Thanks - you are obviously a real connoisseur. Enough of the Renoir's, Eisensteins and Fords, here was a man for whom the word 'compromise' didn't exist. Sadly the words 'entertaining', 'audience' and 'value for money' were pretty low down his list as well.

Long overdue. For many years I have been writing to BAFTA and Warners Bros in an effort to get the work of Eric Sproat recognised worldwide.
Film directors, Truffaut, Godard and Werner Herzog were heavily influenced by Sproat’s early work.
Hopefully more lost classics may come to light to show the real talent behind this forgotten genius of British film.
