The Crown Vic is already badass on its own, but throwing a manual transmission in there is incredible! Now if only we could have the options for Automatic, Manual, and 3-on-the-Tree. :-D
@crazyfooInc I love the idea of a 3 on the tree. Check out my video on my 1984 Ford F150. I think I have the very last year of the three on the tree. Technically it was available untill 1986 on F150 and 1987 on Chevrolet trucks. I have never seen one later than 1984. If anybody knows different let me know.
am the one that drove a rowenn vic taxi that burned naturial gas one thing I wonder is why would ford only sell them to fleets or export for the past few years even if there ws never a grate demand for them and is a matter its ahrd to believee like the Modle T it was prodused for 19 years and simply Fordd Motors want to go any longer I did nto read this in the Medea but most know there is stillthe Lincol twon car if you can aford it
My kinda guy - and car - good goin! - back in 1970 i put a 3 speed behind a 3 speed when i was 16 in my old 65 gmc pickup - mounted a foxcraft shifter to the front trans ran the linkage back to the 2nd trans - had 3 on the tree and 3 in the floor - had a blast with that old truck -- aaaa those were the days! - why you ask - because i could!
I drove 2 types of crown vics one was an expolice car the apeedometer went to 140 MPH ot KN then for a few years a ,94 taxi tht ran on natural gas only I enjoyed it a very nice car with the police package but it waas inconvenent geting the gas and it was prone to solling and allso iveing pasenges a ggas odor to bad the stoped making them and I didnot like the way only fleets could buy them exce[pt export oh it was made like the mole tfor 19 yeas I don,t think Ford was to proud of them""
@dbearsfootball lol i love the bears as well but I'm going to have to disagree, the xfr has i think around 500ish hp so yeah if thats not a lot i don't know what is lol .
hey i was wondering if a crown vic can run with out the cats, the ones right under the car but not the ones that go up into the engine compartment, please let me know.
k, i like jdm too,but i am very impressed by this car! I would love to convert a police interceptor into a manual if i had the garage space, time, and money!
@RoaringMuffin VTEC equal no power what so ever below 6k rpms and then a little bit till maybe 8k rpms wow that must be really nice to have a powerband that last 2k rpms
@p71c1 are you insane, learn how a vtec works my friend, at low rps it holds it valves open shorter providing low end torque, then at around 4.5k rpm vtec engages and holds the valves open for a longer period of time providing explosive power... AND SOUND!.... regardless, vtec takes this in its sleep
@RoaringMuffin dude not only I was sarcastic abouth it but I also dont give a shit abouth japannese cars and their vtech hence why I own an american car
@RoaringMuffin why dont you go see my vid where i kick that ricer ass with his vtec powered honda civic against my bone stock 2 ton car and see who win.looks like the stove pipe and all that sound didnt fuck all in his case...oh well i guess you have to looses sometimes
@RoaringMuffin yeah and then why dont i race a turbo h22 just so i loose then you will be happy and will stfu.
race are unfair because there is always a looser and in this one the honda lost is it that hard to get?
looks at all my videos ..I dont post to brag abouth races as I would not post the ones where i get my ass kicked.
it's always the same story when i kick someones else ass i get the usual answer like race a faster car and see who race....... your answer is so lame dude
@p71c1 Dude, the reason I said u should race an b24 is because, you are comparing a 4.6L car to a 1.6L car and still have the nerve to say, I kicked his ass, btw for the record, I dont like riced out cars, I like it looking clean and still have the power to own any car on the road, most riced out cars just have a big ass exhaust stuck on to it
@RoaringMuffin engines are matched with the sized of the car. My crown vic weight over 2 tons with 250 hp and 297lb/tq the weight to power ratio is far from being good. His car might only have a 1.6 engine but i really doubt his car is as heavy as mine. now as for the b24 it will be unfair as I have a 5,4 now that runs 14.3 on a bad day still spinning off the line my 2 tons car.On a 1/8 race when you can walk away from another car in such short distance it's because you are kicking ass
id like to know what transmision you used and aprokamently how much money am i looking at for this swap. i read somewhere that i could use the t-45 mustang transmision
@p71c1 Nice work. I have a 96 Mark VIII so not as easy to make the swap as yours! Did you use a hydraulic line or an older cable setup for the clutch? Earlier Mustangs (79 to I think 85) had the simpler cable setup. How'd you compensate for the difference in idle speed?
