  • @knight3191 yeah its true, no doubt about them traing hard. But there is a combination. A vast majority in powerlifting uses steroids. I have a lot of friends who does powerlifting, they compete high up. They said that anyone who does this extreme sport are jacked with something. Think about it, a guy weighing 140-5 kg alot of muscles, needs to eat constantly if he needs to be clean. And the strain on muscle and body by their intense workouts. Cmon dont tell me they are just on protein shakes ;)

  • Yeah steroids are cheating without a doubt, especially in bb'ing and powerlifting (a sport where your encouraged to use them). They're cheating cause you don't have to eat or train. I just injected 1 hour ago and my bench went up 300 pounds.

  • I just got into PL as well, and after several months of my numbers going up, doing a rotation of the big three (and often overhead press as well), my back is starting to give out earlier and at lower weights, when doing deads (and squats to a lesser degree). I have read other similar accounts online, and the general advice seems to be to rotate deads/squats, so each is hit no MORE OFTEN than every 10 days, but possibly every other week (14 days).

    Thoughts anyone? Will this hurt my progress?

    Week 1:

    Monday: Squats

    Wed: Flat Bench (BB)

    Fri: Overhead Press/Clean & Press

    Week 2

    Monday: Deads

    Wed: Flat Bench (DB)

    Friday: OV Press, Chins, or Clean & Press

  • Wtf. If you just got into PL there's no reason to squat/dl every 2 weeks :P. Check out Starting Strength (or other programs, such as Starr's 5x5, etc.) for more info... I'm squatting 3 times a week, and dead-lifting once a week. Been going for over half a year, and no problems. Also, MAKE SURE YOUR FORM IS CORRECT, OR YOU WILL CAUSE IRREPARABLE DAMAGE.

  • Powerlifting is serious indeed, test of strength and all that. I still wonder what drives people going to power lifting? Testosterone junkies? It's just my opinion, but i think that general strength training + boxing gives more benefits and more useful in life.

    I just got into powerlifting myself. I will tell you what drove me.

    It's a very personal thing. I am doing this to improve my health and to become a better person. Not everyone who powerlifts has esteem issues or are muscle junkies. In my own life, being able to lift a shit ton of weight will be beneficial. If I am going to be an effective mover of boxes, I'm going to need the strength.

    Does this give you a better understanding?
