The difference between Sachin and Don, Don was actually knighted you dumb fucking indians because he achieved something sooo great that no cricketer will never achieve (atleast for my natural fucking life)
yer im proud to say im aussie because of people like him, he was the best batsman in the world, no one to this day has ever been as good as Sir Don although tendulka is almost but he is almost retired', so hell never ever be as good as him, Donald Bradman is the best man i've ever seen.
I think lara is better than tendulkar, On what grounds did you guys ever thought about comparing tendulkar with bradman. Tendulkar has to get over lara from the same league. Sir donald bradman was in another league which never comparable, he was by far the greatest batsman of all time.
Does tendulkar have a staggering 99.94 test average, no Did tendulkar played in an era with no helmets no Did tendulkar score 2 double century almost in every match no. Does tendulkar suck like shit yes!!
Do you know what kind of bowlers were there in that era, you have no idea. One of the bowlers that took 19 out of 20 wickets in test match. Sacchin is not even better than viven richards. Bradman is in another league. The fact that his test average was 99.94 and first class 95.14 shows that even if he was in this era, he would have scored that much. If he wasnt that great than why the second best player in that era average in 50s and everyone had to play those balls. BRADMAN IS BEST EVER
back then sonny, cricket was only played with like two to three nation teams. and those teams were pretty brutal. some of them probably faster than akhtar. now, everyone whose comparing just shut up. 6000plus runs in 52 matches is insane. especially getting those runs with a 99.94 average. bradman = what a pimp!
There will never be another Tendulkar,Warn,Richards etc. They are all great players and worthy of such accolades.Different players dominate in different eras.It is difficult to compare runs scored, hundreds made or wickets taken b/n different generations as times are different. Averages tell the story – imagine if he was a full-time professional without the 3-4 years off due to WWII. At the end of the day there will never be another on Bradman or will there be another cricketer like him.
Don is a great player. But why do ppl bring comparison with Sachin? Look at the balls in this video. Do you call it fast bowling? Even people in Indian streets bowl faster than that these days. Come on guys. Cricket evolved over time. Don was from very early stages of cricket. 99.94 average??? so what? How many different countries he played against? How many different tracks? How many of them were as top rated as Waquar,Wasim, McGrath, Shane warne,Donald and list goes on......
"This movie is just a quick video of Donald G Bradman for all those aussies." -- Why just for aussies? :) Everyone that watches cricket would wow the Don!
most of you indian fans are not real cricket fans. A real cricket fan will give credit where its due as in appreciate another team or players performances who you don't even support because a real cricket fan wants to see great quality cricket played even if this means you don't always win or have the best players. As australians we wanted australia to win the 2010 ashes but we lost because england played some outstanding cricket and we give credit to them where its due.
Most of you australian fans doesn't take the given respect properly. Who said Don is not a great player.? What if some one else says he is not? Why do you want every Indian to come and respect DON? Do you think DON is great only if every one of Indians give him proper respect? We like Sachin, you people like DON. Let's live with it. Don't beg for respect from all the indians?
@JAMMYZURICH I understand what your saying, but also don't get me wrong I don't care whether you like him or not, i was more referring to many indian fans who trash him like he's nothing and saying he'd be an amateur today. If he played today he would grow up with modern technology, therefore be as good today as he was then.
I don't care if you think Sachin is better, i have a lot of respect for tendulkar to, great player, great person. But that doesn't mean you should take away from Bradman.
@CFAN123 I never take away from Bradman. What I am saying is Indians do respect others...we appreciate not just Bradman but also every other great player not just from India but from every other country and from every other game as well....But there are ass holes every where in India and also in Australia (Did you read the article from Ian Chapel suggesting Sachin to retire in 2007?) When you enjoy Dan and I enjoy Sachin, lets just enjoy cricket...forget about the assholes....they never matter.
i just don undrstand Y ppl hail bradman..wht did tht fucker do?? 99.9 avg?? fuck it assholes..against whom?? just larwood..is tht ur best call?? he is just an avg fuck whom bradman tamed all his life long.der was NO Mc Grath.NO wasim.NO Waqar.NO Warne.NO Donald..NO Aus fielding attack..NO SA fielding attack..NO RHODES..just 1 team..for 20 yrs..tht too B grade English bowling?? B grade english fielding.FUCK URSELF BRADMAN.play ipl.play odi.score 51 test centuries.BARE the burden of > 1 billion.
mr ciricket lover who did ur sir played over n over same bowler same pitches.. i think gavaskar was best against pacers than sachin.. and i don;t bradman no where against todays bowling attack
I find it hard to understand some of the comments here.
Sure, Tendulkar is a genius; but to say that Don Bradman is not far and away the best batsman ever is akin to saying the Earth doesn't go around the Sun.
As an Englishman however, I must just mention the 2010 Ashes. Fantastic!
don' take credit away from tendukar. He has played quality cricket for 20 years scored against every team on every sort of surface against the most hostile bowling attack The guy is a genius orshould i call him' master'. 35000 firs class runs and counting. r u seriously saying that bradman was better than sachin. bradman played againt england who till this date are rubbish. people please be realistic when comparing people because here the comparison does not make any sense.sachin is immortal

