You're right. Zack & Wiki is a new IP, and unless they're advertised aggressively, like Prototype or Bioshock, they don't catch on. Zack & Wiki failed to get any word of mouth too. Gunstar Heroes got word of mouth but couldn't get the mainstream to listen.
If they make a sequel, it may catch on, but didn't they say they had no plans on ever making a sequel?
The only type of media or anything that I saw that actually DID do something to get word around was Nintendo Power. They did a pretty good job of getting me excited for the game, but I never found it in stores...

Zack & Wiki is one of those "underground" fandom games...There are alot of people who have this game, but it's very hard to spread via word of mouth. That's why it's so hard to find. Well, that and Capcom's annoying habit of never releasing a second shipment for most of its games.
So all you have to do is to ride in the cart back and forth a few times to get the treasure chest? Sounds easy to me. But if I were impatient, I would be frustrated and forget about the mission.

Probably because not many people know about Zach and Wiki. It's like Gunstar heroes: Insanely awesome, yet nobody buys it.

Nobody really seems to care about it either. I suppose it's because it's very slow-paced and all about thinking rather than rushing in guns blazing.
Of course, Gunstar Heroes has the exact opposite approach but has the same problem.

Well, the other deal is that you have to have beaten the game first, which is the harder part. This Secret Treasure was pretty tedious to get though.
