I think he is making it a bit more mainstream so it will catch on to a wider audience. I saw him preform it live on Friday night and he did it the old way and the new way which made it even more dramatic. Give it a chance, you'll see :)

Yeah, I can see that... I just feel like he originally was telling his story, and it really gave a good insight as to where he's from and what it is like in other places. I wish that would be the story in the studio song, and would be available to a wider audience. I been following him for two years, and this was the song that made me become a fan. I was at that Houston show man, you're not lying. K'Naan is unreal. Bought "The Dusty Foot Philosopher" on ebay Canada- only place I could find it- in hopes of this track among others being on it. Great album, but yeah, no "Freedom." Can't wait for when he blows up and some of these socially conscious, REAL hip-hop artists blow it up. There's a great little improv with he and Mos Def that was up on his MySpace page, dunno if it's still there though, check it out. K'NAAN RULES.