@evantock Ha ha ha, you're kidding right? I rate Tendulkar very highly but Bradman's record is untouchable. I repeat my earlier statement; if it was so easy to score runs in Bradman's day then where are the rest of the hyper-inflated averages? Not to mention Bradman's conversion rate. 12 50's to 29 hundreds including 12 double hundreds which is still a record even though he played approx half the innings that modern players play. Your bias clouds your judgement.
How can anyone think that Tendulkar is better than Bradman? The idea is ludicrous. it is arguable that Sachin is not even the greatest of his generation. Experts will continue to argue about the 'number 2 greatest ever batsman', be it: Sobers, Lara, Ponting, Hammond, Tendulkar, Hobbs, Pollock, Richards, Chappell etc. What is inarguable is that the number 1 is Bradman. The stats don't lie. If it was so easy to bat in Bradmans time, then why did more people not average upwards of 50?
Same goes for Viv Richards and all the other great batsmen of this sport from the various eras. I am just saying that comparisons are basically useless speculations. Bradman's feats are unparalleled as are his amazing stats, so if that alone is your qualification, then yes he is the 'best' whatever significance it has.
I don't get how you morons are going to compare Sachin Tendulkar and Bradman, there is no comparison because they played at different times when equipment, venues and bowling skills were significantly different. All I am going to say is that both are the best batsmet of their respective times. Anyone who is foolish enough to compare these two is just being silly. Appreciate and respect both and don't be idiotic enough to say one of them is better without a qualifier of some sort.
Don Bradman is by far the best player to pick up a cricket bat and all of the stats prove it. he was still able to average 99.94 when or half of his career he was sick from the world war.
so sachin has scored 1200o+ runs, ayks17. how many tests has he played to get those runs? That's why it's called an "average" son. Bradman played on uncovered wickets, 8 ball overs, with very little protective gear, against bowlers that have been proven by science to be as quick as what we have today. There were more quality spinners then, than what we have now too. How the hell can you say Sachin is better?? Even Sachin has said there is only one Bradman.
Don bradman was really a DON of cricket..nd i tel u no one can be ther for competition with him....not even sachin....nd those who is not beliving this can see the interview of sachin, wer he has also said that if he was ther at the time of Don, than he wunt last this much....
Dear Indians, u only like indian cricket and indian plyrs.u r not real cricket fans. u dont care about world cricket. i am a indian , and i like world cricket so my fav team is not india. and i watch every single cricket even ban vs zim........ how dare u say that sachin is greater than bradman.y u compare sachin to bradman.can sachin bat without a helmet and score a 100 avg! no.............but Bradman did. So, plz respect HIM.......
Sir Don Bradman is the best and Sachin is the second.
@8DALE@8DALE although your point about comparing sachin and bradman is correct I would just like to make a note on the rest of it.
Playing without helmet is not a sign of a good batsmen. given a helmet most batsmen would have worn it, especially on fast bouncy tracks. The helmet in its modern form is a relatively new invention. It is a safety issue not an issue of talent.
@8DALE Not trying to discredit Don, but do you realise the fielding in that era was sub-par and had set pieces. He was 2-3 DECADES ahead of his time in terms of pure style of playing, in addition to his genius. .
Lastly, saying "Dear Indians" and continuing with Indian bashing is a dangerous generalization. I doubt your being Indian but you are not the only one who feels that Don Bradman is the best cricket batsmen till date. Typifying an entire country on your insular opinion is incorrect.
@8DALE. Ha ha ha u enjoyer of real cricket?? Bradman is a who had never played ODI or t20 in life time. I dare to say SACHIN as th best of all Cricketers till now. And I dare dare dare dare dare dare to say Bradman as a crap. Even Aussie players like Waugh brothers,Ponting are all better than the OLD SHIT Bradman.
@TheSangam01 the disgusting crowd behaviour at the commonwealth games suggests that India has a lot to learn about sport. As an Englishman I can tell you that there is absolutely no question that Bradman was the greatest ever in the world's mind. Showing respect for others achievements is one of the most important aspects, if you can't do that then you cannot truly understand. The whole point of sport is that no matter who you are, or where you come from, your performance is appreciated.
and you are the worst. So what if you see every cricket match that is ever played? Why are begging for Indians giving respect for Don. If you like Don it should be independent of whether or not Indians respect him. How can you even compare Don with Sachin. Their time periods are so different, conditions are different, situations are different, amount of analysis oppositions put on players is so much today and that is aided by technology as well...
Look Sachin's first few matches, He was playing without Helmet only. I believe it was right after he got hit and bleeding but still playing by the Waquar Yunis ball against Pakistan after that It was logical for him to play with Helmet... and I personally don't believe playing with helmet or without make any differences. Next is I also don't believe that world cricket started in bradman's era. It was around 1980's when other countries involved and Cricket developed. Sachin > Bradman
