ps3 play tv in ireland, irish/uk freeview channels

hi have you downloaded the update for playtv? i have read a lot of bad stuff regarding how it works after the update and reports of losing videos, that wouldnt be a problem for me but our PVR has packed up and we are thinking of getting this, so i'm just wondering if you have downloaded the update, what your experiences have been since.

@etho42 i did download the update, a while ago, never noticed anything different about the system, it is good, i think, just make sure you have a good digital aerial on ya house

What Channels do u get...and did you u also get a uk freeview reception cuz i see 4music and five there?

@TheJojobinks yes everyone that has a freeview tv, or freeview box gets the entire freeview uk channels list, provided you have a digital aerial, connected to your tv.

Hi, very interested in buying one of these, just wondering if you could help me. I have a 3 year old 32'' panasonic 1080p tv with DVB (digital video broadcast) the tv itself won't pick up any channels other than analogue, however a mate of mine near by recently bought a tv with a free view tuner built in and he can get all the channels you have im wondering does the play tv accessory act as a tunner and to get these channels if so would it work for me !

@scoopoonesix hello i think what your trying to say is, can i plug in this accessory on its own to my tv, acting as a tuner, without the ps3? well no you cant, it plugs direct into the ps3 via usb port, so dont buy this, if you have not got a ps3 system

@scoopoonesix ok now i understand, this accessory works as a DVB-Tuner, any tv pluged into the ps3 will display it, in great picture quality, do u have a digital tv aerial?

if not, maybe thats why your tv won't pick up the digital channels

@zeontech1 Where are you located, I really think its because the tuner in my telly does not support the format being broadcast. As i bought my tuner before the standard was defined hopefully this tuner will fix it? waiting for it in post.
