  • lol

  • Thought you were gonna scream in the camera with that face you were making at the start.

  • Sorry but this chase guy is an amateur and really a pseudo-intellectual... although he's right in this case. Red Letter Media did a good job.

  • @melbyRick chase died in march btw

  • @elcap22 Okay... so am I supposed to feel bad for telling the truth about a dead man? I suppose it's sad for his family, but honestly for the rest of us it's no big deal. The internet is flooded with fools trying to convince us that their opinions are unique and valid, or that we should waste time listening to them. At least Red Letter Media is entertaining; this guy was just a pontificating ass. I'm not going to miss him, and I don't think too many other people will either.

  • Nicely put, Chase!

  • Lmao, I love it too. I've watched it like nine times.

  • Funny, my name is Chase. ^^

  • wow, you BADLY want to suck redlettermedia cock!

  • @Haydutin so do i, redlettermedia is the greatest movie reviewer ever

  • (regarding this asshole's reaction) "I'm glad you're dead!"

  • Hell... yes

  • dude i completely agree with you, oh and cant believe how much i laughed at everything in the review, it was all true stuff... but how "Plinkett" delivered all the info and points.. was just hilarious.. you can't help but laugh! - i will admit though... i liked the visuals and end fight scene of phantom menace... - what can i say? - but yeah the review is just epic!

  • OH goodness sir you are a wonderful ham thank you for this it really made my day better

  • for once i like what you have to say... lol... yeah we dont agree on 2001 a psace oddity... but hey,... not even you like the phantom menace... lol.... well atleast you have some intelligence after all... yeah yeah i like HAL... i do... but the rest of 2001 sux balls... please stop defending that movie...

  • I've seen all his reviews more than once. I now have his voice as my inner voice. Whenever I mess up, I say... "Oooooh" in Plinkett voice

  • i felt exactly this way after watching the reviews.

  • "while making serial killer jokes!" I busted out laughing! I must admit, I am a Lucas boy, I love STAR WARS, I always will... But, I hate to admit it, mr.plinket of redlettermedia, was... right... I will still watch STAR WARS in a cult like manner. But... I couldn't stop watching his reviews! I even went to his website and watched all of his episode 3 reviews, and even though I'm also a hardcore Star Trek fan, I watched ALL of his Star Trek reviews as well. The guy is a very talented reviewer!

  • "Leave Brittney ALONE!"

  • People are still watching this ape's video! Real Star Wars fans who get it still hold the torch high. Sorry ur stuck in the 70's still and never Progressed at all!

  • I feel the same way. His reviews are pretty damn awesome.

  • in fact stop talking on youtube for that matter

  • cut out the jokes your not funny

  • I honestly find it hard to find where your bitchy sarcasm ends and your genuine feelings begin. Just sayin, you're kind of intense

  • Jesus Christ, man. I liked it just as much as the next guy, but you didn't need to jack off all over it.

  • after the first 40 seconds i thought he was actually for real

  • check out my review of the Star Wars Original Trilogy. I rip those films a new one.

  • "That voice that you do is now the voice of my thoughts". Strange...but true.

  • This Chase guy is a twat.

With that said: RedLetterMedia does kick ass.

  • I like every single Star Wars movie except episode 3. Can't wait to see him trash that crapfest of a "film".

  • Confused Mattthew disliked this video 37 times

  • It's a good movie review but this video is pointless

  • ahahhahah I agree with you....it was the best movie review I have ever seen too!

  • This is so ironic. I really like this video but this the same guy that spent 90 minutes bashing confusedmatthew.

    I'm so conflicted.

  • why the total dorkiness?

  • Hmm I actually agree with this clip... Red Letter Media rocks the socks!!

  • Oops, I accidentally clicked the "like" video. Not that I don't like the video, but I never, ever click the "like/dislike" button, and stupid youtube doesn't allow you to take it back. That kind of bugs me. Otherwise, I agree. RLM is probably the greatest movie reviewer around, because he speaks the truth, analyzes to death, has a great load of humor, and has a unique style that nobody else can emulate. I always thought he sounded like Frito from Idiocracy, but that's just me.

  • couldn't agree with you more.