@8DALE : dude...no 1 disrespects Sir Don. da point is v jus feel dat sachin us better than him......even im a cricket buff jus like u....n I DARE TO SAY DAT SACHIN IS BETTER THAN SIR DON......u want comparison?? den fine....bradman has played 54 tests only....sachin has played 177 tests with 453 odi's n couple of t20's...he has played cricket for continuous 22 years...99 100's..PLUS HE CARRIES MORE THAN A BILLION "CRAZY" EXPECTATIONS EACH N EVERY TIME HE GOES OUT TO BAT..
@sawantpraveen you mean to say that population leads to pressure.By that means players coming from small countries dont deserve to be great .Means all carribean greats were just oridnary players because they dont had cricket crazy billion people.Srinath is better player than Ambrose because Ambrose didnt had 1 billion expectations.Pressure is always of a country never of population it is always of a county
@8DALE : also against how many teams has bradman played?? jus 4..n among dem only england were gud..which means only 3-4 world class bowlers..don has played 72% of 52 tests against one team...how many teams sachin has played against? wit da video technology da bowlers know where to bowl to batsmen...i can go on and on abt da comparison but ill stop...:P no doubt Sir Don was n wil stil remain one of da best batsmen ever to play dis game..but he comes after sachin..
and back then they use to play just a few teams and the comptetion was not even that much. today sachin is facing quality bowlers from all around the world.
bradman made 6000 in 52 tests, sachin played like 160. Sachin Play's on covered wickets, bradman did not. Bradman played against bodyline without protective equipment Sachin did not. Everyone outside of Aus/Ind say that Bradman was unquestionably the best batsmen ever to play. Anyone that says he wasn't is an idiot.
What do you mean all he faced were medium paced bowlers? Im pretty sure players like Harold Larwood could bowl just as fast as Brett Lee. Learn the history before you comment on it retard. Oh, and he had to face body-lining, im pretty sure no players today have to face shit like that. Did you know his batting average would have easily been in the 100's if it wasn't for the 1932/33 bodyline series. Retard...
some quality shots in there. Lots to learn about how to use the crease as a batsman. What a cover drive the first one was (that is what it seemed like)
Never compare people in sports. Everybody has a personal opinion. Compare according to the eras. That would be fair to each player. But downplaying someone just because you think your fav is the best is complete disrespect to Sir Don or any other player.
i think he hit 6 sixes in his entire international test career. i think that's not a factor in the fact that he is the greatest batsman of all time. adam gilchrist and chris cairnes had a lot of sixes in their career, but they are not the best batsman technically. Bradman was great batsman.
for me he is a piece of shit..great batsman my ass! he is an old scumbag..look at his study..this aussie(criminals) says he is a great player and the rest of the mother fuckers just carrying their smelly balls and singing hallelujah..shame on you guys..the best batsmen ever are sachin tendulkar, brian lara, mathew hayden, ricky ponting, aravinda desilva, alwyn kalicharan, rahul dravid, gary kirsten, saeed anwar and sir viv richards
who do you think you are mate? bradman played in a totally different era to those guys you just mentioned and on top of dominating cricket at that stage he brought hope and relief to not just Australians but to people all over the world, have some respect
Bradman is THE BEST! There should be no debate about that. The man was a freak! He could hit a golf ball against glass with a stump, over and over and over and over again! The man was a genius.
(Part 6) like mid-twenties. Talent beats any era, Bradman is the king. Who cares about 100 Tests, he was lucky to play 52, nearly died remember!! It is said the war kept his career going as his body was shot & during 1938 when he tore the cricket world apart, he was going to retire. Recently, Hussey scored his record 1000 runs in 13 tests, Bradman did it in 14, Hussey has done nothing since, Bradman killed them afterwards. His 452no for NSW, was scored at a run a minute, some talent. KING
(Part 5) he would be a revelation at No:3 in Test & One Day games. This is a guy who averaged 45 runs an hour in his career! He played against the games greatest players: Hammond (another giant), Hobbs, Compton, Hutton, Sutcliffe, Leyland, Wooley, George Headley, (Don played against the West Indies too). Dont forget his was a champion at tennis, billiards (beat Lindrum), squash & was playing off a 5 handicap at golf at the age of 84, winning tournaments. Ponting, Lara play off 5 & they were
(Part 4) playing County Cricket Matches? Answer: 1 Only 1 - Don Bradman!!! Not even the Master (my hero) Viv Richards can claim that, he is the only Modern Master that is in the 100, 100's & he played alot of CCM. Bradman also killed them at State Level. Richie Benaud saw Don play in 1938 where he scored 232no & to this day he will tell you that DG Bradman is the greatest of all. He would have adapted to the modern game, less hookes & pulls, but more gap shots, drives & cuts. He would be a
(Part 3): tghj001 your argument of 56 is todays 28 is rubbish - seriously. They played on uncovered, greenish wickets, rain hail or shine. Nowdays the batsman played on the Sahara, a joke really, boundaries have been roped, not fence & bats let anyone who touches any part of the bat go for six!!! 56 back then is probably 90 now. You must remember it is Don's talent not what he scored that makes him the greatest. Technique. Also, how many players have scored 100 1st Class Centuries without
