  • @theweirdguy99 me too XD but personnaly flea drives me here

  • I bought an Andean (Bamboo) saxophone. I thought she might somehow help

  • you are useless

  • yeesh she didn't even play the thing. Tip for beginners if you push on the reed with the bottom of your mouth a bit when you play it doesnn't take as much air to play.

  • @GamerGirlPs3 Biting the reed? Terrible advice... that makes it squeek and bleh.

  • @miphino biting the read? no I said PUSHING on the read with the bottom of your mouth, not biting it.

  • wow, all of you people need to lay off. she's trying to help you ungrateful people

  • thumbs up if you watching this video and don't have a saxophone

  • thumbs up if you watching this video don't have a saxophone

  • u fucking ssssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk OLD BITCHHHHHHHHHH

  • How do you not know how to hold a sax?

  • Why do I even watch these video's?

    I don't even have a saxophone.

  • @theweirdguy99 because ur the weird guy

  • @theweirdguy99 lol same here but i want one

  • i wanna play the saxophone

  • how many videos do i have to watch til you actually play the dam thing!!!!!! fuck

  • just got a alto sax for christmas. how do u play like first 3 notes? write help advice on my channel

  • Ive been playing the saxaphone for years and I play the alto and It looks a lot diffren then mine! My dad says mine looks a lot diffrent then when he played beacuse it was a long time ago. Why do they keep changing the look?!?

  • @mister00125 I guess it would depend on how tall the player is. If they're short enough to where it will sit on the floor (like a little kid or shorter adult?), then they wouldn't need a strap, but someone taller would unless they slump over because the weight of the alto has to be somewhere other than your hands (because you use both to finger the keys). The only exception would be the soprano, but maybe the bigger saxes CAN be played w/o a strap. I have a tenor, and wouldn't try it w/o.

  • @mister00125 truth

  • Is this suppose to be a girl?

  • is it that fucking difficult to hold a saxaphone gosh

  • you would know about finger placement

  • lol James HECK

  • wow, nicely done :D

  • Hello!

Very interesting. Please have a look on my Saxophone Duets

    Greeting from Berlin

    Milo

  • Can just ANYONE be an "expert" for Expert Village?

  • @TenorSax123 apparently

  • @TenorSax123 YUP Mitch Kaplan is my favorite. he has 7 cd's if you like his stuff...he is "nationally known" according to his bio...he must be good. This shit is a mockery of Music Education. and these kind of "teachers" arent just online...these kinds of people have real teaching jobs too...and people wonder why music programs get cut....

  • is alto wat lots of ppl prefer to play or tenor?

  • why do sax's need a neck strap?

  • @RJA10001 to take the weight off your hands...you might as well ask why guitars have straps

  • @sacredgeometry well some guitar players don't use a strap and I play tenor sax and I normaly don't use the neck strap

  • @RJA10001 i know :) i was just pointing out why someone would. Its so you can support the weight of the instrument on your neck so your hands are freer to play.

as you play sax i now think that was a rhetorical question so sorry :)

    Peace

    Brian

  • @RJA10001 As a tenor player, you probably just let the sax sit on the floor, which is fine if you always play sitting down, same as a guitarist, who has his/her leg upon which to set the guitar. But when you stand, you can't support its weight and play at the same time. But with an alto, I'd think the neck strap is needed even when sitting because its not tall enough to reach the floor.

  • It beautiful jazz! Have you ever heard of jazz house compositions Valerio Minicillo? The First, Crazy Funky, wow! There is a wonderful video, which is LA MAGIA DEL SAX !

  • qqqqqqq merda ela não toca o sax!!!

  • I play the alto sax too. It's fun.

  • im 10 and I play Alto sax

  • @MultiDads Keep it up dude

  • im learning how to play sax on tuesday!

  • @meggie10Jubes i cant wait until i finally get enough money to get my new alto sax and learn to play i also play drums but i want a wind instrament too :)

  • @meggie10Jubes

What are you going to do on Wednesday?

  • listen LA MAGIA DEL SAX by Minicillo

  • listen LA MAGIA DEL SAX by Minicillo

  • oh my god. i knew that like as soon as i picked it up, its really not that hard to put your hands on the keys that are practically labeled on their parts.

  • just curious, like haven a leftsided drum set.

  • LOL... I knew that in 2minutes when i first put my eyes on a sax LOL

  • honestly leslie..i hate you with a passion

  • right on

  • @kagemoren Why?

  • Wonder how a fingering be if you have a left handed sax?

  • it would be the same

  • @GJediAR No such thing as a left handed sax as far as I know... I've never seen one. Tried to Google it and couldn't find it... Maybe there is one out there somewhere in the world... But it's not really needed. I am sure there are a lot of lefties out there playing regular saxes successfully...

  • @AleGorymusic im not

  • what's the point of having a left handed sax? you would still use both hands.

  • Roll tide... Good to see they are giving you a "quality" education down there......

  • quisiera entenderlo pero hablo español deberia de ser con traduccion

  • No hablo espanol.........jerk

  • music! great.

