much about jdm. its called the gentlemens agreement. u shud look it up. they hav to lie in order to import. it's rilly closer to 320hp but response is much quicker so its faster till u hit the wall. y do u think they say the nsx n skyline n supra is only 280. those cars r not even close to 280

It is all based on opinion I like RX-7's but I would defiantly take a 3KGT over a FD but that is just me. Don't take you insecurity's out on Spider-man you POS.

Outcome was obvious. RX-7 was the lightest of all the Japanese sport cars, the 3000 GT probably the heaviest. Even stock the RX-7 would have won.

if you want a cheap 3000gt, get a mitsubishi gto instead. they are the japanese version and look exactly the same except theyr faster n way cheaper because theyr jdm. they will be in better condition too becuz of japanese ways. search for jdm cars n gto's n u can find sum for only $3000 shipping included with only like 60,000 miles. now thats a deal! but dont tell anyone or everyone will hav one

not faster, no difference in speed, possibily a 3000gt faster, dunno if US 3000GT has 13b's but euro does and GTO has 9b's (slightly smaller, almost all Jap imports have between 46k and 60k miles a bit suspicious when you think of the fact that converting them to miles from KM they can put in any number they want.

smaller ceramic turbos r for response but the US wud rather hav a bigger HP # on the stock brochure so the add the big turbos n say its faster. maybe top speed but nuthin else. the mileage is about rite becuz of japanese vehicle laws. u hav to get a very expensive permit every 2 years becuz of emmissions n its sumtims mor than the cars worth plus everyone walks n takes buses. its cheaper. thats y they sell their cars to outside countries n buy a new car after 2 years

I had a VR4, not that quick, huge gaps in gearing, 3rd went to 115!. I regularly got beat by a 87 stock convertible corvette with the 4+3 manual.

Funny; I wasn't leaving a negative note, we had a early 1992 Black on Tan, it probably ran a 5.8 and 14.3ish at 100 or so. I just thought it could have been a ton faster with better gearing. I have to admit for 1991 it was super fast.

a healthy stock vr4 should go way below a low 13 and def not even close to a 1.8 60, I have a stock base 3000gt that runs low 13's, one would think a vr4 would run faster than a base gt.

There is no way you have a base 180bhp 3000GT that runs a low 13s in the quarter... I have a VR4 and when it was still basically stock (around 290whp) I ran low 13s. You either have never actually taken your car to a track or you don't even have the car at all

The NON-Turbo FWD ones are 222hp. The AWD Twin Turbo ones are 300-320hp.

Well it depends... the later years of the 3000GT saw the addition of a SOHC V6 that only put out something like 182hp at the crank. I was referring to that car as the base one in my previous comment.

they put 162 hp and 181 lbs feet. those were only used in base models from 97+. sl and vr4 carried the dohc cam versions yet, that never changed.