  • Love this. Absolutely love this. You captured on video what I felt inside watching RLM's masterpiece.

  • his review was fluid with everthing

  • It's the funniest thing on YouTube. It's better than anything on network TV. I only found it the other day and watch parts daily, just because it doesn't get old. Pro-tah-gan-iss. The serial killer shit is perfect too. These guys should be writing for a living.

  • I agree that your review on star wars was very entertaining not to mention enlightening, but unlike this guy I do not a have a raging crush on you.

  • "It's better then TV".

I agree 100%. I sent the review to one my friends and he were astounded at the length of it. The only response I had was "it's better then anything on TV".

I agree with your review of the review 100% :D

  • 'never seen anyone wildly masturbate over a video review before. Christ look at this guy go.

  • Make sure you check out Red Letter Media's Star Trek The Next Generation film reviews. Have to agree 100% with your response to the R.L.M. Star Wars prequel reviews. Here's looking forward to EIII review and seeing if Plinkett finally gets his comeuppance.

  • The way you talk, your earnestness, your tone, everything, reminds me so much of myself when I speak about something passionately...you aren't by chance a scorpio, are you? (not that I believe in astrology, it's just uncanny.) I'm glad a fan made a tribute to RLM, I'm sure he appreciated it :)

    --Leyla

  • Ha! I am fan of your fan-ness. Please, please post more reviews of RLM's reviews!

  • actually confused matthew did speak truth to george lucas in his review, although it was much shorter than redlettermedia's but matthew's review came out over a eyar before rlm's did

  • This is excatly the way I felt.

  • i think this guy come in his pants

  • typical hollywood douche. beard and glasses

  • I was told to watch it by Epicbattlecry.

  • lol hillarious dude! You said it for all of us! ;';cries;';

  • @mrmitch Agreed!!!

  • A bit awkward, and came off as more "pity me because I can't just make scathing reviews myself" than "joyous praise!", maybe open with a title, the latter half was a great analysis, but the introduction was awkward, is all I'm saying.

  • I agree with you. The Third Star Wars is by far the worst one!!!

  • WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR FAAAAAAAACE

  • Fanboy !

    ;-) I totally agree... ^_^

  • Haha yea, his reviews are gold. I definitely agree that his reviews are thoroughly analytical and that's what I like most about them. So many people try to write their own reviews, but fail miserably. They can't analyze a movie like RedLetterMedia can let alone match his witty sense of humor. I can't wait for his third star wars review.

  • Whats wrong with your faaaaaaaaace?!

  • lol im glad you arent an insane fanboy like i expected you would :D

  • My thoughts (almost) exactly! Not bad yourself!

  • Well, right on. Glad I came across your response here. Couldn't put it better myself or agree more. Cheers.

  • Awesome.

  • I really wanna know what did you think of the RLM:s new review

  • Being a fan of Star Wars since the originals, RedLetter dude totally made a bunch of excellent points on Episode 1 and 2 and also had a good laugh about it, too. Scratch the good part- I meant Great Laugh!

Now off to see to his other reviews until Episode 3 review comes.

  • I thought he was going to be sarcastic and rip on the review when it first started

  • Funniest first 5 seconds of any youtube video I've ever seen.

  • His attack of the clones review is actually better than the Phantom Menance one. He really took it to the next level this time. Was amazing.

  • @Ayatron34 Ayatron34 is a faggoty very ugly African BLACK ! ! This crap loves the Batman who is a manly handsome white man. This asshole is an unpleasant homosexsual abnormal BLACK GAY ! !

  • Aahaha. I adore this.

  • His Attack of the Clones review will be out tommorow!

  • umm... although I consider all three to be sub-par movies, Episode III is easily the 'saving grace' of the prequels. I mean its the only one that ties the stories anywhere near well. And if you rather watch Jar Jar and Pod Races over Vader's creation and Jedis downfall than you really have some issues.

  • Saying it's better than TV isn't saying much. :P

  • LOL that voice is now the voice of my thoughts. That's pretty messed up/awesome.

  • i agree, it was hillarious.

my friend and i do the "pizza rolls" thing XD

  • testify brotha! Tell it! Testify...... tooooo.........

    the guy who's.... testifying.

    (hmm.... I just confused myself.)

