  • Irish music is my favorite music, despite the fact that I am not of Irish decent (Scottish though). The irish musicians make the old blues masters (whom I also love) seem like hacks. Just love the melodious nature of the music. Stirs the soul. Never heard of you guys before, but I have now. Wonderful performance. Just a little bit bitter inside with jealousy of your talent. I tip my hat to you gentlemen.

  • I never knew i would like Irish folk, or any folk music,

but this very day i know i do. (But i agree that "sudden violin

freakout" was not so necessary, but okay it must have

been for the sake of the 'live' event.) : )

  • I really don't like the violin solo where he goes unnecessatily high and improv-ish. Everything else is just fantastic though.

  • the first song is also covered by eluveitie!!!!!awesome job guys

  • nice.

  • I can see now why metal has incorporated folk music into folk metal. There's enough musical complexity to make it metal worthy. Can't really say the same about country, hip hop, pop, or rap. and btw, rap metal IS NOT METAL.

  • Metal worthy, lol...Folk music has been around for centuries, real question is if Metal is folk worthy. :)

  • well korpiklaani seemed to think so. They started out as a folk band. However, they saw positives in both folk music: the lively foot tapping ryhthym and melody, and metal: power, energy and heaviness. So instead of choosing one, they combined both and are now one of the most well known folk metal bands around. basically what I'm saying is (fiddle + accordian + bagpipes + etc.) + (modern drums + distortion electric guitars + electric bass) = epic.

  • @4ureyesonlee I'd say so :)

  • @4ureyesonlee Metal IS folk worthy:] but you're right

  • Elnor's magic valley by Rhapsody... anyone?

  • it's called cooley's reel, elnor's magic valley is a version of the real tune

    sorry for my bad english

  • the first tune is cooley's reel, I made a video playing this tune in my tin whistle =]

    see in my profile

  • So vibrant, and more, so alive. I am not Irish. I am Ukrainian. But, my wife is Irish. Talk about tempers. Yoy, you should hear our arguments. But, I would not trade her for the world. We're in our 50's. We have been married for 35 years. And she still brings my first cup of cofee when I am still in bed. Do I have a prize, or what?? =Stefan=

  • hahahahaha, how odd to comment that under this sort of music. "my wife is Irish. Talk about tempers." haha, great! Good luck in the future.

  • That's us irish women for ya (:

  • And the Earth's treasure they are, my dear, )As I am sure are you). Have a great life! =Stefan=

  • I love Folk music <3

  • dude, Tradgal calm down. its music. it was really good music. it was played beautifully and had a warm tone to it. but cuz the user that posted this video didnt know it was not irish music, you think its bad? your just a jackass

  • Ugh... I'm saying it's bad to call it Irish Folk Music because IT's NOT. They should call it something else, like "jam session" or something, so it doesn't give people the wrong idea. If you want to see some real Irish music, watch some Comhaltas videos, or Liz Carroll, the Brock McGuire band, Tommy Peoples, Danu... I could go on and on. That's the real stuff. These people sound like a garage band and if you like that, fine. That doesn't mean you need to call me names for having an opinion.

  • Your joking, right? i grew up with Irish FOLK music, and thats what it is, and do i need to remind you that this came first, before liz carrol and before the american influence on folk.

  • I listed other people, too. Watch them. They aren't American.

  • i never said they were, i quote ' before the americain infulance' songs like cotten eyed joe, are jumbled up irish, english and what everelse folk songs into one big american pile of crap, well its ok if its sung properly

  • I don't think those are Irish, either! :)

OK, I've had enough of this video. You people can think whatever you want to... I just don't agree and that's fine.

  • hi all i know well that i am very far of the real irish music and i sorry for all the irish peaple :):) but i am a classical violinist i i was just trying another kind of music .. i know that i have to feel ie mush better.. :) i think next time it will be in style :):) thanks for your nice comments

  • It was so beautiful! Great job!!

  • i don't care what it's called, i just like it. :D

  • amasing ^^

  • Irish don't wear kilts moron

  • Oh yes they do, well in the past they did, only plain green ones.

In fact they still do, only when they doing dancing

  • yeah your right ;] but, the point was, that guy needed to shut up

  • Awesome =D

  • клёво

  • правдо =)

  • adamjlcooper that was one of the funniest ive read this week, the end was perfect i damn near pissed myself. i even stopped and paused at the periods in my head and (cant spell) enuciated. well it was funny in my head anyway, should've been there...i'd sound less crazy i swear

  • 'm an ex British solider who served many years in northern Ireland when it was in trouble and i got smashed in the face by Irish folk music and it will never leave me.

  • wow... this is good jamming and you haters suck seriously, my fingers don't line up with my bow when i fiddle and it sounds fine .. you gotta learn to love the music cuz at least their playing with heart!

    douche

  • YES! Exactly... it's "jamming." It's NOT "Irish Folk Music." These are both dance tunes. If they played this set for dancers, they would kill the fiddle player. You have to keep time in this music, meaning YES, you're fingers do have to line up with the bow. Keeping time is most important.

  • well im a guitar player (not celtic or anything) and i did notice a couple mistakes in the guitar but i still thought this was fuckin jammin and i know for certain i couldnt play it half as well

  • What is these songs called? :)

  • Cooley's Reel and Calliope House (jig)

  • i thought cooneys reel was english...???

  • This is awful! The fiddler's fingers don't line up with the bow half the time, same with the guitar player... mistakes, mistakes, mistakes. They aren't even hard tunes. And you didn't even finish "Calliope House!" You only played the first half of the tune. It's really insulting to call this "Irish Folk Music."

  • How about stop insulting it unless you play it better, and if you can then you can insult all you want, but till then shut up. And everyone has diffrent tastes so dont make people who enjoyed seem like they shouldnt.

  • Ummm- I play AND teach Celtic fiddle of a living, so don't tell me to shut up! Not saying you shouldn't enjoy this, but I am saying that you're pretty ignorant if you think this is "Irish Folk Music." It's an insult. This fiddle player needs lessons in the style. My guess is he's a classically trained violinist who is TRYING to play Celtic. News Flash: You can't just read these tunes off the paper and play them properly. If he played for Irish dancers, I'm willing to be they'd be pissed.

  • Touche'e You win.

  • I don't see why you took the time to slag these people off? Do you see any tags saying "we are amazing musicians". Just because they make mistakes doesn't change or insult the genre.

You could be forgiven if you were an obnoxious 12 year old, but by following your first comment up by saying you're a teacher makes me worry about what kind of learning environment you give your students if you're immature and negative enough to bitch about players on a site for sharing music.

    No Need. Feel Shame.

  • I'm saying this video should not be called Irish Folk Music, because it's not. If they called it Jam Session, that would be more appropriate. It frustrates me when people think this is good Irish Music. It's not. In fact, the 2nd tune is actually Scottish. Watch Alasdair Fraser play it... that's how it should be played. Polished, connected, and not at warp speed.

BTW, have had some of the same students for 5 or 6 years now! Don't slam me until you've actually come to my classes.

  • If you're behind a computer you can be whoever you like.

    I'm Abraham lincoln.

  • I'm Superman

  • It's good...That's all that counts

  • man this is flat out beatiful music....anyone can like this

  • me too. i like this, dont bother about the minimal mistakes.

  • amazing. What have you called them and where can I get them?

  • thenk was frickin awsome

    coooollll

  • WOW! i think i found a new passion!
