  • I love this melody! You taught yourselves how to play piano? That's great! I don't know how to play piano~~but I want to learn how to play by my self. I've watched your older clip! Even thought I don't know how to play piano, but i can realize some improvement~~ I wish somedays, I can play Moonlight Sonata too........for the time being, I just try to practice scale first......

Anyway, nice work! Waiting for your latest video^^

  • @malcard Self taught and still working. Thanks for the compliment and I hope you can play the Moonlight too someday.

  • @malcard RIGHT SO GOOD KEEP ON PLAYING AND IF ITS YOUR PATION U REALY SHOULD ^__^\

  • Bravo!!

  • Just a little faster

  • Very nice performance! And a really big improvement over the first video (even though the first video was pretty good as well)

I can't wait to get a digital piano so i can play this song =) I learnt this on a 61 key keyboard so i had to play this song an octave higher which didn't sound so good...

  • Well, thanks! That's the same as me, I first learnt it on a 61 keys too.

Doesn't your keyboard have a transpose function, so you can make it sound an octave lower? This way you'd play as the sheet says and would miss only one note, the highest C#, I think.

  • Nope it doesn't seem to have a transpose function. However I selected some 'bass' tone which makes it sound like an octave lower, although it doesn't sound like a piano with that tone. In fact, you can watch one of my vids to see what my keyboard looks like, and hear what Moonlight Sonata sounds like on it as well =).

Also, I remember very distinctly that I had to leave out that one very high note hehe

Anyway I'm planning on getting a Casio PX-330 tomorrow. I hope it's as good as your piano!

  • go faster, original goes twise faster,, however sounded ok

  • Well, it depends very much on who performs it. Daniel Barenboim and Ignaz Friedman plays it even slower than me. And there are others, like Wilhelm Kempff who plays it faster, but not in half of my timing, though, just about 2 min faster. Anyway, thanks for the comment.

  • no, no no,,,, sorry i did not know about those players you mentioned,i just got used to a faster version, but your performance is good, very good.. thanks for uploading

  • Hey, quick question. I started piano a few months back and I was thinking of upgrading from the crappy misc keyboard I've been using to practice to a yahama P-70. The keys felt really good, and so did the sound when I tried, but just to be cautious are there anything pros and cons you could share about it?

  • I think it's a fairly good one considering its price. Much better than Casio Privias, for instance. I recommend it.

  • Marcelo, Nice performance. You keep getting better.

  • Very nice.

  • Greetings from the silver buddy P-70S: Nice play! Keep moving!

  • woww!! very nice... which one is easier, this one or nocturne??... i love how u play :P

  • To play it so-so the Moonlight is easier, since it's not fast and there aren't much technical difficulties. But it's hard to play it nicely... I'm still working on it almost everyday.

And thanks for the nice comments!

  • very nice!!!

I so wanna get better at my piano playing!!

  • i'm pretty new at the piano but i love this song, about how long would you have to practice to be able to play this song?

  • I played so-so after 3 months practice without a teacher and no prior experience on piano playing. But I practised everyday, about 1h per day, and focused only on this piece.

  • Question. How much is the Yamaha P-70?

  • Yamaha has discontinued the P-70 and made a new model, the P-85, which must be better and cheaper than the P-70. I don't know how much it costs though.

  • Great job. I see you are teaching yourself how to play. Are you learning by ear, or sheet music?

I'm a self-learner too, but I'm probably a bit old to gain any really quick progress :(

  • Thanks! I play by memory, but I read all the notes from sheet music. Don't worry, keep practising and you'll become better as time goes by. Remember that to learn something, one must be very patient!

  • Thanks!

I have another question, the P-70, people say that it is not loud enough. I have no experience in this field at all. What do you think of it?

  • I can't really say anything about it, since I have to play mostly with earphones (to not bother other people). People say that when it's plugged into an amplifier the sound is good though.

  • This is wonderful! I too am learning this piece and you have done a remarkable job!

  • Thank you! My best wishes for you. When you learn it, be sure to post it here too!
