truly very sad. nader is a good guy but he made a fool of himself trying to match wits with triumph. it was almost painful to watch this (when not hilarious)
Nader's reputation and accomlplishments as a consumer advocate have been tarnished by his narcissistic and pointless presidential campaigns that have only succeeded in making him appear humorless and out of touch with mainstream America. "What are the Simpsons?" I mean, really.
All you who say that Nader is a narcissist all because he ran for president will continue to bully down any third party that wants to ever make a change. Shame on you!Third parties have a history of change (The Abolitionists (anti-slavery) and the Women's Liberation Movement (women's right to vote). You just can't accept that a candidate wants to stop the 2-party monster that continues to steamroll our lives, because it would take too much effort.
This is the funniest thing I've ever seen! Of the two, the puppet was the one who could piece together intelligent thoughts. Nader was totally out of his place doing this.
Ralph Nader, you have been called a champion of the consumer, a kook, a nutjob, a mistake, a self important narcissist windbag, without merrit, human feces, dog feces, unidentifiable feces, a confused dothering douchebag and an all around terrible guy...rofl!! SUCK IT NADER FAN BOYS!! DID YOU ENJOY ONCE AGAIN THROWING YOUR VOTE AWAY?
Suck on that did you enjoy seeing your tax dollars line the pockets of Wall Street CEOs? Did you enjoy Obama going back on his promise of raising taxes on the rich?
You know half of you kids would be dead if it wasn't for Nader pushing for car safety. The other half would be wondering if they're parents would punish them for watching this video. By voting for Nader you're saying screw you to the other candidates. The people didn't elect George Bush, the politicians did. Look up what Obama tried to do with guns in Illinois and look up electoral college in your high school history books.
prove himself (although, so far not so good, yet he's praised AS IF he's accomplished so much!). Mr. Nader has. History will absolve ralph nader from any "republicat" poison! A fascist two party dictatorship.
Ralph Nader has tirelessly and selflessly devoted his life to helping ALL OF US have a better life, at the cost of corporate next- quarter-profits. Ad hominem attacks on Ralph Nader by the Republicrat one-party fascist state and its dupes are to be expected. But don't blame him for the Republicans stealing that election. Mannnnnnnnnn F Nader dude is such a wate of time in running for any form of gov. Only a dude like wit would even waste time sitting wit triumph. And he got killed!!! HAHAHA!!
"Attention whoring"? "Idiot"? Compared to whom/what? G Bush? The Republican party? The Democratic party? You? You must be joking. I wish I could view this as comedy, but I dont. The *Issue* here is; that a lot of Americans believe this way. It is amazing after 9-11 how everyone was calling out for a *Hero*. Sadly they dont recognize a *Hero* when they have one. The societies mores are very ill minded. There is no happy pill that can fix it! Very sad, when one entertains themselves to this degree. The future is going to be the waste land of these like minded individuals.... This in no way is funny to me! Nader is a Hero!
Oh, and that 'Triumph' character is not even funny. He's just another talentless, vulgar, lying corporate schill (puppet?) on national TV, attempting to manipulate your opinion (and keep his pathetic little job)by inanely deriding a truly noble human being. Ralph Nader's success shows how much America can be 'the shit'.
And Yah, when an puerile twat like 'Triumph' blathers irrelevant, mentally-challenged slurs at someone who deserves respect it pisses me off. Go figure...
Who do you respect BB? Cause technically you owe Ralph Nader some, as he has been earning it for forty years. Although I am beginning to wonder why he's bothered...
RE"It's called comedy. Don't have to take everything seriously. Enjoy life."
Fair enough, glory, I realise that sometimes "comedy isn't pretty". And that even though I didn't find this bit humourous, that is entirely a matter of individual opinion. What bugs me about it is that Ralph Nader has to agree to such appearances simply because he is otherwise ignored by the corporate media.Which, it seems to me, is much less than he deserves considering his track record.
Right, 0613162k. I saw that "Theatre of the Absurd" vid already (T2U), it was awesome. In fact, its what brought me to this video. lol, idiots like the guy with his hand up the ass of this puppet crack me up: They may actually believe that, idioms aside, there are any real differences between a corporately owned candidate representing the Democratic party and a corporately owned candidate representing the Republican party. On second thought, it makes me feel kind of sad for the American people.
