Gleason was a genius. Love Carney. I loved the blue collar humor of a working poor family in Bensenhurst. My best friends Father grew up there. The other blue collar family that rivaled The honeymooners was All in the Family.

@143AC I know Gleason had enormous talent, his dramtic roles were masterful. Requiem for a heavyweight", "The Hustler", to name some.  One of the great entertainers of the 2oth. century, to be sure!

What a sad childhood this man had...his brother died when Jackie was

a baby.His dad walked out on the family,he didn't go to school or even

played outside and even have friends as a kid.And his mom died,when he

was a teenager.

Gleason did ALL his pool shots in "the Hustler" Newmans shots were done by Willie Masconi.. Tony Curtis was quoted as saying one of his biggest let downs was watching Newman play pool!!

Gleason made a LOT of money playing pool.

"The Honeymooners"actually began on "The Cavalcade Of

Stars Show"on The Dumount TV Network in 1950. "The Jackie

Gleason Show"didn't debut until two years later on CBS.

@ctfatguy Gleason was truley one-of-a-kind...nobody, and I mean NOBODY could ever replace him!

I remember when he died in the late 1980's...as young as I was, I was heartbroken!