(Part 2) so the experts analysed. He did play against England, who during the 30's to 1975 were Very Strong. Bradman played against South Africa, India & Murdered them. Sure in Bodyline he averaged (as you say) ONLY 56, but that WAS CLEARLY THE HIGHEST ON BOTH TEAMS By 10!!! There were no thighpads, helmets, chest guards & the bodyline leg theory field was set.Hence not Tendulkar, Ponting, whoever would have done any better. Read up on leg theory, examine the field placings,no wonder banned!
Great Video, really highlights the greatest of them all. tghj001, what you forget is that Wisden, ESPN & every notable judges (IE: expert panel spanning generations) voted Don as the No:1 of all time. It doesnt matter your factualising it, he IS NO:1. The reason being that he averaged over 100 (most of his career span 112). The others around 50. In a bell curve, each generation, the same no. of batsmen average 50. It is true he may not have averaged 99.94 nowdays, it would have been 85...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Here is my opinion about bradman - He was indeed a good player but to say he was the greatest of all time is somewhat exaggerated. The candidates should be either Lara, Richards, Ponting or Tendulkar. Those times there were basically two teams playing england and australia - Bradman milked english bowlers for runs. He played either in Aus or Eng and nowhere else. Also, if you are not blinded you can clearly see runs were easy to come by back then and bowlers looked pedestrian..
The reason Don is so famous was because English and Aussies praised and wrote about him so much that he became an unsaid legend for generations to come. He does not even belong to the class of Ponting, Richards, Lara, or Tendulkar . The aussies should stop talking about him being the greatest now. Aussies are very good in analysing the contemporary players; come out with stats, never heard of, but when it comes to Bradman they refuse to analyze his stats or the bowlers he faced.
Bradman lovers, please tell me what's so special in this guy hitting the ball, that makes you go so crazy about him. Why do you people refuse to accept any of your contemporaries cricketers who really sweat it out for every run they scored, facing the greatest bowlers ever in cricket. Really dumb ppl...
Wrong again! Of the top 25 wisden bowlers in the history of game, he played only against 1. The others happened to be either aussies or not during his time. He was lucky to be born in a generation when there were not genuinely quick or did not play due to the world war..
Simple reason: Majority of cricket was played only between england and austtralia. Out of his 52 test he played 37 against england. On the other hand England players had to face those top quality aussie bowlers and he did not. Other teams he played against were WI, India and SA and did not face too many good bowlers. One bowler he faced AV Bedser troubled him a lot he averages 54 against him. This is what I beleive his average shoudl have been if he plaed like his contemporaries like Ponting.
In terms of speed they were just as fast. Harold Larwood was one of the fastest of all time. The pitches then were uncovered as well which was a GREAT DISADVANTAGE to batsmen. Protective equipment was also poor and helmets didn't exist, which meant short balls had to be ducked and couldn't be hooked or pulled as easily. Longer boundries as well back then, because there were no ropes. Teams like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe weren't around to expoit either. Bradman today would be the GREATEST.
His 17 tests where he scored really heavily 150+ average was against india, SA and WI - the then Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Why would uncovered be such a great disadvantage. Protective equipment really did not really matter because amount of short pitched stuff wasnt that much. Well short boundries dont make too much difference becauase batsman like lara, tendulkar, richards or pontings boundries stay hit on any ground.
If batting was so easy back then how come other Australian batsmen at the time were only averaging in the 30's. Even Australians agree that Ponting shouldn't be spoken about in the same sentence as Bradman - Pontings good but Bradman stands out in a league of his own. The amount of shortpitched stuff was more mate, havn't you heard about bodyline. On the incosistant unvcovered pitches of the day batting was very dangerous.
30ss?? Are you kidding me? woodfull, ponsford, Ryder all averaged in 50s. If Bradman were to play over 100 test, his average would surely be less. Aussies are blinded about Bradman like indians about Tendulkar. Bodyline series only happened once for 5 tests 1932-33 where bradman averages 56 only. Also, its widely known bradman didnt hook at all and moved to leg side when short pitched and cut the bowl to off side. Only after 5 test bradman bowled bouncers were banned by MCC.
Bouncers were never banned by the MCC. Man u kno nothin about crickets history whatsoever. Bouncers are still bowled now if u havnt realised. But bodyline has been banned. And what u mean 56 only, thats still awesome especially for those times. The other players u named above were greats too and only a few exceptions. Look at everyone else's average. Bradman stood out too far ahead mate, im sorry
I was talking about bodyline bouncers not regular bouncers. Of course, they are allowed these days. Bradmans 56 back then is todays 28. Now unless youve got something sensible to say, this discussion is over mate..
by far the best eva regardless. You can't hold his era and the time he played against him because other batsmen back then averaged a lot less than batsmen do now which means that if he played now he'd average way over 120. He would see the benefits of batsmen friendly conditions, better bats, covered pitches, poor opposition like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and of course shorter boundries. He'd prolly average around 130 at least in this era.
