  • GB...one of the best pairs of hands in the business.

  • I've bought this kit finally! Love it but i haven't the sam sound on the toms... can you tell me how have you tuned your toms? Higher at the top and lower at the bottom? Please answer

  • @Ostrica391 This is the kit i play. I am able to get a similar sound from my toms. I use Evans G1 Reso's for the bottom and Evans EC2's for the top. I tighten the bottom heads pretty tight, and then tighten to the tops until the heads are barely resonating then tune them by ear the rest of the way. I hope this helps you out.

  • "unlimited resonance and volume" hahahaha. Wouldnt that just mean the drums would never reach their loudest and if you hit them, they would ring forever?

  • @w9jon That's right. It's straight out of the Mapex product literature: "Our drums defy the laws of physics." ;)

  • I hate that he has sunglases on!!!!

  • Does anyone know if these are the way they sound in real life, or if they sound this good because of the micing?

  • @cannibalcorpse135 Well unless he was 'cheating' then they should sound close to this. Depending on how you tune them.

  • @cannibalcorpse135 -if you tune them the same and are in a studio, yeah. but it depends on your location, micing , tuneing .......

  • man, this guy is hilarious! love his patter almost as much as i like his playing!

  • nice reading LOL

  • Can't believe some ignorant twats are slagging Gregs playing, the guys a total pro!!!!!

  • mapex hardware suxs bad >< drums are great :D

  • Mapex is better than Tama and Pearl . In my opinion only gretsch and dw are better than mapex, but they are more expensives.

  • everybody shut the fuck up

  • what a voice..

  • nice kit anyone knowz price?

  • @ejnarm3 about 1500 bucks for shell pack I believe...

  • someone know what cymbals are those? thanks!

  • drumdrumdrum HIIIIIIIIIIII

  • hes shit a drumming

  • @Jozza225 Just because he's not playing blast beats does not mean he's bad. He displayed some amazing chops there.

  • those toms sound amazing!!! and that snare isn't to bad

  • gregg is like a human metronome

  • that joke was just horrible...

  • What drum heads is he using??!!!

  • @metalliclark I would assume the heads that the shell pack comes with, which are remo emperors on the toms, and ambassadors on the snare and bass, he could be using something else though

  • Does not sound that great, would never ever bought it...

  • @EILIVdrummer It sure kicks the ass of my Tama Starclassic, with some aquarian heads this thing would be really to fly.

  • @EILIVdrummer It sure kicks the ass of my Tama Starclassic, with some aquarian headsets this thing could be ready to roll.

  • @Yustax Weel, I don't agree, but it's sure ment to be like that c:

  • @Yustax They don't kick my Tama Starclassic Maples ass. Altough they sound nice. Remember, he uses microphones on the toms. Try to mic your Tama.

  • @Yustax just try spending a good chunk of time re tuneing your set . cuzz i have played tama starclassics (b/b and maple) and there great tuned well

P.S: just why aqwarean drum heads ?? id go for some Evans g1,g2, or dry

    or some emperors.

  • Nice drums...they sound sweet.

  • nota big fan of mapex, but damn! some of their finishes are so sexy

  • i just got one in that exact finish. :)

  • Whatever hi-hats those are they don't sound very nice.

  • I Love the big drum so mutch!

  • his double stroke roll is shit.

  • @Bonnance No dude , he plays double strokes - second line style ... He is a professional.

  • Can someone tell me what is better, Mapex Saturn or Tama Hyperdrive? Might be a dumb question but i can't seem to deciede, thanks :)

  • I am not a big Mapex fan but the Saturn series is a really nice set of drums. Saturns are their top of the line kit. i like the way nothing but the lugs touches the shell and the wood combo is nice. i own a Tama Hyperdrive superstar set, the basswood shells on that particular Tama series are disappointing, but after changing the heads i have found a sound i can live with but if i had a choice of the two i would definitely take the Saturns.

  • @TrevorIsCrazy Orions Their Flagship Model.

  • Hey Mapex users question from a inquiring drummer. Does anyone know if Mapex Saturn toms will fit on Sonor tom arms? Are they compatible? The reason I ask is because I like that the Sonor tom arms can move back and fourth where the Mapex arms are just fixed. Pretty specific question I know but Im looking to moutn whatever kit i go with on a Pearl Icon rack and I'd rather everything be perfect before dropping my wad

  • orion is better

  • lucky its all about the kit because his china sounds awful

  • @LaveaFirmis

    no it doesnt

  • @TheMASDrummer its dead its got know life at all

  • @TheMASDrummer you know I'm talking about the china not the kit right?

  • @LaveaFirmis

    right

  • @LaveaFirmis Its two cymbals stacked its suppose to sound like that

  • @mutantthrash I'll have to take your word for that because it only looks like one to me but either way what he used it for would have sound much better on a cymbal that had a little bit of life to it like a nice china

  • q rico toca este tipo

  • can they record STEREO sound?tired...

  • Mapex is one of those brands where you don't pay 300 bucks just for the name. I just got mine today, Meridian Maple 5-piece with 2 toms (8x7, 16x16) in the works and it cost be less than the TAMA Birch SL 7-piece kit thatI had on backorder. I slapped some Vintage Emperors on the toms and it's unlike anything I've ever heard.

  • whats the point of triggering the kick when your meant to show the sound of the actuall drums?