    That's OK. Not hard.

btw people, if you'd take the trouble to actually READ what blogegog wrote down there, it's quite cute Stop voting it down.

(He's doing this thing called SARCASM.)

  • @composerdoh Yes, i thought that my comment reply cleared that up.. nice to see blogegog finally getting some upvotes!

  • I don't know why you guys are trashing Star wars ep1. The movie was awesome. The only things that could have made it any better would be a five minute scene where the Emporer was doing his tax returns, or maybe a ten minute segment of quaigon gin getting a root canal.

  • @blogegog And the prize for 'best comment ever' goes to... @blogegog! Congratulations. I can actually taste the sarcasm coming off that one. Ha! Well done. Your comment also reminds me of the Robot Chicken star wars episode (seen it?) where the Emperor orders take-out in his office when Vader calls him stranded after the Death Star is destroyed - genius

  • no- did you see the Simpsons parody of Ep 1? Where the AT-AT smashes thru the Senate chamber walls, then says "I'd like to propose a procedural ammendment..." but it gets interrupted or something, then puts on bifocals and reads the newspaper while it waits for its turn to take the floor?

  • @composerdoh yeah! i think they did a couple SWEP1 Senate gags.. it's so funny that Lucas thought the Star Wars equivalent of C-SPAN would be somehow enthralling to kids.

  • "a five minute scene where the Emporer was doing his tax returns, or maybe a ten minute segment of quaigon gin getting a root canal."

Lucas originally wanted to include that but then did away with it because it was too unrealistc! ;-)

  • @lilbrothaaa Nice..

  • I'd like to see the Emperor's colonoscopy.

I bet he has some interesting polyps.

That would make for a riveting scene.

  • (I said this the other day but looks like didn't stick- STOOpid youtube.... anyway- I'll try again)

I'd like to see the Emperor getting a colonoscopy. I bet he has some fascinating polyps.

Now THAT would make for a riveting scene.

  • @blogegog hahahahahaha, you said it, brother

  • @blogegog Sarcasm is funny xD

  • @blogegog

THANK YOU! Somebody understands that TPM is a FREAKEN GOOD MOVIE!

  • @blogegog I know I'm a bit late to the party but I just had to reply to this comment - It's brilliant! Reading the first two sentences I could feel how my blood started to boil and I was just about to insult you gravely in my reply, but then I read the rest xD

  • Bladerunner is the best scifi movie of all time.

  • @Xziz10ths It's up there for sure.

  • sure is

  • Yeah, Redlettermedia is awesome. I can't wait to see the Attack of the Clones Review.

  • @senseiman1 Word!

  • I was a massive hater of Star Wars. As a kid I just wanted the empire to win so much, yet they never did, and it frustrated me to hell. I grew up with vague memories of never liking Star Wars, but when episodes 1 2 and 3 came out it finally drove me batshit angry.

Then I went back to the originals again, and now I'm old enough to appreciate them, I really see 4, 5, and 6 as some of the best story telling imaginable. Why though, why why why did they have to re-master Return of the Jedi? (cont..)

  • Hayden Christiansen just made me f--king rage. Really. Being a former hater of Jedi, and watching it again, the ending where we see the ghost of Anakin brought a tear to my eye, yet now in new editions they have Hayden there waving like some twat. It was like going back to your one and only pair of testicles, to find a cancer lump there waving back at you.

A New Hope will always be my favourite, then Jedi, then Empire Strikes, but thank you RedLetterMedia for rationalising my hate for 1, 2 & 3

  • Yea, killed hundreds of people and then bam, repented in the last few minutes and there he is playing harp in heaven with the other good guys.

A reference to a highly questionable element of Christian theology (or whatever other religion has similar concepts) brought tears to your eyes? Wow.

The stories/scripts of old movies were full of problems as well - I'm not exactly a literate person but if you consider them to be "the best storytelling imaginable", you simply haven't paid any...

  • I don't think Episode III was the worst of the star wars films I found it to be the best of the prequels myself, imo attack of the clones was the worst, it was just stupid and to make it worse there are so many obvious ways each scene could be fixed and at least made mediocre, but I digress.

