A lot of serious historians were interviewed and serious number of documents presented. I am Ukrainian and I support Latvians in their Anti-Soviet/Russian Imperialist struggle.

I don't understand why Russia (not all but most of the population) still don't want to admit what really hapened in the Soviet Union. They don't want to admit that many people were killed, raped and tortured. And why do they get so angry when someone proves that they are wrong? Latvians were happy without SU and no one asked for our permission, SU just came and conquered. He could declare war against USSR but in that case many people would die, because USSR was bigger and stronger. The second option was to sign the permission for USSR army to come in Latvia peacefully, so that no one would get hurt. It is becoming apparent that you don't know what you are talking about. Lithuania jouned SU legally based on petition by Lithuanian parliament in 1940. Chechnya has always been a part of SU and later Russia, Russian military was fighting terrorists not people of Chechnya.

It's not about nation. It's about politics. My grand parent was exiled to Syberia when he was 10. He spend there 9 years. Now he's returned to Lithuania. But he don't blames russian nation. Because there were many russians who suffered soviet exiles too. He says that they were more honest and helpful than lithuanians. Russia's politics is different thing. I don't understand why Russia (not all but most of the population) still don't want to admit what really hapened in the Soviet Union. They don't want to admit that many people were killed, raped and tortured. And why do they get so angry when someone proves that they are wrong? I mean I'm Latvian and I should be the one who gets angry about what they did to my relatives and my country.

Because it is all lies. It is all done so you (Latvians,Estonians ...) approve US military bases on your soil. Soviet Union did a lot of good stuff for Baltic states, why no one makes films about that? Why don't Latvians make films about how SU has been teaching them their own language for 60 f... years? The number of victims of SU is a subject to speculation and is varied from 1 to 60 mil. BTW no one till this day has PROVED us wrong, it's all speculations and one sided fake documentaries.

Latvians were happy without SU and no one asked for our permission, SU just came and conquered. And a lot of innocent people were killed just because they told their opinion about SU, and that is a fact. My grandparents were there and saw what really happened. This is a typical mistake that people who live Baltics make. You see Baltic countries actually legally joined SU, their parliaments issued a petitions to USSR government stating the will to join SU in June 1940, but no one knows that, it's a very unpopular fact. This is the kind of prove that I see all over youtube: "everyone knows" but no one ever actually provided a valid point to support that. Can you tell me what bad did SU for Latvians? I mean really bad, like Hitler did for Jews?

@cyberrate Latvia joined the USSR peacefully just because president Ulmanis had two options. He could declare war against USSR but in that case many people would die, because USSR was bigger and stronger. The second option was to sign the permission for USSR army to come in Latvia peacefully, so that no one would get hurt. If you want to know what bad did SU for Latvians, just search it on google, sorry, but my English is not very good, so I don't know how to tell you all the things I know.

I never said that USSR did ONLY good things. You are trying to say that SU did at least 3 things to you: occupy, kill and put you 50 years behind all Europe. OK let's stick to that and watch you prove that. Can you provide a single document or any kind of court order that will suggest that any of Baltic states were occupied? How many of "you" did SU kill? Can you name any specific number? Or direct me to the graves or anything of that sort?

What exactly are you on about? Something I can find on the internet? You see the Siberia is not really that harsh a punishment. MOST of people sent to Siberia actually survived and returned home, for example 18 500 out of 22 500 Estonians sent to Siberia returned home in 1959. But you didn't know that did you? So you are just following the modern Baltic idea of blaming SU for everything. You see, I'm not the one who needs to wake up.

I really didn't know about that. Ok so 13 people got killed defending the TV tower. It's a tragedy, but they died in action, didn't they? They were not captured and executed, were they? Is this why you ignore the fact that TV tower was built by SU in first place? Just for comparison: do you know how many civilians are getting killed in Afghanistan and Iraq where Lithuanian army is helping USA to occupy those countries? It estimates to total of 150 000. And It happens every day.

It is becoming apparent that you don't know what you are talking about. Lithuania jouned SU legally based on petition by Lithuanian parliament in 1940. Chechnya has always been a part of SU and later Russia, Russian military was fighting terrorists not people of Chechnya.

Those who returned from Siberia were still "enemies of the state" which meant they could not be trusted which eventually resulted in that they could not get jobs or a place to live. A lot of them became homeless or went to live outside the USSR. And I am assuming that this might have slipped past your comprehensive knowledge about Soviet Union which is not a big deal because you seem rather ignorant and self-concentrated bastard, relying on no relevant knowledge at all.

People returned from Siberia were completely rehabilitated by Khrushchev in 1959. And it is safe to say that there were no homeless people in SU, mate. It's not about nation. It's about politics. My grand parent was exiled to Syberia when he was 10. He spend there 9 years. Now he's returned to Lithuania. But he don't blames russian nation. Because there were many russians who suffered soviet exiles too. He says that they were more honest and helpful than lithuanians. Russia's politics is different thing. It doesn't respect human life at all. I just cannot understand, why russian people, who suffered the most by soviets, let rewrite the history.

I'm Estonian and support this movie wholeheartedly.
However, I don't feel it's fair to keep referring to Russians as fascists. The Russian people were just as bad off during Soviet times, and we need to remember that not all Russians are war mongers and red fascists.
Yes, the world should be made aware of the war crimes committed. But the Russians as a whole aren't to blame. Millions of their own people were killed too.

these and about as many people participated in the film, attacking soviet union and communism. half of them - russians. and this news report tells us of only 2 latvian guests and sponsors, tells us that it's all lies, but does not prove these words. my opinion: this report is simply incompetent and silly, even for a state owned channel.

for people who dont understand russian (like me, my parents translated for me) this news report is quite silly, they didnt say much about the movie itself, only that its not true and people should not believe what is mentioned in it (though we know everything there is true). The rest of this report is only about the coruption level in latvia, about their parlament, inflation..... It's obvious that the news guys had nothing good to say, becouse YOU CAN'T DENIE THE TRUTH!!! respect to latvia!
