  • Ooh ooh! Request! Could you guys play Equestria Friendship at the next BroNYCon? You know, that parody of America by World Police. That'll get the crowd pump like none other. It's an interactive song after all.

  • You guys were amazing at BroNYCon January 2012! Will you guys be attending BroNYCon Summer 2012 as well? I'd love to hear you guys again!

  • @Xenovile of course!

  • @NeighSlayer

Awesome! You guys should totally look out for me, I'd love to meet you--I'll be the guy with the Rainbow Dash tattoo on my right arm and a to-be-determined tattoo on my left arm. :P

  • @EightTrackPony Thank you for your honesty, that is all I ask. :) As I said there was a lot of chaos, and you SHOULD have -never- been prevented from micing the amps or relocating the monitors. I apologize for my frustration on the manner, since I am split as a musician, and ultimately must play two roles professionally. That being said, I feel this is an easily resolved issue that we can certainly flesh out cordially.

  • @klisk lies

  • How can one band be so bad? What's worse is they think they're good.

  • Bronycon needs to be in LA and Vegas

  • nice performance. makes me really wish i was there.

  • my mother says she will not take me to bronycon, and yet i live in ohio. i shall have to get a car and go by myself

  • WE NEED A BRONYCON UK

  • If I was in New York I'd love to be a part of that group, but alas, I'm in the south.

  • Yeah, it wasn't Everfree Radio's finest hour when they were mixing the concert. Still a decent show IMO.

  • @NeighSlayer Not pointing fingers here, but 2 members didn't have amplifiers for their instruments, which required us to run direct instrument-level inputs to the mixing board. This resulted in VERY uneven levels between 2 mic'd amps, non-mic'd drums, and 2 direct-in instruments, that even the preamps couldn't compensate for to balance out. With absolutely no setup time, we tried our best to balance the mix, but it was an unobtainable goal with the setup & zero time we had.

  • @EightTrackPony Next time, hopefully we'll have much more setup and check time for balancing, which will allow it to be 1000% better. I was literally being yelled at to get off the stage as I was mic'ing the amplifiers, and was told that it would be fine without it, which it obviously would have been even worse. I also brought half a dozen studio condensers that I didn't get to even take out due to the time constraints, that would have sounded 300% better.

  • @EightTrackPony DI'ing bass is pretty much easy mode, especially with the DI equipment used in this case. Your mix sounded horrible for ALL the bands, not just Neighslayer. DI bass is an industry standard these days.

C'mon, the bass was coming out of the PA speakers instead of the subwoofers: Brilliant. It wasn't just levels, but even worse EQ. It isn't that hard, and all the members on Neighslayer were staff. You had all the time in the world to sound check.

  • @klisk The PA and Monitors were not ours. They were setup and placed by the con staff. Their setup & placement were out of our control, and I concur that they were not done ideally. We were having feedback issues the entire time due to their placement.

We most certainly did not have all the time in the world to sound check. The panels were scheduled back to back, with no time for reconfiguration in between. Any time we took to do so, was taking away time from the scheduled panel.

  • @EightTrackPony More advice: Distortion at unity gain is safe. It doesn't mean you MUTE the instrument. Sorry that you only listen to techno. Also: Put the monitors BEHIND the stage, not in FRONT of it. The only time monitors go in front of the stage is when there are stage monitors. (There weren't.)

  • @EightTrackPony I sympathize that there was a lot of chaos going on during the con, but it sounds like a lie that someone told you not to mic the amps. If they did then they weren't even part of the real staff, but volunteers...

Much of the main staff that day come from audio engineering backgrounds. Including the two members with DI inputs, and even the con organizer at the time. At least admit it's your first time on the field with live music instead of making excuses.

  • @klisk Yes, this was our first foray into live music, as we were originally just supposed to be doing recording. As I said before, the PA was not ours, and was not laid out or setup by us. Our gear was all setup for vocal track work. We did the best we could with what we had, but, definitely next time will be different. If you wish to discuss this more in depth with me, including specifics, I'm more than willing to do so privately. Email me, or hit me up in IRC Chat/Skype sometime :)

  • You guys are just awesome! :D

Are you planning touring in Europe this year? XD

  • @ForunkePyro Probably. Depends on funds.

  • Is that an epic goatee I see?

But yes, whowever's in charge have you thought of getting a play back system? That way you could record the rhythm guitars and some filler/ synths. This would enable you guys to sound a bit better live I think.

  • We have to make a Bronycon here in Europe =D

  • @Schaaae All of my yes!

  • @Schaaae EEYUP!

  • I wish I could of gone ! Sucks I live in England. Sounds like you guys were awesome :D

  • Holy fuck, you guys should definitely play 'September' by 'The Living Tombstone'

That shit would fit so well :p

  • fuck yeah

  • You guys need a louder mic, or so it seems..

But other then that, you guys are epic. Also, quite different from the September BroNYCon by the looks of it.

  • The singer looks like a cross between Rob Zombie and the male Wood Elves from Skyrim, and needs to sing 20% louder.

  • Olivine Basalt; the first food ever blamed for causing cancer

  • dude I cried when they played Aj's theme

    best song ever

  • Awesome Job.

  • You guys rocked the joint so hard

  • is there a brony event on the west coast? like in Washington/Oregon

  • @facebag666 actually there's one in Seattle over the summer. I think it's run by the Everfree Radio guys

  • @xFantasyAddicxt i have to go to Seattle this summer thats lucky i am in spokane but i will drive there do you know when it is?

  • @facebag666 Honestly no, I just remembered Mic and BronyMike talking about it. I'd ask BM for more info on his youtube or in a PM or something

  • @xFantasyAddicxt It is not run by EFR. We are in no way associated with EverfreeNW convention other than a catchy name.

  • @xFantasyAddicxt No, we are not running that convention. They are just named similarly, being 'EverFree NW' Doesn't mean we won't be there though! It's being considered!

  • @facebag666 everfreenw (dot) com ~ came across this thro twitter 5 seconds before I saw your comment ;P ~ Live in Sweden myself but you're welcome sir!

  • @Latowl thank you my dear sir

  • Love the performance, just wish I could have been there!