  • Video poster, you should check out RedLetter's Star Trek reviews. I actually really enjoyed his First Contact review a lot more than the Phantom Menace review.

  • @Kujakuseki01 Oh yeah the 1st contact one may very well be his best 4 sure!

  • I have this friend- every couple of days we write on each other's facebook walls: "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR FAAAAACE?!!!"

  • @composerdoh Hahaha! My friend Jason & i do that over the phone!

  • i agree with this video.

  • @DRUNKENRAMBLE Well of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion (obviously) and i'm not gonna attack you for thinking this about Ep3 but "1 of the greatest sci-fi movies of ALL TIME???" Really? I mean i sincerely doubt that even George Lucas would make such a claim and it's his film. You may need to re-think that position a bit. There is a whole lot of strong competition in that category & the fact that a valid argument can be made 2 justify tho opposite opinion should give u pause.

  • EL. OH. EL. How many sci-fi films have you seen?

  • I agree with Chase! RedLetterMedia is SO RIGHT!

  • RedLetterMedia's reviews ARE better than T.V. :) And so are your awesome rebuttal/reviews. :)

LOL at your tears at the beginning. Well done! I wasn't *that* happy, but yes, it's also the best analysis/review of The Phantom Menace that I've ever seen, hands down. I'll have to watch it again sometime. I even miss his wife-killer jokes sometimes, lol.

  • Episode II is the worst in my opinion.

  • You've expressed my thank you so much better than I could have ever hoped to... It brings tears to my eyes. Thank you thank you thank you!

  • You are welcome welcome welcome!

  • Why do the old fans hate the prequels so much? OK it's fucking shit that makes no sense at all and successfully killed all the feelings that we experienced watching the sinister original trilogy but hey! It still makes a great video game as long as can do with the lack of any kind of controls to steer the main character (whoever that might be)! ;-)

  • @lilbrothaaa I'm a big fan of irony & your very clever comment is now in the running for "best comment ever". Txs for watching.

  • Hehe, I think this price should go to that guy below who calls someone "not a true star wars fan" for hating the prequels. xD

  • @lilbrothaaa

Ahah. Hahahaha. Careful though, some people 'round these parts don't recognize sarcasm.

  • @Paragon19 Boy oh boy have i noticed.

  • I had the same reaction.

My only problem was the voice. It gave me a headache for the rest of the day, but it was worth it.

  • "That voice that you do, is now the voice of my thoughts". LOL, so true. Same for me, kind of.

  • I just finished watching his review and while I liked confusedmatthew's,I think his is better.

  • why is he being so gay

  • That man is a gift to anyone who knows movies

  • @cloontrooper i got news for you, if you think any of the prequels are any good YOU are not the true star wars fan. Star wars was the very first movie i ever saw in a movie theatre, and I have been a fan ever since. Now if ur confusing fan with fanboy, I understand where you're coming from. However, most of us are not fanboys, and the prequels completely shit on the perfection of the previous 3 films (I happen to have liked the ewoks, 'cause i was 10 at the time, and never shook the affection)

  • Will not those who saw TPM when they were 10 have an un-shaken affection for the Gungans?

  • I agree -- the review is stellar on many levels. It is the best movie review I have ever seen, and I've watched it multiple times. However the serial killer, kidnapper jokes didn't fit. I would have liked it just to be side-jokes about him living in his mother's basement. Even so, the movie review is still awsome.

  • I think the serial killer thing fits right in for two reasons. 1) one of the best jokes in the review was about killing a hooker in the crawlspace with raid, it takes place while he's discussing the gas/jedi scene. a viable set up for this joke would be that the narrator is a serial killer so he would know about these things, he seems knowledgale about everything else, so why not set up a self depricating/fiction lending "credibility" to his knowledge of suffocating hookers/jedis.

  • and 2) how funny of a joke is it that the narrator now has hundreds of thousands of people in complete agreement with a "serial killer"? I think very.

  • @pale91579 I totally agree.. the serial killer thing is icing on the cake sort to speak. I mean to have the "complexity of the awfulness" as he puts it so well explained in such detail by the character he is playing - a heavily medicated serial killing elderly man who thinks pizza rolls are talking to him while he gambles at a slot machine!!! On top of that i've always loved dark humor and he really nails it while making great point after great point.

