  • Fateh Singh Gangani (the person on the pakhawaj) was our music teacher in school. A gem of a person and extremely humble and amiable.

We spent so many morning assemblies listening to him on the tabla and when he used to stick "atta" on his pakhawaj to tune it, it was much fun.

  • Classic!

  • fuck your hitler discussions im here to learn his sarod picking style!

  • these musicians cannot teach us iranians about music. the sarod, santur, setar etc are all iranian instruments. we also have a body of literature of persian that is un paralleled. we do not need to go to the british tax payer for any pittance of patron.

  • @londoniran Brother with due respect to your thoughts, not looking for a Fight here but who in todays world actually like the purest form of classical music ??? The songs based on devotion and the enchanted sounds of the percussions while taking the name of the lord be it Hindu bhajans or Sufi Sangeet ... People now more like the noise like METAL and ROCK ... and instead of pointing fingers at other and looking what they do we must enjoy our rich and varied heritage ...

  • Respond to this video... Iranian instruments they are for sure ... i don't deny that ... doesn't mean the improvisation on the instrument is also Iranian ... that is personal and varies from person to person ...

In India music is a Science if u go into the intricacies of it .. the shrutis are mere frequencies coming out due to interference of sound ... and the amount of expertise that Indian Music has is just vast and incredible ...

  • Respond to this video... And lastly YES it is an iranian instrument but the form of music being played is "HINDUSTANI SHASTRIYA SANGEET" so plz i request u not to fight and enjoy the music with us :D

    Thanks Bro :D

  • @londoniran

U basterd retard, this instrument is truely indian and Persians/iranians have done theft of most ancient indian concpets of music. Sitar and Veena are mothers of all string instruments in world and Indian Drum Pakhawaj is a percusssion instum. used by lord Shiva, is father of all kinds of drums! Indians have respect for each tradition of music but when buttbrains like u go racist we are not gonna tolerate!

  • Just because a fascist dictator uses a fascist composer to his ends does not stain the entire world of art and culture. The fact is Hitler is dead and the arts and culture live on! Sooner all those with such tendencies understand the better it will be for all! I have better things to do then sit on the internet indefinitely but it was nice to have this interaction with you. Listen to some good Amjad Ali Khan music and it will calm you down!

  • but was this not said also by hitler?

  • yes indeed. i am.

  • @londoniran In that case your concern for the British tax payer is very touching! Thanks but in this country we like to support culture, being the essence of any civilised and broad-minded society.

  • @vibbaxi weimar republic and wagnar- high clture

  • @londoniran I think there is nothing fascist about supporting and appreciating arts and culture - they represent the finer sensibilities of human emotions and existence - and if you think Hitler stood for all that then your recollection of history leaves something to be desired. The British have opened their doors to so many nationalities and cultures and supported their activities - yes by way of tax payer support ! And it does not need lecture from you lot!

  • they should all be stopped - all

  • @londoniran In this country we respect arts and culture - no matter from what part of the world! Be it museums, theatre, music, opera, what have you! And the British tax payers are generally happy to support this as long as it is reasonable. I am not sure from where you come but perhaps presumably there the tax payer is saved this burden hence your views? May be better for you to be a tax payer there?

  • but it still was at the british tax payer who funded this lot for 20 years- out of which these artistes paid their taxes. so the tax payer paid the money in the first place.

    what a sacm !!

  • @londoniran With respect not all promoters who bring these artists are financed by the British tax payer except for some organisations which do get Arts Council support. And it is not just this lot, as you call them, who are supported by Arts Council. Far far more money goes towards funding of the Arts in this country to non-Asian musicians. You obviously have your preconceived notions but let that not prevent you from getting your facts right! Asian artists are paid far less relative to others!

  • oi mate, how much money have u received from the british tax payer over the last 20 years?

  • @londoniran

Not as much I bet as you lot! Artist fees are tax deducted at source in the UK for your info before you go on making pathetic allegations on artists!

  • amazing,,,,,,,,,

  • I love the way Ustad Amjad Ali Khan encourages the tabla player or the pakhawaj player accompanying him to have a go on their own and show their skills. I see this in almost all his videos and even during a live concert I attended in Mumbai where there were two tabla players...one of whom was Pt. Anindo Chaterjee's son Anubrata. Every now and then, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan encouraged them to engage in a jugalbandi. He understands that a great Tabla solo piece can really liven up any concert.

  • @leonine33 thats a mridangam i think

  • spellbinding !!

  • Beautiful - once again well done to Navras!

  • Wow! Ustadji's sense of Ras is so refined and perfect, that once simply runs out out words while attempting to appreciate his work! No doubt we live in fortunate times to have such a great master amongst us. May god bless him with a long life!

  • What is ugly about this music? Your insight will be useful.

  • nothing at all, it just requires patience.

I mean this kind of music takes time before you start getting into it.

  • @teaser2233 UGLINESS?!?! YOU HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT INDIAN MISIC!!!!!

  • Very beautiful.

  • it is quite obvious that sheer insanity has gripped this paagaldas-lets not try to convince this lout on who amjad ali is-lets reinforce his madness-thats the only way spastics get comfort in life.

  • Just pure losers they remain.

  • Why are you guys questioning the brilliance of Amjad ali khan? He is a maestro. And this piece is excellent. I have heard this entire album and it is bliss ful.

He first plays the Mian Malhar in this album and it is heavenly.

Then he has a Raag des composition in rupak taal which is extremely melodious.

  • sarodfan is absolutely correct in his/her analysis of AAK's musical career.he is a commercial artist only.pulp fiction as below is correct.after watching him play live for over 35 years,i endorse the sad but true views expressed by others.

  • What a musican!

  • Sudhir, with due respect to Khan Sahib, Paagaldas does have a point. Any connoisseur worth his salt will agree that Khan Sahib's music has deteriorated progressively, although his sarod technique remains intact. It is possibly because he has stopped thinking about his music - probably because he has no incentive to. People at the top stagnate very easily because they think they have no one to compete against. And then, there are many legitimate challengers to his supremacy now.

  • Further clarification: Amjad Ali was such a great sarodiya and wonderful musician in his elements, that it truly pains one to see this colossus in ruins.

  • Instead of focusing on the greenbacks, a reputable label like Navras ought to focus on quality music: not just recordings of Amjad Ali and Vilayat Khan in their creative twilight. Even at the end, VK retains a lot more class than Amjad Ali. Focus on the future of sarod, and it most certainly ain't Amaan or Ayaan Ali.

  • Mr Pagaldas

If you have the courage of your conviction don't hide behind a pseudonym. I will not credit a coward with any other response.

    Vibhaker Baxi

  • There is no vulgarity on display here. Stop over-exaggerating your points - you're not convincing anyone.