  • I've been playing for 2 months now and im pretty sure i have better technique than this "hoarder" lol

  • Acturally what she is saying is true.. if you keep your hands relaxed it makes it easier playing little runs. And I learned from my band director, but he's been playin saxophone since he was 4 and now he's 54 soo yeah I'm sure he knows more about it then the 1 year people...

  • ok ive been playing for a year and now in 7th but im already playing high school music like 10th 11th grade and the place u put ur fingers r right but ya like she put her right hand too high and then slid it down i bet she was just taught b4 she made this video..... really dont trust this video. find a private teacher find a band director! any1 who knows how to play sax that ur sure of! dont trust this hoarder! ps she looks like a hoarder lol

  • Wow im sorry but you are positively awful. 90% of what is in this video is not true. And how much do you wanna bet this lady has compulsive hoarding disorder?

  • I agreed with pretty much everything she said. Better than a lot of other instructional videos I've seen.

  • Sorry man but fact is she doesnt know what shes doing. I dont know how long you've been playing but even a beginner with a small bit of experience would know she has awful technique.

  • I've been playing for about 14 years now. I dare say I have a good idea of what I'm doing. I just think what you're saying is too harsh. And trust me, I would be all for criticizing if this video were that bad. I just feel that I need to balance your initial comment. Her technique may be bad and all that, but if a beginner took what she said and applied it, they would do alright. How many kids learned to play saxophone from a band director that was primarily a trumpet player or something?

  • I see what your getting at. She's teaching it like.....7th grade spanish where they talk in infinitives. Its wrong, but it initially teaches you and you upgrade it later. Maybe a terrible analogy but thats what I consider it to be. Esta bien expert village pero se recomiendo que enseñen mas mejor.

  • O right. So its ok to have a really poor approach to playing as long as you're just teaching beginners, children etc. Think about that please!

  • 1:22 FAIL! If I remember correctly after playing sax for the past four years, the octave key DOES NOT produce lower notes. FAIL!

  • @greenbayfan37, she didn't say the octave key produces the lower notes. She said to rest your thumb on the non-moving part when playing in the lower register, aka not holding down the octave key.

  • Go and listen again, she says the BLACK button, not the octave key

  • she never said it produces lower notes!!!

  • 0.47-0.49 she puts her right hand too high on the saxophone then moves down to find the keys. this proves that she has no idea what she is talking about.

  • thanks

  • Beginners! Don't do what she does. Or else you will have to unlearn all the horrible technique this lady attempts to teach.

  • i have a question where should i buy an alto saxaphone

  • you should get yours off of ebay

  • When you use the register key roll your thumb to it, dont jump. I have been playing saxophone for 7 years now and i used to do that but once I got good, it really was hard to go fast. Begginers-heed my warnings. She is teaching bad register key form.

  • nice title

  • I already know how to play the alto saxophone

  • 0:15

  • helpful

  • If you're going for jaz, get Tenor.

  • any one have any tips i play trumpet and some piano. and im in 8th grade jazz/ symphonic band and i realy would like to play a saxophone but idk which one would be nice im kinda choosing between alto and tenor but im not sure if u have ant tips it would be great thx!

  • keep clicking 0:15 its funny

  • lol

  • i would finger this fat ho instead of the sax

  • im trying my house mates sax for the first time.. i can make horrendous noise.. i love it.. i gota couple of notes.. i will keep practicing.

  • ira la iaputalavieja

  • vieja culia penca

  • muito bom...continue assim

    abracos

  • Now remember kiddies it's important to shake your hand and have it go limp before putting it on the saxophone. That way you know how to hold the fucking saxophone........

  • LOL

  • if a sax is older will it work better? my band teacher said that but i dont really know.....

  • if its older it would sound probly morre juicy a little difrent then these day

  • how much $ is a saxaphone (generally)?

  • depends on where you buy it and the quality you want. i got my around 2000. but i got good quality.

  • wow! ok thanks

  • hello

    i have a question..

i noticed today dat everytime i go to tounge a note it squeaks!!

i didnt use to do dat..anybody help!!

i recently changed mouthpiece.but ive had it for a week nd it jst started today

  • ur reed isn't wet enough. :)

  • either your reed isn't wet enough or you just need more experience and try to control your embrasure. How long have you been playing also?

  • 4 like 9 months..

    wats embrasure?

  • Im not sure how its really spelled but its just like mouth control kinda, it could be because your lips and mouth are too loose when you play it depends, but when I started out I couldn't stop squeeking for like 3-4 months but embrasure comes with experience so continue to practice and soon that squeek thing won't even be a factor.

  • CANNONBALL SAXAPHONES ARE THE MOST BEASTLY SAX PERIOD AND SELMERS BUNDY'S SUCK DEAL WITH IT haha

  • Don't make fun of my saxophone! xD It has feelings you know....

Seriously, I've had mine for forever. It was originally my older sister's and it's a Selmer Bundy. It's lasted.....for almost 12 years. Don't tell me Bundy's suck, cause I want to see your Cannonball last for almost 12 years. =P

  • See i play a bundy 2. Im okay, and i think ill post videos of me playing it.