None of your reasoning is true. Bradman was a smart guy and knew how to put the ball to the bat really well when bowled at a lousy pace. I am sure one bowl from lee would have bust his bowls in a jiffy.
Not true. He played only against england 37 tests, 5 against Inida, 5 against Wi and 5 against SA - He milked these 3 for his average. Also, if you look at the status none of the english bowlers except 1 he faced was in Wisden top 25. He played against theem so much that he milked them. His average in current terms would be around 50 after giving him the benefit of the doubt.
None of them are in Wisdens top 25 only because of Bradman, he destroyed any of their chances. How can you saw his average now would be 50 when everyone is averaging in the 40's and 50's. Other good batsmen then were averaging in the low 30's and 40's. Tony Greig asked Andrew Symonds how much the quality of bats had improved over his career. Symonds laughed and replied "Mate, they've improved tremendously over the last 5 years. If Bradman had a modern day piece of willow he'd average over 110
haha Alright, your first line was a great joke becauase he destroyed their chances. He scored only 6000 runs and played 37 tests agains them only.. lol.. Dont believe anything symond says - hes stupid.. BTW, if bradman couldnt lift heavy bats its not laras or pontings fault. He looked pretty frail to me in this video..
I knew Don Bradman, lived in the same suburb in Adelaide in the late 80's. He was quite a miserable man who really liked to liked to lick the scrotums of young men the sweatier the better.
Yes, the fast bowlers and batsmen may be better in today's cricket with sports science greater improving abilities, but you have to realise that "THE DON" would also be able to benefit from these technological advances therefore also adapting his play to today's game.
"THE DON" also had about double the test average of Tendulkar with a piece of willow that was a third of the size.
In closing you can't dispute a guy that used to hit a golf ball against a water tank using a cricket stump for fun
today would have been don bradman's 100th birthday. on the same day as me. obviously he was 30years older that me but when i had that bat in my hand i thought i could have once been him maybe...
The video isn't that great but the thought is much appreciated. Cheers to all you guys keeping the Don's memory alive!! I am of Indian Origin and a big Tendu fan (who isn't lol) but I admire the passion and SKILL of this guy.People who say bradman played in a different era to modern greats so we can't be sure he is world class, lets not forget he ended up with an average of 99 with a great strike rate, all this without helmets and protection!
there is absolutley no denying, that even if there were small differences back then our don bradman was an amazing batsman, freaking freaking freaking aamazing and the grass used on pitches etc. will never ever change that. that's lyk saying that ian thorpe isnt a good swimmer because dawn fraser never wore a thorpedo swim suit so she'd prob be just as good if she had or some shit. get over it don bradman is the best thing that happened to australia in the depths of depression
We'll never really know how the Don woldhave compared to modern greats since he played so long ago. The only sensible comparison you can make is that both the Don and Tendulkar captured the imagintion of the public like no one else of their generation. I am almost the same age as Sachin and have followed his career with fascination since the beginning. The way he bats and the purity of his strokes is simple mesmerizing. So for me its the Don and Sachin as the best batsmen of all time!
uno at dat time the pitches and the games where quite slow is it was easier 2 bat dan bowl.......also i have heard dat in dose days there was unlimited days 2 play test cricket i dunno if its true or not...........no doubt his a excellent batsman
The only ever true genius the game has ever known.
There are a few pretenders (see other previous comments!) - but there will most likely only ever be one Don Bradman.
I was privileged enough to meet Sir Len Hutton when I was 13. I remember asking him, because I was young and cocky (and loved cricket), who he thought was the greatest ever cricketer. This kindly old man, this legend in his own right, seemed to me to be talking about his own hero when he did not hesitate to say: 'Only the Don'.
i don't understand what this means: "if you have sold your brains to a whore then shut the fuck up"....could you explain, or is it just british nonsense...and fuck the Oxford top 200, i aint no Brit.
I think it is a moot point to compare players across generations, especially when they more than 5 decades apart. You need to compare players among their peers. Going by that standard, Tendulkar, Lara, and Ponting standout in this generation. No one of these three dominated the other two completely. Going by that standard Bradman completely dominated his peers. No one came close to his performance during that decade. There was no question who was #1 during those two decades.
Sachin is better than Don any day... no comparision. Don played with just a couple of teams max... Symonds "The Monkey" plays better than Don i.e modern day batsman is tested time and again agaist various teams and bowlers. IMagine Don playing against the likes of Walsh, Akram, Murali, Hadlee etc compared with may be couple of English and WI bowlers of his time.
soundtrack was terrible, and the wording was pointless and unnecessary . just show clips of the great man without trying to steal the show with your annoying comments e.g. 'thats a nice sweep'... i think we can tell
vineetbadhwar said that indian was the richest country befroe the english invasion!!!AHAHAHAHAHAH calcutta!!!! ahahahahahahahaha. and this isnt the time before the english invasion it is now!!! and sydney was rated the 1 city to live in!!!

