  • Very very beautiful bird!!!

  • @valttu94 I agree. It's always to have Blue Jays around the feeder - even if they can't play nice with other birds very well.

  • I have seen Blue Jays in my neighbor hood they fly into you trees in our front yard all the time to eat acorns and seeds from the bird feeder. They are pretty birds.

  • @Cars2fan172 I love having blue jays in my yard.

  • The only popular blue jay to reach celebrity status is the one that became the groundskeeper.

  • @BoogsterSU2 Mordecai!!!

  • I saw one yesterday morning, beautiful bird.

  • @JesterMudfly I agree. This is a very majestic bird.

  • Awesome! :) It helps to learn what God created! Good job, man! :)

  • If you want to attract blue jays,,, they LOVE unsalted peanuts in the shell... I throw peanuts off my balcony and they swoop down in the yard and grab the peanuts.. I had 9 of them outside today,, they are so funny! A poor little titmouse was trying to grab a peanut and they jays keep scaring the poor little guy ,,, I waited till they left then threw one towards the titmouse so he finally got his share :)

  • @ancientswordfighters Thanks for the tip!

  • MORDECAI ON RS YEAHUHHHHH!!!!!! Its J.G. Quintel Talking On This Video!!!

  • They play punchies for who gets to eat the seeds first.

  • Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • they come from a very hearty stock

i saw them flying in the winds and rain of Hurricane

Irene as if nothing much was going on

  • The narrator kind of sounds like Mordecai LOL!

  • @cgsilverscreen2020 I think he sounds like the host of the Better Beer Authority.

  • @cgsilverscreen2020 no he doesn't

  • @exposed97 Good for him!

  • Nice documentary on the bluejay.

  • Really show you should NEVER go for looks alone.

  • Mordecai!

  • The feeder was supposed to keep jays and squirrels away.....how'd that work out!!!! Good video though!

  • @Mantisman630 It as least kept the squirrels away. I had fun watching the squirrels try and figure it out.

  • @Mantisman630

Oh they are NOT dumb! In fact they will follow me, at 3:00pm as that is the time when I reload my feeders!

If I am out side at any other time maybe I might see one, but not as many as 3:pm!

  • Mordecai!

  • @shortstop34 Are you Canadian?

  • Now there's a bird that can throw his weight around a feeder! Great job, James!

  • MORDECAI! Sorry for all of the regular show spam. Very nice documentary

  • I counted about six young blue jays in my back yard yesterday, they were so small that I would have to guess that they just left the nest.

  • @MooseTactic Very exciting!

  • BLUE JAYS ARE AWESOME O-O

  • Mordecai from regular show!!!!!!!!!

  • I really like your mini-documentaries. Great photography!

  • 0:22 lol poor sparrow. xD

  • @Giradox Don't worry about him too much. Those sparrows got tons of food from that feeder. Way more than the blue jays!

  • Go Blue Jays

  • Such Gorgeous birds they are.I have a Tattoo of a Blue Jay bird on my leg. It's in the loving memory of my cosin Jason. His nickname was J-Bird.I'm adding to it after my operation.

  • man that sparrow is brave .

  • Pure sunflower seed is great, but I find it's usually necessary to have a separate, high quality mix so the house sparrows stay contained. White millet is actually great, it's wheat and milo that few, if any, species are interested in. Most towns have a wild bird store that can help you find the best arrangement.

  • Blue jays have structural, as opposed to pigmented, colour - if you crush one of their feathers, it will turn brown in your hand.

  • @ClimateSightful I love this fun fact!

  • @ClimateSightful how is that possible ? does its structure reflect the light in a certain way or how is this working out ? O-o

  • @ClimateSightful Is this true for stellar jays too?

  • just a note- you really shouldn't use seed mixes like the one in your feeder- a good portion of the seed isn't eaten [e.g. red and white millet] as the shells are too hard for birds to crack open. I feed black oil sunflower seed almost exclusively, sometimes with corn or chopped nuts mixed in

  • @richintalent That's the first time I've heard that. Are the other seeds bad for the birds or do they just go to waste? Thanks for the fun tip!

