very sad show :( too bad this really happened to a close friend of mine. I met her after this all happened, and watching the movie I cried through the whole thing. We don't talk about that part of her life, I wouldn't know what to say anyways... I will let you all know she is doing good for all that she went through, and I am so proud of her. She has gone on with her life, was a great mom, and is now a wonderful grandmother.

Since I saw this movie last week, I think about how Nadine every day....particularly, the slow process Brenda used to get Nadine's mind to where it ended up.

I think employers, politicians, media, advertising, etc. generally inflicts such worth-destroying techniques on all of us...thus, there is a chronic depression epidemic. That would explain why so many overeat, take drugs, drink, game too much, escape via fiction, etc.

This is an important movie to learn from.

Modern slavery uses these techniques a lot. And there are more slaves now than ever before. Further, we are bombarded on various levels to make us feel unworthy...so later we can be used; employers do this, spouses do this, politicians do this, etc.

Like learning martial arts to defend ourselves physically, we need to develop psychological self-defense...and this movie provides good insight to how people beat down others.

I have tried to defend Scientology against lots of baseless attacks, but this movie freaking floored me.

First, Alley is a Scientologist Jew pretending to be an immoral Christian (as in this clip, she wears a cross in the movie).

Also, after all the slander about Scientologists manipulatively taking over peoples lives, why would she do this movie!

Lastly, in perspective of her acting ability, she was too believable in this role...as if this is who she really is. Scary.

Just found out Kirstie Ally is a Scientologist, which made me lose all respect for her but she did an incredible job in this tv movie. Superb acting.