man but the fat bowlers in the 1930-40s didnt swing or seam it as much and the wrongun wasnt even developed, let alone the doosra, no wonder this fool has such a high avg
if bowling was that easy to play, then why did no 1 come even close to him? Surely there would`ve been a few batsman around that mark. But no, there was one standout. Greatest batsman ever.
The difference between Sachin and Don, Don was actually knighted you dumb fucking indians because he achieved something sooo great that no cricketer will never achieve (atleast for my natural fucking life)

@mabeg11 did bradman play against shane warne,shoaib akhtar,brett lee,mcgra,murli ???????
if sachin had been in dons era his avg would have been even more than 100.
because there was'nt any gr8 bowler like we hade in late 80's,90's, and 00...
it speaks 4r itself...

At the end of the day there will never be another on Bradman or will there be another cricketer like him.
kingstj1 9 months ago
Don is a great player. But why do ppl bring comparison with Sachin? Look at the balls in this video. Do you call it fast bowling? Even people in Indian streets bowl faster than that these days. Come on guys. Cricket evolved over time. Don was from very early stages of cricket. 99.94 average??? so what? How many different countries he played against? How many different tracks? How many of them were as top rated as Waquar,Wasim, McGrath, Shane warne,Donald and list goes on......

most of you indian fans are not real cricket fans.

@CFAN123
JAMMYZURICH 10 months ago
@JAMMYZURICH I understand what your saying, but also don't get me wrong I don't care whether you like him or not, i was more referring to many indian fans who trash him like he's nothing and saying he'd be an amateur today. If he played today he would grow up with modern technology, therefore be as good today as he was then.
I don't care if you think Sachin is better, i have a lot of respect for tendulkar to, great player, great person. But that doesn't mean you should take away from Bradman.
CFAN123 10 months ago
@CFAN123 I never take away from Bradman. What I am saying is Indians do respect others...we appreciate not just Bradman but also every other great player not just from India but from every other country and from every other game as well....But there are ass holes every where in India and also in Australia (Did you read the article from Ian Chapel suggesting Sachin to retire in 2007?) When you enjoy Dan and I enjoy Sachin, lets just enjoy cricket...forget about the assholes....they never matter.

Sure, Tendulkar is a genius; but to say that Don Bradman is not far and away the best batsman ever is akin to saying the Earth doesn't go around the Sun.

Your bias clouds your judgement.
cupidoc 1 year ago

DawnOfEos 1 year ago
I don't get how you morons are going to compare Sachin Tendulkar and Bradman, there is no comparison because they played at different times when equipment, venues and bowling skills were significantly different. All I am going to say is that both are the best batsmet of their respective times. Anyone who is foolish enough to compare these two is just being silly. Appreciate and respect both and don't be idiotic enough to say one of them is better without a qualifier of some sort.

so sachin has scored 1200o+ runs, ayks17. how many tests has he played to get those runs? That's why it's called an "average" son. Bradman played on uncovered wickets, 8 ball overs, with very little protective gear, against bowlers that have been proven by science to be as quick as what we have today. There were more quality spinners then, than what we have now too. How the hell can you say Sachin is better?? Even Sachin has said there is only one Bradman.

@8DALE @8DALE although your point about comparing sachin and bradman is correct I would just like to make a note on the rest of it.
Playing without helmet is not a sign of a good batsmen. given a helmet most batsmen would have worn it, especially on fast bouncy tracks. The helmet in its modern form is a relatively new invention. It is a safety issue not an issue of talent.
dumbecho 1 year ago
@8DALE Not trying to discredit Don, but do you realise the fielding in that era was sub-par and had set pieces. He was 2-3 DECADES ahead of his time in terms of pure style of playing, in addition to his genius. .
Lastly, saying "Dear Indians" and continuing with Indian bashing is a dangerous generalization. I doubt your being Indian but you are not the only one who feels that Don Bradman is the best cricket batsmen till date. Typifying an entire country on your insular opinion is incorrect.