poor Ralph. that dog isn't even funny. Ralph handled himself well though. The things good people have to do in this country to get visibility! Vote Nader!!
What an insipid comment. Its never a waste of a vote if the candidate has merit. R.Nader would win, if voters would spend 2 mins on research. He has forty(count'em FORTY)years of successful exp. serving Americans.FOIA, Safe Drinking Water Act;shit you should already know. R. Nader is on 45 states' ballots,so if that %60 of you who abstained last time got off your asses and bothered to vote a 'Jeffersonian' revolution is entirely possible, and constitutional too.
See , you just proved my point, NO ONE is going to take the time to take 2 minutes to research him. Im not saying Nader is a douche or anything, hes got good polices and shit, ive read some stuff hes done and its good stuff. But not nearly enough ppl are gona vote for him, which is why i technically belive is a waste. Im jus sayin, you can vote for whoever you like.
Just because someone is not voting for the two puppets from the two paradigm parties, it does not mean that they are wasting their vote. As a matter of fact there is no such thing as a wasted vote. It could be argued that a wasted vote is a vote for Obama or McCain because they are both puppet candidates who are controlled by the globalist fascists who pull the strings on the majority of our "elected" officials. They are both the same candidate and they are both traitors to the United States.
Obama and his wife are members of one of the most evil and vile "groups" to ever exist. He and his wife are members of the Council of Foreign Relations. The CFR's stated goals are:
I do but i think your reading too much Wikipedia, seriously, i dont know ALL about the CFR, but i know that there are controversies surrounding them about making a one-world government. But cmon, you really believe that there gonna try to take over the world or something?
I have never gotten any of my information from Wikipedia. I get all of my information from hours upon hours of researching direct sources and documented information.
The creators of the CFR have clearly stated their goals numerous times. If you go by their own words and actions, there is no disputing the fact that they are trying to "transform" the world into a fascist and dictatorial police state that is built upon a one world government, a global economy and a global monetary system.
With that being said, that makes Obama and his advisers traitors to the United States. They are active members of one of the groups who are trying to establish a world system of government, religion and economy.
Obama's head foreign policy adviser is Zbingniew Brzezinski, one of the most evil men to ever walk the planet. Brzezinski helped to create Al Qaeda in the early-mid 1980's, with help from our own CIA under our current Secretary of Defense Bob Gates.
Yes, he is one of the men who helped to create Al Qaeda. One of the other men responsible is our current Secretary of Defense Bob Gates. This is a documented fact.
Brzezinski also founded the Trilateral Commission, whose stated goals are the same as the CFR's. Brzezinski is also one of the men responsible for the cold war. You should read his book "The Grand Chessboard". It is a disgusting book that describes the future plans for the world. Brzezinski wrote this not as someone who was trying to warn the world of these things, he wrote them as the proud architect of the plans.
Brzezinski has been the main geopolitical strategist in the world for decades and is one of the men responsible for shaping world events for well over 4 decades.
On top of that, Obama supports gun control and he supported the banking elite's recent coup of our government, otherwise known as the "bailout".
Ralph Nader is a REAL AMERICAN HERO. He has championed Worker Safety Rights, OSHA, the EPA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and innumerable other laws that have benefited the public. What have John McCain or Barrack Obama done for you besides stick you with trillions of dollars of debt in an unconstitional fat cat bailout and intangle this country in ceaseless, unwinnable wars? WAKE UP AMERICA! 3rd party candidates are the only ones fighting on your behalf.
The real point of this video: Third party candidates do not get the media coverage they deserve in the US. Instead, they get berated and derided by the corporate media via an inane puerile puppet. Almost symbolic, isn't it? Its too bad too: Conan had some skills, back in 1992.
