  • Hear the song on the album, it is so intense. You think it is Ian, Trust me Peter can match his voice just the same way he can play the music live just as it sounds on cd.

  • Excellent!

  • never knew gillian played guitar

  • Wow does this miss Ian Curtis's voice or what?

  • Okay now I'm going to go rock back and forth in corner now, because how great this is!!! =D

  • super cool footage

    intense

  • this track is the link!! and that performance was as pure as you could wish for..thankyou!!

  • Only God knows what Joy Division would have gone on to do if Ian...

  • a robotic voice that suits the sound. i love this band. i'll stick pin needles on the number 5

  • @scwt89 hello world

  • What a great New Order tune from the old days. Not mention Hooky in a tie.

  • What a great New Order tune from the old days.

  • wow, i've been a JD/NO fan for 20 years or more and i never ealized the hook sang vocals. he's not bad. i've never liked new order live, i think they are best in the studio. but now with you tube i've been getting into their live stuff. it's real, and raw with mistakes and everything. not like todays live music with backing vocal tracks, autotuner and lipsync.

  • I like Hook as a singer, he's a great musician. Great band.

  • Is it just me or does Gillian look like Mrs. Fiend from Alien Sex Fiend here? Are they related?

  • @beforethree i just guessed

  • Am I the only one who would pay just to hear Stephen Morris play on his own?

  • @fleeciewool nope - I would. Super underrated drummer. They guy is f23king intense! Just watch the BBC Radio 1 session of "Age of Consent" to see what I am talking about: /watch?v=0VcGJZpfl1c

  • @fleeciewool Stephen Morris aka "drum Machine"

  • @fleeciewool hope u had the chance to do it,,,, i did ,

    3 times this year :)

  • i thinkt hooky is better singer than bernie

  • Love it!!I danced this drunk last night in a club <3

  • great bands never die !!!!!!

  • totally sick !

  • one of my fave, a classic rock music of New Order! Thanks!

  • Gillian on guitar!

  • great concert! wish i was there! thank u so much for this videos

  • Miss the deeper vocals on this version, but it's just such a good song.

  • Sick!

  • Only this !!

  • Fabby track - hooky at his best !!

  • just ate their today...good stuffed cabbage

  • uhm wows. soft slag. don't tune it.

  • i love hooky's voice

  • Great Song just think how it would sound with Ian Curtis sing´n it

  • Great Song. Everyone looks so nervous performing though.

  • @JYDIVISN they never looked like they liked what they were doing until around the 1990

  • geant!!!! new order est un des plus grand groupe au monde

  • One of New Order's greatest songs - doesn't even need Bernard, the useless throwpiece.

  • singing about ian

  • I love this song so much that I'm making a short film based on it for my NYU admissions tape. I also recorded a great cover version of song =]

  • Does Hook sing the version on the Movement album and peel sesions? What other songs does he sing?

  • Yes he does. He also sings Doubts Even Here, also found on Movement.

  • He should have sang on more. Really retains the JD sound. Wonder why he didn't

  • @VanishInFright Do you have a live version of Doubts even here? Would be really kewl

  • He sings in tune! Go Hooky!

  • @lagowski ...Barney eventually took some singing lessons.

  • At this album Movement.. peter sings on doubts Even Here too.

  • incredible this is just one and a half year after ians death. so cool

  • hookys voice is great on this track cant get enough of it

  • Peter Hook is the man!

  • I quite like Peter's voice on this it just so different and unusual. Anyway just loooooooooooooooooooooooove New Order to bits.

  • we all miss ian

  • sounds very different from the recording but still awesome!!

i like the movement album more than any of their other stuff

  • Gillian looking very angular featured lol. Raw as fook here.

    NO Forever Wherever..

  • I'm pretty sure Ian wrote the lyrics for this song before his death...can anyone verify that?

  • ian wrote the ceremony lyrics and the in a lonely place lyrics, but according to 'touching from a distance' he didn't write the lyrics for this one.. so i can't verify it, maybe some one else

  • I know, I read the book, saw all the lyrics at the back that were attributed to him...its just that of all the New Order songs, which are great, none really had the lyrical depth that this one had, in terms of imagery and theme...they sound so much like Ian's words...

  • yeah you're right.. again i say, maybe some one else can verify it

  • @houghmp so true, this song blows my mind musically and lyrically

  • These guys can make easy guitar playing sound so awesome!!!

  • OMG first time ive seen Hooky singing

he should have been the singer...

  • he is a dj and plays new and old songs, great.

  • 0:53 Gillian is gorgeous ;)

  • @belzondium, yeah she is. And a sweet girl too !! Lucky Steven.

  • I know what happened Hook had a bet he could out lead sing, while singer could out backup guitar to his lead singing LOL BROTHERHOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why can't more music today be this good? It doesn't even have to be this good, just better.

  • Hooky should have sung way more!

  • HOOKSTER WE LOVE UUU!!!

  • So do i

  • i love this song

  • Serious tune! Thanks for loading this Vid, good to look back to 81! (seems like only yesterday)

  • ...seems still like tomorrow i guess....

  • If someone asked me what post punk music sounds like, I'd play him this song. Awesome.

  • Do'nt they look young ?

Before the drummer started collecting tanks and armoured cars

  • On aimerait que le rêve New Order ne prenne jamais fin et que pour la grande réconciliation, Hooky revienne chanter sur la guitare de Sumner...

