  • nicole sherzinger

  • @streetz23 Yeah, she's pretty good.

  • Dan Inosanto and Willie Laureano....

  • Hey! Rachel Weisz awes Filipinos! I bet you already know this, the famous "Bourne Legacy" is now filming in Manila, and many Filipinos benefit on this. Geez! We're all excited!! Yay! :)

  • @irishgayleingco Woop-woop!

  • ernie reyes jr. also starred in 'welcome to the jungle' with the rock, christopher walken, and shaun william scott

  • @god5peed I think it was called "The Rundown" at least in the states.

  • *me and my roommate watching the clip*

    "Black swan."

    Us: Ooh!

    "Iron man"

    Us: Woh!

    "Iron man 2"

    Us: WOOOOHHH!

  • @Billie4Mozzarella So you're big Iron Man 2 fans?

  • @NationalFilmSociety It's full of awesome. :) And I'm a total Marvel geek.

  • @Billie4Mozzarella Nice. Marvel rules.

  • I got 5 seconds into the video and I had to stop...that shirt way too shiny and tight..even for a joke. I'm sure the video what great.

  • @HoserIN Shiny and tight. Sometimes that's just how you gotta roll.

  • This is Jim, producer of the new vlog Me Grimlock Vlogging About TV at youtube.com/TVCriticGrimlock. I'm temporarily hijacking Grimlock's YouTube account while his back and tail are turned so that I can say that as a Pinoy, I'm glad to see a vlog in which two Pinoys talk humorously about film and filmmaking. Any '70s Pam Grier prison movie automatically owns "Best American Movie Shot in the Philippines."

  • @TVCriticGrimlock Thanks, Jim! Appreciate the Pinoy support! Good call on the Pam Grier movies. They were previously off our radar, but we will gladly pay more attention to those in the future. Good luck to you and that kooky Grimlock.

  • How about Rob Sneider, isn't he a quarter filipino... He has got to be the best Jewish/Filipino Actor...

  • @zigggy7 He's definitely part Filipino, possibly half. While he isn't as awesome as Ernie Reyes, Jr., he's pretty cool.

  • I am watching this again and can't help but say say how Patrick is really rocking that shirt. All you need are brown polyester pants, roller skates and a boombox. Then you could be an ultra cool 70's guy for Halloween.

  • @asinsay I am wearing brown polyester pants b/c I'm ultra cool 70's guy everyday.

  • "Surf Ninjas" is one of my favorite films. I had it in VHS and now I have it on DVD so I can watch it every now and then. My favorite line is when Ernie Reyes Jr. tells Rob Schneider he can't be a "prince" because Rob isn't Asian. Of course, the joke is that in real life both have one Pilipino and one White parent. Now we have the t-shirt that says "Half Pilipino is better than none"...

  • @jinnib Totally know that t-shirt you're talking about. It's definitely true. Half Pilipino is better than none.

  • @jinnib I've never seen Surf Ninjas, but now I feel like I should.

  • @jinnib VHS is awesome, btw.

  • @patrickepino VHS is the best ever!

  • @jinnib When we're not working, we're usually talking about how awesome VHS is.

  • Awwwww. No Lumpia Party.

    TEEHEE!

  • @sam26Original2men Well, we had a Lumpia Hangout instead. Not as big, but still fun. Thanks for checking out the video!

  • I clicked on "LIKE" even though I won't be able to go to your party. c",) But it seems like there is something wrong with my connection... The count number did not change.

I shared the link via email and twitter instead.

Both persons mentioned by you are WINNERS in my book -- one for credentials and the other for congeniality.

I grew up in the 80's but I prefer older American films shot in the Philippines.

Question: does Lea Salonga count as a Filipino who worked in an American movie - ALLADIN?

  • @5thChestnut Thanks for sharing our video! And good point about Lea Salonga. It's easy to forget about her performance in Aladin because we don't see her. But she certainly is a star, and that film is a major one.

  • Love this video. Hey Patrick, my uncle had a shirt just like yours, but he wore it well into this century. Walter as your favorite Fil-Am working in America is awesome.

  • @asinsay Arlyn, Patrick's shirt is timeless. He should probably wear it whenever he goes out. Are you voting for Walter as the most awesome Fil-Am in film?

  • @asinsay I have 3 of these shirts total I think. They'll be in heavy rotation on future episodes.

  • @NationalFilmSociety Hope to see those other shirts in the rotations sometime soon.

  • @asinsay We love Walter "Double Threat" Boholst. Best Filipino Filmmaker/Lawyer I know.

  • GREAT video :) Just noticed the view count doesn't correspond to the amount of people reposting this on Facebook. I want to help and re-share it, but I think when people watch this video through Facebook (the embedded file) instead of taking it to the Youtube website, it doesn't count towards the overall view count! Just a heads up in case. Anyway, I'm sharing it regardless. Thanks for your work and creativity!