Vote for Ralph Nader in '08. Forty years of successful service (FOIA,Clean Drinking Water Act, and much more) deserves one of your ballots.Give it to him this year. A 'Jeffersonian' revolution is perfectly constitutional!
nader is great...if we properly regulated corporations like he's always advocated, we wouldn't be staring down at this economic debacle we are in now.
wow, that's so ridiculous! Ralph Nadar is great, a good sport as fore commented and I wish he was in these debates....he would have pushed McCain to an even earlier grave than Obama will
I haven't seen a Triumph interview for a while so I don't know if it was Smigel who is getting lame or just the dynamic that he had with Nader. Nader isn't unsuspecting enough or naive enough to fall for some of the traps and some of Smigel's material seemed to be really reaching...props to Ralph for going on and taking abuse. There were some funny parts for both of them, but just seemed kind of lame.
triumph is lame now. he used to be cool, but robert smigel hasn't brought any creativity to this character in years. it's the same shit (pun intended) all the time. what's sad is that people are still laughing at the same joke for the thousandth time, like robots.
I actually think Ralph held his own and comes out on top after this prime example of the "Theater of the Absurd." Triumph was at a loss when Ralph began speaking a foreign language and Triumph tried all he could to demean Ralph, who anyone (regardless of political leanings) would have been rooting for in this exchange. Ralph showed he was undeserving of the distasteful insults. It is sad that in this country such a phenomenal public advocate is subjected to this type of nonsense.
It is funny, at Ralph's expense. It is also to his credit that he would do just about anything to reach out to people, as he has been excluded from the media at large. The real joke is on all of us, because the people who run the country have the same contempt for us as "Triumph" has for Nader.
You miss the point. Sure Ralph got ripped. He's doing anything to get some recognition. You fail to recognize that one of those 2 clowns that you might vote for are being taken seriously, while Ralph is being humiliated, so laugh it up the joke is on you.
I'm a Ron Paul fan and I would have been laughing. The thing about Ron Paul is he has a sense of humor and he would've went along with it. People need to lighten up and poke some fun at themselves. Conan's show is not the place for serious political discussion anyway. On late night nobody is safe.
Not even funny. No wonder I don't support Conan and haven't been a fan since the real talent on the show left...Andy Richter. I can't believe Smigel would do this.
Why if the fucking hell did Nader agree to do an interview with Triumph? Did he think there was a chance Smigel would go easy on him? Is he SO desperate for publicity of any kind?
He may have been trying to come off as funny, but instead he came off as old and lame.
The Media has BLACKED OUT ALL 3RD Party Candidates THE NEW YORK TIMES wont even address the REAL ISSUES So what is left 4 him to do As Ralph puts it "Someone plays a beautiful violin in the desolate Sahara does that someone play a beautiful violin ?"
He is An American Hero
Corporate Criminals hve RIPPED & RAPED this Great Country in the NAME of shire GREED He speaks 4 not just this generation but 4 our childrens children & their future
I understand it's the only way for him to get exposure, but open your eyes...this wasn't the kind of exposure he needed. Did he get to push any of those uber-important political platforms? Nope, he spent the entire time trying not to let Triumph make him look like a joke.
I respect Ralph, his experience, his past and what he's trying to do, I just think this particular appearance did nothing whatsoever to further that agenda. All it did was perpetuate the "Nader's a joke" meme.
Well at least he hasn't been reduced to calling someone a bitch who will never read his worthless post. And I won't bother with your response. It's karma, bitch.
Triumph is hirlarious, but a lot of his insults here were more demeaning than funny. If Nader had a better sense of humor and creativity, he could've returned some of his insults. His unfunny backtalk only fueled Triumph's comedy. What I would pay to see is Triumph vs. Robin Williams, one of the few people, I think, would upstage Triumph.
You know, the Triumph bit always has him insulting the subject of the interview. This isn't new. Smigel does not hate Nader nor does he have some sort of agenda against him. Smigel is just doing his job. What? You expected Triumph to get down there and start sucking Nader's cock?