With no mods (Just what came with the CV including tires) The Crown Vic can easily take the sharp curves of an on or off ramp at 60 MPH without so much as a squeal. Ive owned n driven modded n unmodded CVs from 98 to 07. You would be very surprised what they can do. Not to take anything away from actual performance orientated cars, that is. With just better rear control arms and anti sway bar they are an incredible ride for being a mass produced fleet vehicle.
Mate that's just how we like it in Australia. Big car, comfort, 250-350 hp, manual and rear wheel drive. It's not a "sports car" but a big and very capable sporting sedan. Plus if you gotta drive 500-2000miles or drive all day you don't do it in small vehicle.
@gnockergnutz wow... either u haven't driven anything else in your life or you have no sense when it comes to cars, crown vics where never bent to be track cars never ment to be sporty, i have driven a s2000, 350z 300z my own 2010 GTI, my fathers 2009 XFR My Mothers MDX 08, our old families old bmw 5 my best mates s4, THESE are cars that handle and have steering that give feed back through corners, the Crown Vic doesn't, its a great car but its not a SPORTs CAR and doesn't handle.
This isn't criticism or anything but why did u choose the Crown Vic? i mean its not exactly a handling car(theres a huge lack of feel in the steering) or was it just a money thing
@gnockergnutz - no, its not a handling car.. unless handling like a cruise ship on a block of ice is the peak of carving corners for you. Go drive yourself almost any sporty european car and throw it into some corners.
@p71c1 yeah but how much did it run you and where did you find stronger internals. if i take my trans class il take a TR3650 and beefen it up and rebuild it. but why did you mention the TR2650?
@p71c1 ok thats what i thought ,,i swapped my single stock exhaust to duel exhaust h-pipe with turndowns b4 the axle and i loved it but i dont know what i lost doing the turndowns because i never ran the full exhaust,,
@p71c1 lol, i thought so, i found marauder gauges online but sadly only the stickers for it not the hole thing. and thanks for the paint idea, i was thinking of changing the dashboard completely.
i was just wondering, i plan on converting my 1998 crown victoria p71 to a 5 speed manual transmission, but i was wondering, how long did it take for you to convert your CV into a manual?
Let me tell you something....I'm a goddamn GM guy to the bone.....but Vics are one of few exceptions of mine outside GM and this thing appeals to me to the boner, lol.
Sounds like a DAMN Big Block!! If the police had this option in their car, chases would be down to a minimum due to the perpetrator stopping and asking "What the F--K is that and why do I feel the need to get in this car!!"
That is 31 flavors of pure awesome. I've been missing a stick attached to some torque turning rear wheels and I think you got me pumped enough to build one. Looks like there is enough space in the bay to add a couple of extra cylinders...
That is nice! What all does it take to do the swap? did you have to change the computer? what is the trans out of? Any info you could give me would really help. Thanks.

Sounds incredible! So the stock 4 sped AOD drops about 3k rpm per shift, what do you get with this one?
OsakaBancho 1 year ago
@OsakaBancho where did you see an 4 speed aod......the car is manual 5 speed
p71c1 1 year ago
@p71c1
Stock.
Do Crown Vic's come with 5 speeds? No, they come with 4 speeds.
Automatic.
Overdrive.
4 speed AOD.
So STOCK 4 SPEED AOD'S drop 3k rpm per shift.
What does your 5 SPEED MANUAL drop?

That is 31 flavors of pure awesome. I've been missing a stick attached to some torque turning rear wheels and I think you got me pumped enough to build one. Looks like there is enough space in the bay to add a couple of extra cylinders...