  • @AgileHProductions they just go to waste- if you watch, the jay flicks the other seeds away

  • @AgileHProductions NOTHING goes to waste, outside! I have 13 bird feeders at my cottage and let me assure you, that there is ALWAYS something that will eat the millet or whatever falls on the ground. I have mixed; oilers; peanuts; suet; thistle and many other types of feed for my birds and each night, the Clean Up Crew comes along and clears everything away. Whether vole, mouse, deer, possums, raccoons or things I can't see, it's ALL eaten and enjoyed.

  • @lambikins I think my dad would say the same thing about his bird feeders. Our feeders are just starting to get busy and I noticed a lot of rabbit pellets on the ground, so I know we have some late-night cleaners too.

  • @AgileHProductions We have 4 feet of snow at the cottage and I love to see the snow tunnels that the wee rodents have made. You can hear them, only, at night, as they scarper about, dragging tasty seeds inside. I'm glad that your Dad likes jays; some people are only attracted to the "lame and pretty" birds. I like them all.

  • Blue Jays rock!

  • @BrentOFCalifornia Blue Jays roll!

  • We had Blue Jays come to our back yard before. I recently build a bird cage with feeders in our back yard with oppenings so that birds can fly in and out so that cats can't get them. I even had doves fly in and out. Maby I will have a Blue Jay visit it one day.

  • That was excellent!

  • @javakogan I'm uploading a video about the American Goldfinch in a few minutes. I hope you will check it out.

  • @AgileHProductions I've seen the goldfinch video. Excellent!

  • Hi again AgileHProductions, great video! Like your other mini-docs, this might be great for the Canada’s Got Treasures collection, which aims to feature Canadian videos of personal or cultural significance. Help celebrate Canadian diversity by joining our YouTube group (/group/TresorTreasure) and submitting your video. It would be made available on our channel and website.

    Hamish,

  • I live on the Hudson River and I have this wacky bluejay that will fly through the open kitchen window and land on my table to get his peanuts. 2 days ago it brought 1 of it's young ones and it had no fear at all. 2 weeks ago I saw 1 standing on the back of a snapping turtle. These thing are a riot to watch !!!

  • i just watched a crazed blue jay attack a squirrel while screaming bloody murder in a tree branch in front of my terrace

  • Gorgeous!

  • My name Jay so this is my bird lol!

  • nice info

  • These are great little minidocs, but I really wish they included at least one example of the birdsong for each species.

  • @agingerbeard I appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately I'm limited to what I actually capture on video. The birds don't seem to sing as much when they are busy eating. I think the chickadee video had some of the best chirping.

  • @AgileHProductions Caught one today on a Golf course near the HWY! It sat on my finger and let me pet him, but a few minutes later it must have come to it's senses it flew off my finger and ran away from me! Very beautiful birds!

  • blue jays are good looking birds, but they're assholes

  • They eat insects that eat my vegetables. I would like more in my garden.

  • @bethpowellnj I would love to have more of them. We moved into a new house and don't have nearly as many birds as we used to.

  • Blue Jays are very pretty birds! I would love to draw these birds.

  • Next time add some bird sounds to your documentary.

  • Go Toronto Blue Jays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @streetcarjay Go Jays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i see blue jays a lot in NJ where I grew up. and according to wikipedia, they're primarily east of the rockies and cover most if not the entire continental US (not excluding canada)

  • they are one of the noisiest birds in the world, trust me

  • when we would go to the farm , my bad says the sound like they are sharpening a sickle

  • Blue jays are survivors and rule the space they occupy with all other birds when eating Beautiful birds Imagine the yard without them Yes - they can be noisy like crows

  • These things are fucking loud. They used to wake me up in highschool during the summer.

  • @Antiks72 me too! i'm sick of being rudely awakened by these damned birds

  • i eat his meat isdeliciouse and his tongue i cant say how crispy it is

  • I've lived in southern California all my life and i always see blue jays here. There's some blue jays that have a nest somewhere in my back yard. They were hollering crazy the other day when i saw a hawk land on a telephone pole. Awesome birds both of them.

  • there not east of the rockies cause i live in california and i had some that lived in front of my house

  • Can we use this footage?

  • What do you want to use it for? The answer is probably yes.

  • <------------you already know

  • blue jays are pretty birds and one of my favorites

  • Excellent video!

  • yep, ive been fooled. looking for a hawk and find a blue jay. they are so friggin cool calm and collected, until disturbed

  • Lovely beautiful bird, great clip.

  • I had no idea that the bluejay was related to the crows.