Although I'm a huge Ralph Nader fan as well as a Conan/Triumph fan, this video is just FUCKING SAD!
I feel so bad for Nader. He's ignored by the corporate media, so he's trying to get all the airtime he can. But he didn't want to do this video, you can tell. Its not him. Nader's not the type of guy who would want to try to get a word in by arguing with a puppet with a hand up its ass. He's a national hero and a presidential candidate, for Christ's sake!
I lost a lot of respect for Robert Smigel. He clearly hates Nader and it soured this interview. How sad that Nader is trying so hard to improve things in this country while Smigel undermines it. 3rd parties were once an important part of politics in this country for pushing issues and now everyone allows them to be marginalized. What if everyone allowed that to happen when they were forcing the issues of women's right to vote and freeing the slaves??
Yes this was most certainly a set up. But Nader can hold his own. Obviously Nader is out of his element when he faces a guy who's profession is thinking of the best insults. Nader's profession is thinking of the best way to improve America. So it's a mismatch. I give props to Nader for being brave enough to face triumph - I just wish Conan had the balls to interview Ralph Nader himself. This kind of interview goes nowhere, just makes the public more ignorant of Nader's accomplishments.
Nader is not DUMB, he knew exactly what he was getting into...i think he knows he's not a chance of winning...and just takes pride in 'shaking up' things...also, he's funny
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Honestly, Nader got off pretty easy. Everyone who has suffered from Katrina or the Iraq war should confront him like this.
The guy just shows up every 4 years and takes away votes from the lesser of two evils. Yeah he's principled, yeah he is right about corporations running America, but his actions are making things even worse,
There is much more he could be doing than running for president. I don't see how getting 1% of the vote every 4 years accomplishes anything.
Why do you want some one who you think is evil running our country in the first place? I personally would abstain from voting if my only choice was to vote for evil. The only people responsible for Bush being elected twice are the lame ass Dems and there complete ineptitude in running a campaign! How much has changed in the last 2 years??????
Honestly, the democrats(i assume you support them because u hate the republicans)use nader as a scapegoat every time they lose the election.lol. instead of blaming someone for their presidential incompetence(flip flopping/changing platforms eachtime a newcorporate donor hops on board) u should go out and get the millions of democrats in florida and other swing states to actually vote/not vote for a republican. that would be the problem u need to address. democrats have nothing on Nader.
Instead of forcing him out, maybe we should be pressuring the "viable" candidates to rethink their positions and discuss the taboo issues. Or even better, we could demand that the "Commission on Presidential Debates" allow more participation than the Democrats and Republicans it's comprised of and push for instant run-off ballots. I would not vote for a Republican or a Democrat, but I vote for a Democrat as my 2nd option on a run-off ballot. What is the argument against this?? Too many choices??
The only reason Gore got as many votes as he did in 2000 was because of Nader. Nader's campaign forced Gore to get his policies aligned with that of progressives. You could argue that Gore, as a result, stole votes from Nader.
triumph has been funny in the past, making fun on people who it is fun to watch get made fun of, but this was just kind of...not funny? it was like colbert, being the over the top ridiculous political character, but triumph had nothing to back his claims up. there wasn't even the typical quick wit. it seemed like they were trying to call Ralph stupid for the sake of calling him stupid? Ralph was a good sport for doing this for them, they could have showed a little respect.
ROBERT SMIGEL is the guy under the table..... Conan O'Brien producer. And Smigel and O'Brien?....hours 'till their passing. Steel coffin courtesy of Lockheed Martin. Their hearts....not screwed on.
I saw Ralph right after this and he was more than happy to have done it. What people seem to not understand, and maybe it is because they are used to the smell of crap that is our elections, that Ralph does not care about his legacy. His is not Bill Clinton. He is willing to destroy his name in order to advance his ideals. Egomaniacs are only concerned with how people think about them. WHy people are unable to see this is odd. Much like martyrdom. I forgot sacrifice is unAmerican.