Look Sachin's first few matches, He was playing without Helmet only. Next is I also don't believe that world cricket started in bradman's era. It was around 1980's when other countries involved and Cricket developed. Sachin > Bradman

KING

(Part 2) so the experts analysed. He did play against England, who during the 30's to 1975 were Very Strong. Bradman played against South Africa, India & Murdered them. Also, if you are not blinded you can clearly see runs were easy to come by back then and bowlers looked pedestrian..
tghj001 3 years ago
So you all say he only got this because he faced England mostly.
Well, he must of been pretty good if England started bowling at him because they couldn't hit his wickets.
ChrisBromley 3 years ago
The reason Don is so famous was because English and Aussies praised and wrote about him so much that he became an unsaid legend for generations to come. He does not even belong to the class of Ponting, Richards, Lara, or Tendulkar . The aussies should stop talking about him being the greatest now. Aussies are very good in analysing the contemporary players; come out with stats, never heard of, but when it comes to Bradman they refuse to analyze his stats or the bowlers he faced.
tghj001 3 years ago
Bradman lovers, please tell me what's so special in this guy hitting the ball, that makes you go so crazy about him. Why do you people refuse to accept any of your contemporaries cricketers who really sweat it out for every run they scored, facing the greatest bowlers ever in cricket. Really dumb ppl...
tghj001 3 years ago
they were just as quick back then mate. And all the best bowlers in cricket were back then. look at the rankings
aussiestuff 3 years ago
Wrong again! Of the top 25 wisden bowlers in the history of game, he played only against 1. The others happened to be either aussies or not during his time. He was lucky to be born in a generation when there were not genuinely quick or did not play due to the world war..
tghj001 3 years ago
ok smartass, how the hell didnt anyone else have averages for 99.94 during that time if the bowlers were so crappy.
And what does the war have to do with Anything?
aussiestuff 3 years ago
Simple reason: Majority of cricket was played only between england and austtralia. Out of his 52 test he played 37 against england. On the other hand England players had to face those top quality aussie bowlers and he did not. Other teams he played against were WI, India and SA and did not face too many good bowlers. One bowler he faced AV Bedser troubled him a lot he averages 54 against him. This is what I beleive his average shoudl have been if he plaed like his contemporaries like Ponting.
tghj001 3 years ago
Good potential bowlers got killed in the war or were preping up for it. :)
tghj001 3 years ago
In terms of speed they were just as fast. Harold Larwood was one of the fastest of all time. The pitches then were uncovered as well which was a GREAT DISADVANTAGE to batsmen. Protective equipment was also poor and helmets didn't exist, which meant short balls had to be ducked and couldn't be hooked or pulled as easily. Longer boundries as well back then, because there were no ropes. Teams like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe weren't around to expoit either. Bradman today would be the GREATEST.
bcroftsbranna 3 years ago
His 17 tests where he scored really heavily 150+ average was against india, SA and WI - the then Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Why would uncovered be such a great disadvantage. Protective equipment really did not really matter because amount of short pitched stuff wasnt that much. Well short boundries dont make too much difference becauase batsman like lara, tendulkar, richards or pontings boundries stay hit on any ground.
tghj001 3 years ago
If batting was so easy back then how come other Australian batsmen at the time were only averaging in the 30's. Even Australians agree that Ponting shouldn't be spoken about in the same sentence as Bradman - Pontings good but Bradman stands out in a league of his own. The amount of shortpitched stuff was more mate, havn't you heard about bodyline. On the incosistant unvcovered pitches of the day batting was very dangerous.
bcroftsbranna 3 years ago
Only after 5 test bradman bowled bouncers were banned by MCC.
tghj001 3 years ago
Bouncers were never banned by the MCC. Man u kno nothin about crickets history whatsoever. Bouncers are still bowled now if u havnt realised. But bodyline has been banned. And what u mean 56 only, thats still awesome especially for those times. The other players u named above were greats too and only a few exceptions. Look at everyone else's average. Bradman stood out too far ahead mate, im sorry
bcroftsbranna 3 years ago
I was talking about bodyline bouncers not regular bouncers. Of course, they are allowed these days. Bradmans 56 back then is todays 28. Now unless youve got something sensible to say, this discussion is over mate..

you make UNcovered pitches sounds like it left craters on the cricket pitch.. lol..
tghj001 3 years ago
ok if u'd eva played on a covered pitch and then on an uncovered one u would surely know what a great difference it makes.
bcroftsbranna 3 years ago
lolol.. ok, agreed.. may be you should just stick to playing cricket mate..

