  • I have to agree with the comment below. The use of lighting and shadows is brilliant. Beautiful piece of work, Caren!

  • Had another look at this little gem, it still haunts me this film. Your use of shadows was really remarkable. Great work

  • chilling

    :)

  • Deceptively simple idea beautifully executed. You have a remarkable gift for suspense and tension, very effective. Great to see real quality here on yt.

  • I actually jumped. You have a REAL knack. Great talent!! Honestly, just this silent footage to music and your style could last for a couple hours and make a great film. Bravo. Kudos for sure!

  • I always was freaked by those registers. Maybe you could get them powder coated so they are not so scary?

  • wow Caren, you really know how to scare me...;)

excellent timing and edition...your daughter, just great.!

  • that was beautiful.

  • I'm speechless by the quality of your work, you have what it takes to direct big screen movies. bravo!!

  • I was expecting that chair because of the "video icon", but... you got me with that sound|image. hhh. chills. great sequence; in the end, it made me think about how I laughed like a kid and was intrigued when I saw "Make Believe". wish you a great week. abraços. :)

  • THIS is REALLY COOL 5****** perfecT AurA LovE from AMSTERDAM cuLture

  • Brilliant! 5*

  • how did you get the helicopter light on the buildings?

  • I can't top the comment left by Kie77 : )

  • Superb camera work again!!! Great lighting too. Love the dog and couldn't see the string so however you did it it worked.

  • Into the favs....it just gets better each time I view it....so many layers....Just brilliant...in my humble opinion...I am inspired.... by your creative spirit ...it is absolutely beautiful what you do with shadows & light...like no other...all of your work/play that I have been exposed to has a magical sense of Déjà Vu that I know rings true in everyone who views it...or maybe I'm just a little crazy....either way...please keep sharing this wonderful part of you with us....Thank You...

  • Absolutey love the shadows...the way the dogs tail contiued to wag on the wall after it stopped...it was magical...the darkness...all of it...beautiful...

  • Stunning, as always.

    Little girls MAKE horror films.

  • Yes, yes, yes! Excellent use of light, shadow, music and anticipation. Good job Caren.

  • this is one of my favorite ECO vids, happy halloween!!!

  • Wow, that is some real hair-standing-on-end stuff ECO! Hats off to you!

  • This is brilliant. You have a real eye for film making. You've taken such a simple concept and filmed it beautifully. I think this is definitely one of the best videos in the competition. Five stars for sure. Good luck to you :)

  • So subtle and eerie.

The images, the play with lighting, you managed to make a simple toy bring out the goosebumps.

Your little girl was wonderful in it. Bravo!

And I wish you luck in the contest, this is a winner for sure!

  • ahhhh,,,, nice story telling, love the black and white,, this one gives me the delightfull creeps,,, there has got to be more,,,,,please,,,,,

  • Very classy! I haven't had time to plan for Halloween, let alone make a vid- good job! :)

  • Awesome! Rarely are YouTube vids so finely crafted...

  • nice story throughout the video

  • Hallways and open doors, when filmed right, can be the scariest of things: It's all that damned possibility. Great vid.

  • wow...in 2 minutes you managed to do what some full features fail to accomplish...

would give you more than 5 stars - but the YT monkies would only take them...

  • you're the best, NiteBlogger.

  • You've done a wonderful job telling such a story through movement and contrasting lights, always managing to create a great atmosphere that gives me a chill on the spine!now you got me thinking endlessly the possible translations of this story...and damn they're many!hope to see more from you soon:)take care;)

  • good job

  • This video has exactly what lacks in horror films today... Atmosphere! Everything is blood, guts, and gore and nothing else. I love gore, but that's not what makes a horror film work. Good job!

  • creepy toys moving by themselves always spook me. how did you manage the outdoor lights?

  • That was great, man..

  • hopefully we'll be able to pull it together for next year's halloween. my bad. I've had a lot on my plate this year. From your message, seems like you do as well.

  • you rock happy halloween

  • I let the HD load, in 24" widescreen.

Put my headphones on, cranked the volume.

Turned off the lights. Planted my butt about 2 ft. from the monitor and I watched.

If you don't mind...I'd like to feature this on my channel, until Halloween. I don't think YT gets any better than this.

    My skin is still crawling.

  • I love the atmosphere you've created with the dark and light - the cutesy toy turned potential monster by the little girl's call.

  • I know what I think/feel, but the exact words escape me- something about how even the most mundane or familiar or innocent thing, moved slightly to the left of its "normal" context, becomes an object of fear. And then there is darkness & shadow. Funny how a bright area feels like a trap when the shadows beyond are too dense to see into- what's there?

  • i dont get it

  • Let me know if you win!! The music grabs me in this.. I feel all intense and am on the edge of my seat! You know how to stir the emotion Caren! What a great original idea! Was the girl in the shadow your daughter??

  • A very trick video that is a real treat! Awesome use of light and shadow.

  • Well done! That was very spooky. There is something very sinister about animated toys, I guess it is because we trust them so much as objects of fun when we are children...out of that context they take on a whole new darker role. Lovely camera work, music and editing, thanks for entering and good luck in the comp :)

  • this is awesome. i hope you win! i left a comment yesterday that apparently didn't stick- i recalled scary dreams in my childhood in which my dollies or toys took on a sinister aspect and moved on their own. reaaaaaaly frightening!

  • well done :)

  • God that was creepy!

  • wow! THAT WAS SPOOOOOOKY! :O

  • Atmospheric, disturbing and creepy. Shows what can be done with a limited budget and an unlimited imagination. 5 Stars! Favourite!

  • Nice job!! Good luck!

  • Nice job and good luck

  • Scary is how fast they grow up!

  • very nice textures. it reminded me of some videos i put up that i thought was pretty good, but deleted the next day. a throw away. sorry, but that is the way i see it. not very creepy. not very amazing. a moving toy and an empty rocking chair. i guess i dont get it.

  • Wow, this was cool. Kind of like that Ring movie.

  • Nice work! Really creepy! Good luck in the contest!

  • Chilling!

    *hugs*

  • Whoa! Tripped out! Thats the best production quality I've seen in a while. I think you'll achieve the status of YouTube Partner in the future.

  • It's hard to believe that Lil' Rich's contest was 2 years ago now.. Now that IS spooky!!