Whatch youtube video entitled:
"Media Blackout - Theater of the Absurd"
Nader has the last laugh mocking a comedian under the table playing an insult dog.
0613162k 3 years ago
Right, 0613162k. I saw that "Theatre of the Absurd" vid already (T2U), it was awesome. In fact, its what brought me to this video. lol, idiots like the guy with his hand up the ass of this puppet crack me up: They may actually believe that, idioms aside, there are any real differences between a corporately owned candidate representing the Democratic party and a corporately owned candidate representing the Republican party. On second thought, it makes me feel kind of sad for the American people.
rhysfawr4 3 years ago
poor Ralph. that dog isn't even funny. Ralph handled himself well though. The things good people have to do in this country to get visibility! Vote Nader!!

yea thats a waste of a vote.. you actually think he has even a chance to win?
and triumphs the shit, dont mess with him
BanglishBoy 3 years ago
RE:"yea thats a waste of a vote.."
R. Nader is on 45 states' ballots,so if that %60 of you who abstained last time got off your asses and bothered to vote a 'Jeffersonian' revolution is entirely possible, and constitutional too.
rhysfawr4 3 years ago
See , you just proved my point, NO ONE is going to take the time to take 2 minutes to research him. Im not saying Nader is a douche or anything, hes got good polices and shit, ive read some stuff hes done and its good stuff. But not nearly enough ppl are gona vote for him, which is why i technically belive is a waste. Im jus sayin, you can vote for whoever you like.
BanglishBoy 3 years ago
Just because someone is not voting for the two puppets from the two paradigm parties, it does not mean that they are wasting their vote. As a matter of fact there is no such thing as a wasted vote. It could be argued that a wasted vote is a vote for Obama or McCain because they are both puppet candidates who are controlled by the globalist fascists who pull the strings on the majority of our "elected" officials. They are both the same candidate and they are both traitors to the United States.
RandleEl11 3 years ago
obama isnt a puppet!
How is he a traitor to the States?
You think that nader can run the country, i really doubt that, he has some good policies and shit but i doubt he could run the states.
and i think having a leader like obama will acutally bring some good change to the states. Unlike that old bag Mccain with his douche of a "VP"
BanglishBoy 3 years ago
"obama isnt a puppet!"
You wouldn't say that if you knew the facts.
Obama and his wife are members of one of the most evil and vile "groups" to ever exist. He and his wife are members of the Council of Foreign Relations. The CFR's stated goals are:
1.) Erase national sovereignty.
2.) Establish a new world order.
Do you know what both of these mean and entail?
RandleEl11 3 years ago
I do but i think your reading too much Wikipedia, seriously, i dont know ALL about the CFR, but i know that there are controversies surrounding them about making a one-world government. But cmon, you really believe that there gonna try to take over the world or something?
BanglishBoy 3 years ago
I have never gotten any of my information from Wikipedia. I get all of my information from hours upon hours of researching direct sources and documented information.
The creators of the CFR have clearly stated their goals numerous times. If you go by their own words and actions, there is no disputing the fact that they are trying to "transform" the world into a fascist and dictatorial police state that is built upon a one world government, a global economy and a global monetary system.
RandleEl11 3 years ago

