  • I luv this song and I love hearing Levi Stubbs sing it. What a loss! I know he is still singing somewhere....

  • LEGEND. Thanks for the music. RIP Levi.

  • Wow, I see so many had this song as their wedding song, So did I when I married in 1984. Still believe in my husband and I !

  • I liked Whitney, but her version of this song couldn't compare. This was my wedding song in the year 2004. Still LOVING this song and my husband.

  • This is what you call real singing....not all that screaming and runs/riffs. The R&B singers of today need to go back to the old time way. This man's voice is just pure and true.

  • for those who only know the Whitne Houston version boy are you missing out

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS SONG ONLY HAS 69,000 VIEWS. WHAT A SHAME.

  • I love this song. Was my senior prom theme song many, many moons ago. It still makes me cry and I love slow dancing to it!! Thanks for posting!!

  • This is one of the most beautiful tunes ive heard in a while, pulled at my heart string this did because it made me feel how i felt about someone who is special to my heart <3 .xx

  • I remember when Denzel received the entertainer of the year award. His wife and Falecia Rashad told the story of how The Four Tops sang this song at Denzel's wedding! They Introduced The Tops , They Sang it again for them! Denzel cried while accepting the award! and so did I! Very Moving & Beautiful ! Levi, did it the best!!!

  • @Chenaniyah Thank you fro sharing that with us. Levi was the THE BEST!

  • @Chenaniyah YESSSSSS!!!! I thought I was the only person who saw that. I was in college at the time. I ran back to the room from class to see the presentation. Ever since then, I EXTRA love Denzel, and the song is so ahhhhhhhhh.

  • Well That says It All

  • One of the most beautiful songs sang in the most heartfelt way. A wedding song for sure.

  • tears in my eyes, lump in my throat. xxxxx

  • O meu me ensinou a ter gosto por músicas da época de ouro. Four Tops; The Temptations etc... Muito bom, parabéns pelo vídeo.

  • Such a shame that they don't make tunes like this anymore, all music is soulless in comparison....amazing song...!

  • In my humble opinion, the Tops were motown's best...difference is all their acts could do upbeat stuff, BUT the four tops did so many awesome ballads too! There was only one Levi Stubbs.....Talk about your Marvin's, Sinatra's, Michael's, Otis's, Ray's, Barry's, William's, Luther's and Sam's etc...even Dean Martin ! LEVI was an underrated & incredible singer. as smooth and as silky as ANYONE you could put up against him.

  • One of my favorite songs by the Four Tops. I always Levi's voice and he never left his group so many others. He was special

  • Sue missing you so much today...want to hold you so much xxx

  • very moving! :)

  • This was my wedding song!

  • the world lost a beautiful voice when he passed

  • Levi perfection. nuff said

  • Random question: but does he have a baritone voice? or a tenor?

im trying to learn different vocals because i was told i am a baritone with a 2 octave range...I just started learning to sing yesterday lol

hopefully my voice will grow as I continue to learn since its only been one day

  • Singing doesn't get any better than this! Levi's voice has always been able to lift my sprit and soul, what a gift he had and what a legacy he has left us. RIP Levi, it has been such a privilege to have your voice in my time.

  • one of the best songs ever! Thank you Mr. Stubbs for singing it so beautifully. RIP.

  • @radiance65: Yes Whitney Houston did it justice....he was proud of the job she did with it.

  • NICE....GOOD JOB....IT'S ABOUT THE MUSIC!!!!

  • They are defined by Webster's dictionary as the longest tenuered group without a personnel change (1953-1997). Water, Obie, their beloved Duke, and of course their King, Levi Stubbs. Motown may have been the "Sound of Young America" but wthout their Tops.........................................

  • very beautiful :)

  • You know there's are many songs out there that brings back memories, but not many that bring back feelings as well. This is one of those song, loved it then and each time i hear it

  • Has there ever been a more perfect rendition of a song? I don't think so. RIP Levi Stubbs.

  • E simplesmente maravilhosa.

    Brasil, Minas Gerais, Varginha.

  • This was also the song for my first dance at my wedding.. I had the honor of seeing the Four Tops and Levi Stubbs years ago. When they performed this song, I still had tears in my eyes, years after my wedding. Such a beautiful song, such a beautiful voice.

  • My DAD made a FANtastic tape with this song as the opening tune for my mom.. he is no longer here...I MISS YOU SOOO MUCH! You will remain in our hearts.. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU DAD! R.I.P.

  • epic- so i do cry when i hear this song. it is a great love song. don't we want to do these things for someone we love.

  • i seriously cry EVERY time i hear this song

  • *BIG SIGH* Thanks For Sharing! ;-)

  • Not only is this a gorgeous song, which a friend of mine had for the first dance at her wedding, but absolutely no one could sing it like Levi Stubbs. He was amazing and I was fortunate enough to hear him sing this song and others one time at Radio City in New York. I was upset to hear about his stroke and even more upset when he passed on. God rest his soul. A wonderful light went out when he died but we still have his wonderful voice to listen to, and this song was his best ever.

  • @dhenderson116 so so true... this was played at my wedding years ago.. i had the privelege to see Levi and the four tops play this before his death and I will always remember that day... as well as my wedidng day.

  • This is great, thanks, thanks, thanks. Tell me this dosen't beat pop-ups. Thanks for keeping yourself in check, most people can't keep ther ego's in check. GREAT JOB!!!!

  • So sad but nice....Tear rolls down my face lol

  • You will always be THE one, for me... Oh yes you will.... Tells a timeless story.

  • Definitely a wedding song. Pure perfection and yes, it is crying material. One of my favorites.

  • my sister walked down the isle to this song

  • The absolute BEST LOVE song EVER!!! Without a doubt.

