The only clad silver (40%) Eisenhower's were "S" mint. Blue Ikes (uncirculated) and Brown Ikes (proof). If your Ike is not an "S" mint mark, it's not silver.
Dude, V and U were both originally just two different styles of the letter U. In the Latin language they had no "v" sound, so the v's and u's represented an "oo" sound sometimes and a "w" sound other times. Since this alphabet came to English from Latin, traditionally they were used interchangeably in English. Actually, monuments and inscriptions in stone still use V and U that way sometimes when we build them now.
how would a 1923 peace dollar have to do with coming out of the great depression. that doesnt make sense. and its not a v, but looks like it. if you go watch the spare change episode about peace dollars on youtube you'll see why its like that. also i would never buy anything from ebay. thats just me and that morgan dollar is def not a poor grade. its probably a vg grade. far from poor condition
The word "TRVST" is NOT a misspelling. In the 1920s it was fashionable to use the old Roman alphabet on coins and other objects. In Roman writing, the letter we call "U" was written as "V". There have been several other extensive discussions about this usage in other threads. Regardless of any myths surrounding it, the spelling is purely stylistic and is NOT an error.
When you displayed your 1923 Peace Dollar, you said that "peace" may have something to do with WWI as well as the depression. Only the former is true, since the collapse of the stock market followed by the Depression was in 1929. Other than that, I enjoyed the clarity of the video. Nice job with your good camera. Saw lots of detail. Thanks.
I believe the "V" is interchanged with "U" in latin. Also the Peace dollar was released after WWI with the eagle facing east to keep vigilance while holding arrows and an olive branch in it's talons
how morgans and peace do you have now? i have 24 morgans and 6 peace: 1878 7TF, 1878-S 7TF, 1879, 1880-O, 1881, 1881-O, 1882 O/S variety, 1884, 1885, 1885-O, 1887, 1887-O, 1889, 1889-O, 1890-O, 1892-O, 1896, 1897-S, 1902-O, three 1921, 1921-D, and 1921-S; for the peace: three 1922, 1923-S, 1925, 1934-D
@morgandollarman That is true only for coins with very high grading or UC coins. Any that have a lower grade will not be hurt by touching with your hands. The main reason for not touching with your hands on good coins is because it can leave your fingerprints on the coin.
I only have three eisenhowers and you cant really tell if they are in bad or good condition because there is not very much detail to begin with on the hair or anything.
The font used is an example of the then-popular Art Deco style. This is exemplified by the inscription, "IN GOD WE TRVST," which uses the Latin angular "U". I hope this helps.
what?, The V I think you are talking about is on the peace dollar, and its not an error its just made like that. And yes they are eventually going to make a presidential dollar coin for all the presidents.
thats cool check it out and see if you can see any of the lettering on the edge of the coin if you dont see any letters than you got a rare coin and hold on to it because it is worth a lot of money.
the edge of the coin meaning not the face of the back, the edge on the presidential dollar coin should be smooth except for letters if it is smooth without letters than it is an error coin and it is rare.
i like your videos they're one of the only good videos about coins on youtube....I see so many vids that are crap lol it's good to have a series of videos you can rely on. Keep me updated :)
yeah, I checked out his vids (and basically every single one on youtube haha). They're pretty good, but I haven't seen one in a while, I'll be the first one to know if he puts one up. Oh yeh and I meant to tell you that I'll probably get a new camera around christmas (I have NO money lol so I'll wait till then) and I'll post up some new vids. I got a peace dollar and a Silver eagle from 2008. Oh and a 40% kennedy half. That's about it though for recent purchases.
Hey, nice video. I was wondering the same question about the V on the Peace dollar, so I asked my dad. He said that it was old fashioned, and he's seen it like that in other places. Hope that helps - yomomma21212
The new cam makes alot of difference. Are those Presidetial dollars air sealed? I could get back into silver dollars, but I've been buying up bullion lately.
thanks and yes they are, with silver coins you get the best of both worlds, coins witch can grow in value and silver witch will grow in value. I love 90% halfs they can be very lucrative.
I just counted up most of my silver dollars and between morgan and peace I have over 215 of them including 2 CC's. :)

Touching your coins with bare hands...That is not smart
The SBA Dollars, and SAC Dollars...They are just worth face value, except for one exception, the proof versions, and the 2000 P Cheerios dollar
But back to the touching your coins with bare hands, if you are going to do it, make sure it is just the rims