"How is he a traitor?"

"ZB created al Qaeda? Put down the crack pipe."

There were some funny parts for both of them, but just seemed kind of lame.
skrammy28 3 years ago 2
triumph is lame now. he used to be cool, but robert smigel hasn't brought any creativity to this character in years. it's the same shit (pun intended) all the time. what's sad is that people are still laughing at the same joke for the thousandth time, like robots.
uncreativeID 3 years ago
I actually think Ralph held his own and comes out on top after this prime example of the "Theater of the Absurd." Triumph was at a loss when Ralph began speaking a foreign language and Triumph tried all he could to demean Ralph, who anyone (regardless of political leanings) would have been rooting for in this exchange. Ralph showed he was undeserving of the distasteful insults. It is sad that in this country such a phenomenal public advocate is subjected to this type of nonsense.
jaybird1980 3 years ago 4
It is funny, at Ralph's expense. It is also to his credit that he would do just about anything to reach out to people, as he has been excluded from the media at large. The real joke is on all of us, because the people who run the country have the same contempt for us as "Triumph" has for Nader.
longsilver1 3 years ago 2
LOL @ the Nader fans being butt hurt over this video. If this had been Obama, or even Ron Paul for that matter, you would be the first ones to laugh.
ZidaneVsMoths 3 years ago
You miss the point. Sure Ralph got ripped. He's doing anything to get some recognition. You fail to recognize that one of those 2 clowns that you might vote for are being taken seriously, while Ralph is being humiliated, so laugh it up the joke is on you.
longsilver1 3 years ago 2
I'm a Ron Paul fan and I would have been laughing. The thing about Ron Paul is he has a sense of humor and he would've went along with it. People need to lighten up and poke some fun at themselves. Conan's show is not the place for serious political discussion anyway. On late night nobody is safe.
docgoodandthegood 3 years ago
Not even funny. No wonder I don't support Conan and haven't been a fan since the real talent on the show left...Andy Richter. I can't believe Smigel would do this.

Why if the fucking hell did Nader agree to do an interview with Triumph? Did he think there was a chance Smigel would go easy on him? Is he SO desperate for publicity of any kind?

Good try though, Ralph.

Triumph is hirlarious, but a lot of his insults here were more demeaning than funny. If Nader had a better sense of humor and creativity, he could've returned some of his insults. His unfunny backtalk only fueled Triumph's comedy. What I would pay to see is Triumph vs. Robin Williams, one of the few people, I think, would upstage Triumph.
nkerio 3 years ago
You know, the Triumph bit always has him insulting the subject of the interview. This isn't new. Smigel does not hate Nader nor does he have some sort of agenda against him. Smigel is just doing his job. What? You expected Triumph to get down there and start sucking Nader's cock?

I feel so bad for Nader. He's ignored by the corporate media, so he's trying to get all the airtime he can. But he didn't want to do this video, you can tell. Its not him. What if everyone allowed that to happen when they were forcing the issues of women's right to vote and freeing the slaves??

martini1179 3 years ago
Yes this was most certainly a set up. But Nader can hold his own. Obviously Nader is out of his element when he faces a guy who's profession is thinking of the best insults. Nader's profession is thinking of the best way to improve America. So it's a mismatch. I give props to Nader for being brave enough to face triumph - I just wish Conan had the balls to interview Ralph Nader himself. This kind of interview goes nowhere, just makes the public more ignorant of Nader's accomplishments.

IAimToMisbehave42 3 years ago
Why do you want some one who you think is evil running our country in the first place? I personally would abstain from voting if my only choice was to vote for evil. The only people responsible for Bush being elected twice are the lame ass Dems and there complete ineptitude in running a campaign! How much has changed in the last 2 years??????
emoney5210 3 years ago 7
Honestly, the democrats(i assume you support them because u hate the republicans)use nader as a scapegoat every time they lose the election.lol. instead of blaming someone for their presidential incompetence(flip flopping/changing platforms eachtime a newcorporate donor hops on board) u should go out and get the millions of democrats in florida and other swing states to actually vote/not vote for a republican. that would be the problem u need to address. democrats have nothing on Nader.
alexvido123 3 years ago 5
Instead of forcing him out, maybe we should be pressuring the "viable" candidates to rethink their positions and discuss the taboo issues. Or even better, we could demand that the "Commission on Presidential Debates" allow more participation than the Democrats and Republicans it's comprised of and push for instant run-off ballots. I would not vote for a Republican or a Democrat, but I vote for a Democrat as my 2nd option on a run-off ballot. What is the argument against this?? Too many choices??
mralanb 3 years ago
The only reason Gore got as many votes as he did in 2000 was because of Nader. Nader's campaign forced Gore to get his policies aligned with that of progressives. You could argue that Gore, as a result, stole votes from Nader.

What people seem to not understand, and maybe it is because they are used to the smell of crap that is our elections, that Ralph does not care about his legacy. His is not Bill Clinton.