  • This was on the first video tape i ever bought sadly long gone but nice to see it again thank you!

  • yeah it kinda looks like it, but its too dark to tell.

  • hmm correct me if i'm wrong but given the lyrics it's almost obvious they're singing about ian's last days.. right?

  • you are correct. this is an ian curtis tribute by the band.

  • All but two songs on Movement were tributes to Ian =D

  • and the title "dreams never end" refers to Ian's lyric in Insight "Guess the dreams always end"

  • thank you.

  • @scwt89 and where did you know that ?

  • @scwt89

    this is a revelation ! I didn't know this..

  • @scwt89

what a revelation!! I did not know about that,. Are you sure about that?

  • is bernard playing a hollow-body?

  • i don't think so, it looks like he's playing a double cutaway gibson les paul special.

  • think hookys voice sounds alright---would of liked to hear more of him--

  • i thought it was ian the very first time

  • that is, on the recording

  • Wrong.

  • you're smart

  • @britdude1961 yeah, Hook should have done the vocals on more songs, esp ceremony(would love to here him on that), love Bernard as writer and guitarist but always been a bit cross about his vocals

  • The only new order album i can listen without feeling the urge to bang my head on the wall ^^

  • good points succinctley put nesplayer94 :))

  • They still sound a lot like Joy Division in this song just a bit more electronic they found they hit their stride with "Power, Corruption, and Lies" though. "Movement" is probably my favorite though cause it sounds like Joy Division at that point still.

  • Such a great song.

  • I think Hooky really brings something great to this song and his voice isn't half bad. But on the studio version, the mix is so lousy you can barely make out the words.

So no one in New Order can sing or play, but who gives a f*ck? Even they admitted that. They chose Bernard as singer out of pure necessity. But they write fantastic songs, which is enough for me to love them. Most pop bands will never manage even one truly great song. New Order has more than I can even count.

  • I wish hooky had sang more

  • Hey! I was just about to say that :-D!

  • Just hear Monaco's stuff...he sings quite a few for that project with David Potts! Download away !!

  • fantastic song!

  • Shuhster bleib bei Deinen Rappen!!

    I LoVe PeTeR !!

  • ohhh donde sta New ORder falto que viniera a MExico chinagos aca puras bandas culeras que manden a la verga a la choetada de madona jajajja ojala un dia se nos haga

  • I kinda consider MOvement to be like a third Jd album, it became more pop, but still indstrial

  • Best track from their debut LP.Hooky on lead vox for the first and last time in their so far very long career.

  • they are amazing

  • jj, robert má lepší hlas...

  • Yeah... I couldn't have put it better myself...!

  • wow - goddam - brilliant! thanks for a great upload!

  • How fuckin brilliant are new order?

  • its official i got addicted to this album :p

its still very JD stile (lol i think i have commented this album 100 times todayxD)

  • a little more upbeat than JD a great transition album and my personal favourite

  • Great song; I think Robert Smith might owe these four some royalties!!!!! :-)

  • haha the stile reminds robert smith so much.

im not a fsm of those guys but this albuns kicks ass

  • quite a short song for new order

  • What is the first song in the concert it is listed as ICB but sounds nothing like it.

  • this is a f*^king gr8 video of a frickin gr8 song - probably defined that era- the rest merely copied -is that what u meant to say petak2 ;->

  • proč ty jsi taková smutná,když to s tebou dělám,máš zavřený oči a já s toho nic nemám.

    Wanastowi vjecy - Holčičko

  • jojo, výborné :)

    WV sú lepší :-),že?

  • YEAH, TOTALLY RIGHT!! ^^

  • when was the last time this was played?

  • my fave!

  • i like 999999999999999999999999999999 times better hooky's voice than bernies'

    its all deep like ian's

  • i agree! i love hooky's voice

  • i wonder if bernard has ever sung lead on this song

  • da!! it kill me, how the fuck is doing Hooky to have that such beautiful bass sound ??

  • Shergold Marathon 6 string bass with tone controls up, Electro Harmonix Clone Theory chorus pedal, into a Custom Hitwatt 100 amp with a vox or marshall cab with goodman or something else spekers

besides, in my view, even if get the exact same gear, you will not sound the same

  • Do you think that Robert Smith listened to this before writing "In Between Days"? I sure do.

  • yeah, this song reminds me alot of the cure

  • Yeah, New Order took The Cure to court over "In Between Days".

  • I thought this sounded like 'The Cure' too.

  • listen to faith and seventeen secods (early the cure albums) really sound like joy division

mainly the baassyness xd if u will

the song primary was dedicated to ian curtis suposedly

  • yes, i thought about it too.

the sound of the cures inbetween days is very close to this...

  • absolute class

  • i love hooky singing

  • i like to imagine Ian Curtis singing

  • Seriously me too.

  • Love that deep bass!

  • one of only 2 Hooky sung alone, the other being Doubts Even Here.

  • Silly me, I always wondered why Bernard sounded different on this track. Seems to be Hooky should have sung more of the bands tracks. Kinda how Martin Gore took the helm with Depeche Mode from time to time.

  • shit I always thought it was Ian singing.

  • Who's the chick playing with em? Such a beautiful song.

  • it's gillian gilbert, the 4th original member of NEW ORDER

  • lol wtf

  • those boyish days