  • how was the 3rd one the worst? it was basically the 2nd film with more action and slightly more emotion.

im not saying its a good film, but its not as bad as the 2nd, and certainly not as bad as the 1st.

  • @mxdirector Well that's why i said that "it could be argued..", i know i'm in the minority in this thinking but for me the pivotal characters seemed to act insane considering all the other movies. Think about it, Anakin goes from being the only Jedi upholding the law to child mass murderer in 5 minutes, Yoda flees a fight that ends in a draw rather then die trying and Obi-wan lectures his dying friend like a child & leaves him to burn to death rather than show him the true power of good.

  • @chasemelendez

I'm with ya there. Ep. 3 is a bizarre beast. It goes from being "not completely terrible" to absurd and insulting in the blink of an eye. I don't think I can comfortably say it's the worst. But it definitely stinks!

  • @theeponym Thank you. This is what i've always tried to get across to people in these debates about the prequels. The reason i hate the 3rd one the most isn't because it's the worst "story" of the the 3 (it isn't) but because it is at times so much better then the other 2 that its' failings become sickening betrayals of the entire canon. I know that Ep. 1 & 2 are technically worse films but Ep. 3 is just plain offensive regardless of how well it follows the "lost Paradise" archetype.

  • You spoke my mind.

  • @cloontrooper Um ok, if that is meant to be ironic it's hysterical.. kudos to you! If it's not meant to be ironic then it is just as hysterical but i think maybe you meant to leave your comment on RedLetterMedia's page and not mine. Oh also, if you are serious (and i'm really not sure) what you are doing is called the "No True Scotsman fallacy" - google it.

  • I agree with pretty much everything you said. however... Episode 3 was far stronger than the other two combined. Best in the whole series? not by a long shot. Best in the prequel trilogy? definatly. If I had to pick the worst one ever it would have to be episode 1, which is why i think he did that one first... he's doing an episode 2 review so I can't wait.

  • @AfterLifeStudios While Episode 3 is the closest to an actual movie of the prequels the reason that i personally feel it is the worst of the 3 is Anakin's turning to the darkside is so poorly handled; he goes from the only Jedi following the law to a mass child murderer in 5 minutes and Obi-wan's behavior at the very end was just plain offensive. He was my hero as a kid and to see him lecture his dying friend and then walk away while he's burning alive just made me sick.

  • Anakin CONTINUES to follow / uphold the law - the Jedi he murders were deemed enemies of the Republic by its elected leader Palpatine.

  • @Litshttam I assume you are replying to my comment that "Anakin goes from being the only Jedi upholding the law to child mass murderer in 5 minutes". I was trying to save space while making a point but to clarify I was referring to B4 Palpatine is exposed as Sith when the Jedi council ask him to spy on Palpatine and then Anakin's insistence that Palpatine stand trial while Mace wants to execute him right there. Anakin is disturbed morally by the Jedi and yet he kills children the same day.

  • Well, it isn't entirely out-of-character for Anakin to do that - remember the Tusken Raider children he confesses to having killed in AOTC?

  • @Litshttam Ah yes, the "Tusken Raider" defense. This brings up a whole slew of other problems which is what drives people like me and RedLetterMedia crazy. The Tusken Children basically don't count! Why don't they count? Because Anakin tells Padmé that he killed Tuskin kids and it's perfectly fine with her and she doesn't report him, in fact i do believe she marries the Tuskin child killer at the end of the film. Not only does that not help you but it implies that Padmé is DEEPLY racist.

  • Padmé's world views are not the topic at hand.

The fact remains that Anakin slaying Younglings in ROTS is not out-of-left-field. He committed infanticide before in AOTC.

  • @Litshttam & yet he doesn't turn 2 the darkside until he kills jedi kids does he? It's clear that you (like Lucas) bought this as reasonable; fine. But it seems 2 me odd that she (former queen of a WORLD) wouldn't view him killing Tusken kids as infanticide (how could she? She marries him after) but wuld view killing Jedi kids (lawfully as u point out) as infanticide. That doesn't strike u as odd? & of course Padmé's world view is relevant 2 topic? Her inaction tells us how Tuskens R viewed.