  • I love this song so much. Makes me miss someone very special. He is 1500 miles away.

Edson Finoti Gregorio - Brazil - MG Varginha

  • For some old reason, I didn't take the Tops seriously like I did the Temps and Smokey. But as I got older, I appreciated them more and collected all the cd's and tapes I could. But at the end of that concert, I didn't like the way the Tops had to resort to singing everybody else's songs to close the show. Maybe they couldn't sing some of their songs back then, but it was a great show anyway.

  • @GOBLUEADAM -NOT HAVING YOU AS A FAN WAS YOU LOSS AND THERE GAIN!!! i SAW THEM ONCE AND LOVE THEM!!!

  • This song is sung with all there heearts and soull Gives you the chill's

  • All I can say is...I sing this song so good that it brings me to tears at the end...So beatuiful.

  • there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, you just show everyone that you are alive and still believe in dreams. there is nothing wrong with that.

  • I cry every time I hear this piece. What's wrong with me?

  • SWEET

  • Incredibly beautiful. Not the same song Screamin' Whitney Butchered. Best version by far.

  • @klh91048 There Is No Way Whitney Butchered This Song! She Did It Justice! And Made Her Generation Remember Who They Were!

I Love This Version, It's Beautiful...Glad To Hear A Nice Male Singer....We Actually Don't Have Alot A Good Male Singers No More! LOVE IT!

  • Not a love song... a wedding song.

  • @donalfredor You are 100% correct this is not a love song. This was to my wedding song, but her mother did everything ruin the entire affair and we never walked down the aisle. Everytime I hear this song I think of what could have been.

  • Now this is a love song....

  • One of the greatest love songs ever.

  • I saw the Tops do this live at the Fox Theater here in Motown. Levi cleared the stage, toweled himself off, sat on a stool, and started singing. And about halfway into the song, the lights come on, and out comes the rest of the Tops singing in harmony. BEAUTIFUL!

  • @GOBLUEADAM

I was there too. What a touching moment. I woke up and said, "damn, these guys can flat out sing." I remember earlier Motown Reviews where you would pay three of four dollars and see everybody; The Temps, Martha & Vandellas, Miracles, Mary Wells, Marvelletes, Marvin, Gladys & Pips, etc. It was a concert of attrition. When you had enough, you would simply leave. Of course, they and we were all very young.

    Rob C.

  • One of the great vocal performances of all time.

I knew the end was coming, but Brother, I wasn't ready, I really wasn't.......

We should respect talent more because it is so rare

  • MISS YOU MR. STUBBS. WHAT AN ANNOINTED VOICE. THIS SONG IS SO TOUCHING. I SANG IT FOR ONE OF SISTER-IN-LAW'S WEDDING. PERFECT WEDDING SONG.

  • LEVI STUBBS WAS BLESSED WITH AN INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL VOICE. MISS HIM.

  • 15 Years ago on this date my wife made me the happiest man on i know. And i can truly say that our love has only grown deeper. I'm still crazy about her. I still call her 3-4 times a day. If we weren't married you'd thinl i was a stalker. Anyway, this is our wedding song. I love you baby.

  • An oldie and goody to never be forgotten! arguably the best love song ever.

so much music greats out there, I hate forgetting the good ones :-)

  • I dedicate this song to my beautiful, lovely and sexy wife...PHILLY!! You've always.... and still do.... believe in me. Thank You Sweetie Pie!! :-)

  • Great song!

  • What song is this album off of?

  • My future wedding song!! Love it...

  • Thanks, 1987TANJA, for posting such a beautiful music video; that lil girl with that heart balloon, I can't tell if she's trying to get it or just letting it go, but whatever it is, it's just beautiful... The song, the words, the Four Tops; it's the perfect song to dedicate to the man I've loved all my life even though we've been separated for more than 41 years... Finding him again last December was the best x-mas present I ever had; now we can live our dreams because "I Believe in You & Me!"

  • @jacquiemitchell

Jacquie, It's so good to know that we are not alone! The single, greatest love of my life was restored to me after a 42 year seperation on February 13th of this year... an amazing Valentine's Day gift for me. I have loved him throughout all these years and embrace this opportunity to find as many ways as possible to show him how much he means to me. He was my "first love", and now, he is my last, best and forever love.

    Ain't love grand!

  • @Ms11041950

You know I'm talking about you, Wayne Cook!

  • @Ms11041950 - In this life full of uncertainty, most of us are Blessed to have our families, but only a few of us have the opportunity to find our long lost love (the one that got away) & enjoy our own "Love Story!" Congratulations on finding the man of your dreams after so many years, and I Pray that you two are as happy as my Armando & me. Remember, it's not going to be easy but it'll be worth it if you accept each other the way you are; trust & communication is the key!! God Bless your love!!

  • @jacquiemitchell49

When I was 15 and he was 18, living in Detroit was magical. Levi and the fellas, David and The Temps, along with Marvin Gaye, made virginity a serious challenge during those years! This beautiful love song takes me back, while being the catalyst for our present dreams and a magical future. The Four Tops were totally underrated, as was the staying power of a teenage love affair! Thanks for the post and R.I.P. Levi!

  • @Ms11041950 - Wow, I was also 15 and he was 18 when we met at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, CA, and yes, they were different times back then, I call it "the age of innocence" even though we grew up with the unforgettable music of The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, etc. I believe that at that age a lot of us made the mistake to think that the grass was greener on the other side & didn't realize until it was too late that it isn't!! Take care of each other!!

  • @jacquiemitchell49

Doublw Wow! This amazing love song and two amazing love stories! We met in Detroit but are both in California, now. He is in Brentwood, down in your neck of the woods. Contact me at ellissal@aol.com to share a personal thought. Yes, Levi, "I believe in miracles!"