  • @indulay That's an interesting point. You may be right. Thanks for sharing (via email, twitter, tumblr, fax, whatever), and please tell your friends to do the same! How did you stumble upon our video?

  • @indulay Great meeting you! Thanks for your support!

  • @indulay Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • They filmed Gymkata in the Philippines too. I vote for Gymkata! He'd kicked the American Ninja's a-hole.... because he's a gymnast. A sexy one.

  • Because I know him personally, Walter. i vote for walter.

  • @miracarmona Nice, a solid vote for Walter! But between us, if you didn't know him, would you still vote for him?

  • @NationalFilmSociety yea, between me and you and the wall on youtube, huh =P

  • @miracarmona Ok, we'll take this thread offline.

  • Ernie, Walter and Matty, all awesome Filipinos in American Movies. So are you guys! Don't forget John Manal Castro (DIARY OF A GANGSTA SUCKA), Gene Cagayon (DEBUT), and Rod Pulido (FLIPSIDE). And Mark Dacascos currently in Hawaii Five-O as Wo Fat! And Liza Lapira (from SOPRANOS and 21). They're more out there.

  • @HowardCabalfin We know Gene and John. Great guys. Would love to see Flipside. And Mark Dacascos is certainly living the dream. Good calls!

  • @HowardCabalfin You're right. Diary of a Gangsta Sucka is a classic. Totally remember it from back in the day. Thanks for the refresher.

  • @HowardCabalfin Would love to check out Diary of a Gangsta Sucka sometime. John Castro is so hilarious in person.

  • Stephen & Patrick obviously the most awesome Philippinos in film today. American Ninja & Ernie Reyes JR definitely great calls. Quality editing on the clip as well. You guys ROCK!

  • @devo426 Thanks for the kind words. Glad you are feeling the Ernie REyes JR and American Ninja references. That probably means you grew up in the 80's like we did. Is that right?

  • and i vote for Matty Libatique

  • @ammarek He and Walter are like 1 and 1A (:

  • @ammarek Good choice. Can't go wrong with one of the top cinematographers in the world.

  • Walter! LOL! You dudes crack me up!

  • @roman705 Walter Bo-holst. BOH-olst. Bo-HOLST. He's awesome. Thanks for watching!

  • @roman705 Walter is the man behind the man.

  • See what I mean?!

  • You guys are ridiculously cute and funny! :-D

  • @ammarek Ridiculous - yes. Cute and funny - maybe Patrick's shirt.

  • @ammarek Haha. Thanks.

  • @Patrick whaz up with the hair man? I wish I lived in LA for the Lumpia party.

  • @Mammalib Where do you live?

  • @Mammalib Haha. The hair's naturally like that. Has a mind of its own. We have a written agreement.

  • Patrick, I think you need a tighter shirt. LOL. What about the telemarketer?

  • @101bigtrade Patrick definitely needs a tighter shirt...NOT.

  • @101bigtrade Hahaa. I tried to shrink it more but polyester kinda stays one size. Telemarketer's might make a comeback.

  • @patrickepino I would love to see the telemarketer make a comeback. She's a cult figure among the die hard NFS fans.

  • @NationalFilmSociety she'll be back... soon

  • @patrickepino Really? Let's make this happen!

  • @Dypiangco Make what happen?

  • Digging the Filipino farmer tan!

  • @lauramarie0825 Thanks for noticing. That was due to a day at the beach without much sunscreen and keeping a shirt on the entire time. Oops.

  • really? movies with ninjas? :D

    it's li-ba-ti-ke not libatik ;3

  • @sujiero22 Yeah, we kinda like Ninjas. And thanks for the pronunciation help!

  • I vote for PATRICK, because of his kick-ass shirt, and kick-ass hair!

  • @purpleyams4ever He does have a pretty sweet shirt. Kick-ass is definitely a good way to describe his hair.

  • @purpleyams4ever Thanks, I'll take it! No one ever votes for me for anything (; Btw, that was my dad's favorite shirt back in the day. I'll tell him you liked it.

  • I didn't know a Filipino dude did Black Swan! The cinematography in that was sick!! Ernie was the shit in the Rundown when he kicked the Rock's ass

  • @MessyManifestations Totally! Matty Libatique is awesome. But Walter Boholst does have +1000 Facebook friends. Tough call. The Rundown was cool.

  • @NationalFilmSociety How can anyone compete with +1000 Facebook friends? Very tough call... Unless someone has +1000 Google plus friends and circles!

  • @MessyManifestations I guarantee Walter will beat Matty to the punch on that one. Maybe they should just arm wrestle.

  • You guys are killing me! Great stuff. Ernie was the best on Last Dragon.

  • @farmerjohneric You're right. That one was actually pretty awesome. Surf Ninjas, not so much.

  • @farmerjohneric Yeah, Last Dragon is an awesome film. Now that would be a sweet remake.
