  • Here I must defend Ruby Keeler. She had real dancing talent, just look at the spanish dance! She was a sweet actress and dancer.

  • Yes.. well.. lots of fun. I love the song. Just because someone learns dance moves and can perform them, does not mean they are a good dancer. She is a little bit of a leadfoot in almost every movie she made... and her acting is often awful. The baby story is news to me...pretty bad stuff to learn.

  • Jolson ''mistreated her?'' Are you kidding. She was talentless and used him to make her way in the business, then divorced him. Btw, while married to Jolson her PR people put out a story that she couldn't have children. After remarriage she had several. More than one columnist wrote she said she wouldn't have a baby with a Jew. I don't know about magic, but she sure had bigotry.

  • @hfelton Her "PR people"? Who, Warner Bros? They had Jolson under contract, too. The TCM documentary on her suggests AJ was unable to have kids, not her. So you're saying that she stayed married to him FOR 12 YEARS (and was anti-semitic) so as to pursue a career which she soon abandoned? Columnists at the time (and today) aren't exactly known for their scruples.

  • Ruby Keeler is always cute and had a magical something about her. Too bad Jolson, who just had to have her, eventually mistreated her and made her regrettably miserable.

  • I saw a bio of Ruby Keeler. Her children didn't even know she was a movie star until she appeared in a revival of No No Nanntte and then her movies got revived on TV.

  • Great scene. Ruby is adorable, even though she really can't dance. And Jolson is incomparable, as always.

  • It's actually a pretty good film, what with this number and "About a Quarter to Nine". Helen Morgan also sings in it and Jolson has a few solos (with some in blackface). Also appearing are Barton Maclane and Glenda Farrell.

  • The song is hilarious. First the singer starts "crooning" and then he reveals that the dancer is not real Latin and casts mischivous glances at the host.

By the way, he was once married to Ruby Keeler(the dancer).

  • This film (Go into your Dance) was the only film they appeared in together.