METALl118MULISHA118 3 years ago
by far the best eva regardless. He'd prolly average around 130 at least in this era.
bcroftsbranna 3 years ago
None of your reasoning is true. Bradman was a smart guy and knew how to put the ball to the bat really well when bowled at a lousy pace. I am sure one bowl from lee would have bust his bowls in a jiffy.
tghj001 3 years ago
Not true. He played only against england 37 tests, 5 against Inida, 5 against Wi and 5 against SA - He milked these 3 for his average. Also, if you look at the status none of the english bowlers except 1 he faced was in Wisden top 25. He played against theem so much that he milked them. His average in current terms would be around 50 after giving him the benefit of the doubt.
tghj001 3 years ago
None of them are in Wisdens top 25 only because of Bradman, he destroyed any of their chances. How can you saw his average now would be 50 when everyone is averaging in the 40's and 50's. Other good batsmen then were averaging in the low 30's and 40's. Tony Greig asked Andrew Symonds how much the quality of bats had improved over his career. Symonds laughed and replied "Mate, they've improved tremendously over the last 5 years. If Bradman had a modern day piece of willow he'd average over 110
bcroftsbranna 3 years ago
haha Alright, your first line was a great joke becauase he destroyed their chances.

After 30 years Tendulkar will be like him
65410023 3 years ago
Yes, the fast bowlers and batsmen may be better in today's cricket with sports science greater improving abilities, but you have to realise that "THE DON" would also be able to benefit from these technological advances therefore also adapting his play to today's game.
"THE DON" also had about double the test average of Tendulkar with a piece of willow that was a third of the size.
In closing you can't dispute a guy that used to hit a golf ball against a water tank using a cricket stump for fun

today would have been don bradman's 100th birthday. on the same day as me. obviously he was 30years older that me but when i had that bat in my hand i thought i could have once been him maybe...
welshdevilz 3 years ago
The video isn't that great but the thought is much appreciated. Cheers to all you guys keeping the Don's memory alive!! I am of Indian Origin and a big Tendu fan (who isn't lol) but I admire the passion and SKILL of this guy.People who say bradman played in a different era to modern greats so we can't be sure he is world class, lets not forget he ended up with an average of 99 with a great strike rate, all this without helmets and protection!

there is absolutley no denying, that even if there were small differences back then our don bradman was an amazing batsman, freaking freaking freaking aamazing and the grass used on pitches etc. will never ever change that. that's lyk saying that ian thorpe isnt a good swimmer because dawn fraser never wore a thorpedo swim suit so she'd prob be just as good if she had or some shit. get over it don bradman is the best thing that happened to australia in the depths of depression
funkygirl59 3 years ago
Ambrose would have been something he never faced. I'd fancy the modern day bowlers to contain him. Ave c. 50 nowadays, but foget 99.96.
chillipeanuts 3 years ago
We'll never really know how the Don woldhave compared to modern greats since he played so long ago. The only sensible comparison you can make is that both the Don and Tendulkar captured the imagintion of the public like no one else of their generation. I am almost the same age as Sachin and have followed his career with fascination since the beginning. The way he bats and the purity of his strokes is simple mesmerizing. So for me its the Don and Sachin as the best batsmen of all time!
zubinix 3 years ago
uno at dat time the pitches and the games where quite slow is it was easier 2 bat dan bowl.......also i have heard dat in dose days there was unlimited days 2 play test cricket i dunno if its true or not...........no doubt his a excellent batsman
wasimcrash90 3 years ago
Hes the best.
No one will ever beat him. no one is as good as bradman.
cricket was harder in those days. Imagine him now!!!
Cuzez123 3 years ago
i dont think there is genius in either of them.
don was a master and so is sachin. but do not forget one thing sachin has raised the level of batsmanship.
if a person can single handedly make 2 billion people watch cricket when he is batting, then the man should be something amazing.
vishy8859 3 years ago
The only ever true genius the game has ever known.
There are a few pretenders (see other previous comments!) - but there will most likely only ever be one Don Bradman.
I was privileged enough to meet Sir Len Hutton when I was 13. I remember asking him, because I was young and cocky (and loved cricket), who he thought was the greatest ever cricketer. This kindly old man, this legend in his own right, seemed to me to be talking about his own hero when he did not hesitate to say: 'Only the Don'.

There was no question who was #1 during those two decades.
rakk73 3 years ago
Sachin is better than Don any day... no comparision. Don played with just a couple of teams max... Symonds "The Monkey" plays better than Don i.e modern day batsman is tested time and again agaist various teams and bowlers. IMagine Don playing against the likes of Walsh, Akram, Murali, Hadlee etc compared with may be couple of English and WI bowlers of his time.
