  • OMG. I watched like the first 20 min., and then it was so good so I think that shall explain how I ended up here.

  • An evergreen classic!

Just came to see the original when bumped into this dirtbag Honda advertising:

    youtube.com/watch?v=D09N_cDrtxg

  • this should be called "if piromaniacs would use they're head"

  • This is so awesome. It's like that one OK Go video, except with a lot more fire.

  • This reminds me of that one Michael Bay movie where stuff catches light/explodes ...which one was it? Oh yeah , all of them.

  • editing a rube goldberg machine is retarded. these guys are hacks

  • This was made in 1987 and inspired Honda advert, with out this the Honda advert wouldn't exist. Love Fishli and Weiss, remember an exhibition at the Tate in 2006 or 2007, hundreds of little sculptures, my favorit, 'Mick Jagger and Brian Jones walking home satisfied after writing I can’t get no satisfaction‘. Genius!

  • i have been watching this forever I can still watch this forever I will be watching this forever

  • DAMMMM U MADE THAT?

  • Pretty pointless -.-

  • watch the whole thing, it's 30 minutes long. you can find all 3 parts on youtube titled The Way Things Go (1/3) (2/3) and (3/3). Trust me, it is well worth your time to watch the whole thing.

  • To the person below who reckon the advert is 'so much better'...Err, Fischli and Weiss did it first and were ripped off!

  • This is great! Too bad there's always more money to make advertising than to make art!

  • The Honda Accord commercial is so much better.

  • Geniale!

  • I saw the tape on display in one of the art museums in Washington DC, very very impressive

  • 1:15 FIRE ZE CATAPULTS!!!!

  • I counted 3 edits.

  • fake

  • pyromaniac at its finest

  • i luv the sound the fireball makes as it goes round :D

  • Good, However

    -Not a rube golberg machine

    -there were several edits

  • @FilledCircle yes i saw 3 edits, but how is this not a rube goldberg?

  • @xInvertPBx Rube Goldberg is a machine that uses one applied force and by a series of chain reactions does a simple task. like crack an egg or something like that not shoot a racecar

  • @FilledCircle that box may have been a fireplace that they wanted to light. or lighting the rocket may have been the simple task. or if you want to be really mundane about it just add a candle to the end =P

  • Pointless.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • at 1:20 (_video time_) you hear the guy sniffing haha!

    real gee

and that was 20 years ago.

    genuis. purely.

  • This guy likes to play with Fire WAY TOO FREAKING MUCH!

If my mom ever saw me trying anything like this, she'd seriously freak.

KIDS! DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! OR AT ALL!

  • i saw their exhibition in kanazawa yesterday, and have come to view more by them. am glad to know them.

  • The whole video is about 20 minutes long, I think

  • Some of those things just took way too long.

  • @mwmh91: I'm glad. I thought it ended pretty abruptly.

  • @ursorr: Actually there are a couple. But they were while zoomed in at fire. Probably so they wouldn't have to record the fire burning for a few minutes.

  • Comment removed

  • @ursorr Yes there are, you just didn't notice them.

  • this isnt even the whole thing its like 45 mins long, with some shotty takes but never-the-less pretty impressive

  • The edits are well done, but still make this much less impressive

  • @vincewhitney the edits are actually because this was filmed using film. I'm pretty sure, I was taught, and have never heard otherwise, that this was one continuous run.

  • @vincewhitney there are no edits.

  • the last time i was in Washington, D.C. this video was playing on a TV in the Art Museum

  • This was very creative and well done. It should have accomplished some task though.

  • @GallifreysMagician agreed, there was no absurd task at the end and thus this is not a rube goldberg machine

  • I saw this in science class!

  • edit point 0:54

  • @devilsclaw69 rofl thats true, the position of the flam changes. like on the sides

  • there where 3 cuts in this. that makes it easy to do.

  • Really cool.

  • YOURE FIRED....no wait...CRAP

  • This would be more impressive if the camera didn't cut so often.

  • 34,877 views but only 74 likes and dislikes. wtf?

  • I think the fire ball got a boner

  • Genial

  • One day before vacation back in 8th grade our science teacher showed us this...still pretty epic to this day

  • Love these Rube Goldberg machines!

the spinning fire ball of death at 1:25 wasnt that scary after all. definitely took its time goin down hehe

  • @moosker07 Its technically not a Rube Goldberg machine unless the machine Performs some kind of menial task as a result, like light a cigarette or pour some orange juice or squirt some toothpaste on your toothbrush.

  • ive had to watch this for class before, the whole thing is 30 minutes

  • AMAZING!!!!..

    needs music :)

  • That's Hot! heh

  • the original chain reaction film!

  • fire!

  • Holy, that's just amazing.

  • does this film have a web site? where can i get it!

  • Just search for 'The Way Things Go Icarus films'

There's a DVD for sale on the website

  • Thanks! Got it!

  • Amazing, wonderful creation