  • is this series expensive or average? i wanna get one.

  • @heavymetal6893 its worth more than they charge for it :)

  • @TommyOwnzU i ended up gettin an 8-piece double bass merdidian maple

  • @heavymetal6893 Still, a fantastic kit non the less :P

  • @heavymetal6893 wrong decision...

  • @Ramen1020 i think they sound pretty good. did you check out my video. its mixed but they still sound really good in person

  • @heavymetal6893 hmm, im pretty impressed. what heads are you using on your toms and bass?

And what mics/software are you using?

  • @Ramen1020 all stock heads. just tuned em right. im using shure pg's and ableton live 7. i applied eq 3 and saturation.

  • why is it on all the other vids on utube it doesnt sound like this? i like the sound here, but on other vids they sound way to overtoned

  • @anarcy7777u the other videos were the pure drums, this was probably mixed or something.

  • a dear god nice sound!!!

  • @anarcy7777u, it could be how the toms are mixed. Ever think about that

  • this kit is good, but i just wish it was a bit more focused. Anyone got any ideas?

  • @acid?... bad hardware? shellkit ~.+ yout can buy the saturn series without hardware

  • I will never like this kit because of the hardware being soooo bad!

  • I use a saturn. I will never turn back.

  • Wow, what a poor job micing that kit. Needs a little "Room" sound. Kit needs to sound a little "live" and not so dry.

  • im sorry but this video sounds horrible to me.

cant stand the sound out of those toms'.

wish they accually put some back into recording of this live sett.

  • Are you kidding. those kits sounds amazing. He's useing stock heads and they sound great.

  • want them soo bad

  • omg I love 0:35 to 0:38

  • @SnakNask he's been doing that fill for 30 years. i got the transcription in MD when I was a kid back in '85. it's been in my toolbox since then. love gregg!

  • Besonders liebe ich den Meridian MAPEX habe keine Worte, um darüber zu reden einfach unglaublich

  • Tama bubinga's are nice and sound just as good as the Saturns except the bubinga's are $500-$700 more, and the sound is nowhere near that much better than the Saturn so these are the best drums for the money IMO.

  • @motodrummer amen

  • The Bubinga's are about $1000 more, if you want the Bubingas, the the Birch mix. Yes i agree with you, completely sick drums... Best drums in my opinion for the money too...

  • should i get these or the starclassic b/b?

  • saturns definitely

  • the starclassics have more projection. you should definately try'em out yourself side by side (if possible)

  • Hi, i guess im abit late. But i heard your question - Should i choose Mapex Saturns or Starclassic bb. Im not sure about which ones i will choose, but for now this seems very interessting. The Maple and Walnut is best sounding of what i've heard out of Youtube vids and so on. :) Not sure yet but this is as i said very interessting. :) Together with a black panther snare this will be godly! :)

  • @dawnuld try the orion series you might like that better but its more money lol

  • i have saturn, toms are incredible, i woldn't change it for nothing in world, i dont have saturn snare, do you know how does it sounds?

  • i love saturn toms....!

  • @migoffspring dou you knwo if orions sounds similar?

i really dont like that sparkles of saturn :S but i love the sound xD I prefer orion, are the toms are similar?

  • Really wish there was a reasonably priced 24x20 saturn kit around :| Otherwise, sexy drums.

  • i could make love to that kit

  • You can tell just by the way that he talks that he's reading off a prompter, or at the very least, from a memorized script. But that's besides the point.

Awesome sound! When you can get a set for under $1500, it's a gift!

  • Wow, nice sound! I still like Tama's Bubingas best though. :)

  • he's totally reading off a screen!

thats why he put his shades on

    at 2:02 on

  • Totally... But its whatever.. I guess its ok cuz hes just telling us about the drum set, but he is still a douche waffle

  • he is a drummer not a newsreader

  • @GriffJmusic sooo..? he is getting payed for it xD?

  • @GriffJmusic Yep Im sure out of the entire video only the 'bye bye' was his :D

  • @GriffJmusic He needs to get the specs right. Otherwise, whatever.

  • do shell packs come with the things to mount the toms on the bassdrum if the toms are bassdrum mounted?

  • definately

  • these drums have way to much attack..

  • what is attack?

  • I own this kit and I'm going to tell you maryted the hard you hit these drums the better they sound. They project nicely.

  • Thin shells tend to choke when you hit them hard. Do these have great volume projection? They do sound great when he plays these.

  • Lol I saw this guy at a Percussion Ensemble Clinic. He did the Piglette Voice...

  • Pearl masters mcx vs mapex saturn?

which is better, better sound quality etc. Thanks

  • good question. I also want to know... but my bet is on the mapex....

  • I bought the Black Panther Brass Master 13" snare. It has solid brass lugs, solid brass shell, solid brass cast hoops and it refuses to tarnish! it sounds awesome.

  • I discovered the Mapex maple sound 5 years ago. I bought the Saturn Pro series with the wax finish. WOW! the best maple sound I have ever heard! the tom mounts are the most durable out there too.

  • wow love the sound!!!

  • Does he have to make those faces?

  • Yes he does (it makes you cool)!

  • Really? Lol.

  • It also makes you a better drummer! .. Oh ,dont forget the sunglases they make you a pro!

  • I'll remeber that next time i play the drums. =D