  • Anakin's christened (pardon the pun) Darth Vader (Dark Father) BEFORE slaying the Younglings.

As for Padmé, hey, love is blind as they say...

  • @Litshttam Dang-it! i really wanna let this go but @ the same time it's fun. Ur implying that Anakin's christening (which is punny BTW; no need 2 apologize) is when he turns 2 the darkside but that begs the question: How is adding "Darth" 2 ur name EVIL-er than Tusken infanticide? On top of that if "love is blind" for 1 infanticide, why ain't it 4 another? Cuz Tuskens R dirty Sandpeople & Jedi Younglings r white (cept 4 that squidhead 1; he was blue). C'mon man, u know ive got a point here.

  • I wouldn't say Padmé is racist; she has a much-cherished Rodian "uncle" - Senator Onaconda Farr - in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. Lucas is very-much involved with the show, so must have approved this.

  • @Litshttam OMG seriously? Ok, i'm going 2 point out what ur doing wrong here and then i'm never responding again cuz ur creeping me out. What ur doing here is known as "composition fallacy" -Padmé has an uncle of a different race than her whom she cherishes, therefor she isn't racist- THAT'S ABSURD! & if u need the reason why it's absurd explained to u than u wont understand the explanation. Uve also managed to (sumhow?) bring infinite regression in2 a Star Wars discussion, which is now over

  • "I win! I always win." - General Zod (want to discuss Superman?!)

  • REDLETTERMEDIA!!!! YEEHAA

  • redlettermedia is great

  • You look like Gordon Freeman. Lol.

  • @TintedRedFilms Dude that is straight up the best comment i have ever gotten ever! I am being completely sincere right now. I just so happen to be working on a play thru video guide for Half-Life 2 Ep 2's final battle. Best game ever. I'm telling my friends you said that. Sweet!

  • @chasemelendez Hahahaha. Right when I clicked the video link, the first thing that entered my mind was "Half Life". Haha.

  • Right on there! RedLetterMedia's Phantom Menace review is d' best. Period.

  • That was really good. hope he makes episode II

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaah

  • nice,

  • Here here!

  • Thanks for putting my thoughts about the review in to your clip!

    Wait a minute...

GET OUT OF MY HEEEEAAAAAAAD!!! :D

  • I Completely agree and you are right, the voice is great, and does become the voice of your thoughts!!! Hilarious!

  • The best part of the review: it didn't just focus on Jar Jar or midichlorians - which were pretty awful elements in their own right. It totally destroyed TPM and it needed to happen.

  • Yeah i loved that too. You could spend an hour complaining about Jar Jar (and most people do) but he just sums it up as a "cartoon rabbit" and moves on to the real problems. Brilliant.

  • @chasemelendez

You shouldnt just ask him to do the rest of the bad star wars movies, you should ask him to review the good star wars movies, so he can say, explicitly, what makes a GOOD star wars movie.

  • That's a very good point. Fanboys blither about lightsabres and ship battles and how much action there is and yet cannot for the life of them explain the plot or what the point of it all might be. The character of Jar Jar is a symptom of a much deeper problem, not the problem itself.

  • Jar Jar is the allegorical serf / peasant encountered on the roadside by the youth (Anakin) who's undertaking the mythical Hero's Journey, which Star Wars is built around. At least, mesa think so!

  • And exactly whose yolk of oppression is he under? Is he a serf or a peasant? They aren't interchangeable terms, you troll. Wait a second... you are JAR JAR BINKS! That last sentence was a giveaway. ;)

  • Yolk?

    Like an egg yolk?

Or did you mean to say yoke?

They aren't interchangeable terms, either. ;)

  • If you use Lucas' logic yolk makes sense...

But I guess that I'll just say that you're wrong to save face. Stupid homophones.

  • As in he has nothing, which (in TPM) he doesn't - he was cast-out by his people and was living rough on Naboo's surface. He's Lucas' answer to the two "...serfs / peasants" that guide the viewer through Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress, which Lucas has often stated part-inspired Star Wars. He said so in the '99 BBC1 Star Wars documentary.

Calling me a troll was a bit below-the-belt - would you call me that to my face, I wonder?