  • palm keys??

  • how to play c on saxaphone? anyone?

  • Low C: All keys down, except your left pinky; right hand pinkie, lower key

Middle C: Middle finger on your left hand down only.

High C: Same as middle, except with the octave key down.

  • or u just hold nothin

my band instructor calls it the naked note :p

  • LOL!

  • the low c is all six buttons down and the last button usong ur pinky is half pressed the high c is ur middle finger with ur left hand

  • thank you i play an alto sax too ^^ but its at a junior band so umm =^.^=

  • no her sax is an empire or jupiter

  • I'm a sax pro on a shitty saxophone, by some chinese people lol

  • i have the same sax as her..

    evette i suppose

  • Rather than mucking about with flopping your hand, just hold it whatever way it feels right!!!

  • hi thanks can u make a vid on it coming in the box and just getting it and make vids longer pls thank u have helped a futer jazz god

  • future jazz god my ass

  • lol, word.

  • how many instruments does this lady play!!!

  • man i satarted saxaphone like today and can somone cut the bullshit and tell me of any vids or anything whare it cuts the shit and gives some good advice (i am verry familier with sheat music)

  • what excatly do you need?

  • i llove my sax.. you get to finger it to change its sound

tounge it to switch notes sharply

blow it to make it do anything

    its kinda.. sexual.

  • What are you, 12?

  • I am seven of course.

  • I'm the same situation as UzamakiNaruto96 I've played cello for 5 years so I'm very familiar with notated music. I've been doing Sax for a year but I have to improv a song from a G Major backing Track. (Though G Major is a fairly easy key to play in getting the notes to sound "jazzy" with the backing chords is irritatingly difficult)

  • You can make anything sound good. You just have to search for the notes. Just because it's in G major doesn't mean you only have 7 notes to choose from, it just means that's where the root is.

  • it's not that. it's that the backing switches from G Major to A minor every 4 bars, to notice that is very hard. And i use the octave and High D (over octave C) so i think thats around 16 notes or something. But now I'm on improv on G blues, C blues, F blues AND D blues. Big one in Christmas.

  • G maj to A min is diatonic, you aren't changing keys at all. G maj and A min are the same technically, since A min is just the IImin7 of G maj. Have you had any theory training? I recommend you look into it. It'll really open up your improv.

  • Yes i'm only grade 2 theiry but i understand how keys work but I already forgot about my A minor-G major song. I know it is the same but you start on the A not the G. I'm not amazing at theory but i can get my head around scales and time, and key signatures, intervals and tones and semitones (minor 3rd, perfect 4th, perfect 5th etc.). Like I said if you have any tips for Blues scale pentatonic I'll gladly take your advice BECAUSE i have finished my G major piece OK.

  • also my sax is SO LOUD I CAN'T HEAR THE FRICKIN CHANGE!!!

  • Shouldn't have to hear it to know it's supposed to be there.

But anway, any tips for a blues scale... hmm. Yes. #4 (b5) sounds good. I don't really know how to give tips for scales, since they're just fundamentals. Play them with your metronome set to 60 beats per minute, then every day increase the speed by 1 number. Yes, just one. It's long, but your scales become really clear.

  • oh no i meant any tips for How to effectively use the blues key.

  • fingering lol

  • haha wow dude...seriously

  • I just started sax yesterday it's kinda easy for me cuz I played the clarinet for about 2 years and their pretty similar.

  • I play guitar at the moment so do you think it would be easier for me when fingering the keys on a sax?

  • i wanna learn sax but it looks hard. mann i love kenny g.

  • its not easy, but with effort you can learn. the hardest part about learning the sax is getting perfect embouchure, which is the way you position your mouth on the mouthpiece and reed. once you get that playing the sax will be fun and easy.

  • Eh, it's not that hard, I've been playing it for 3 years now at school. First chair ^^.

  • i have been playing alto sax for a lng time but beginners dont go of of this its alot slimpler than this

  • I have been playing the sax for quite a while

I just felt like watching this

  • the octave key is also the register key i play a song called galactic conflict, american folk song portrait, pirates of the carribean, jurrasic park and others if anybody knows a band teacher named mark paqutte please send a note to my account name because he is my band teacher.

  • These videos are helpful for the first two days of playing. However, since it is for the absolute beginner maybe she could focus on what buttons make what notes?

  • lol noobz

  • ok so, i started playing the sax at age 9 and nobody helped me i started to follow my partner(hard instrument)

  • In additin to the way to hold the sax, I'd really like for someone to show me some of the basic fingering on this thing!!!

  • hey dude, i've played the alto sax for nearly 7 years now, pls rate my bach saxophone video.

i know its not very loud, but its cuz im using a laptop, pls rate how you think i am, cheers:

    watch?v=vjESdeduhfg

  • i just got my sax today and need to learn!!so i likes this it helped alot

  • I'm thinking about taking up the sax and I found this useful - at least I now know where to put my fingers.

  • Best place - in your ears.

  • I Started a week ago and even an absolute beginner Would find this video totally worthless... Well done.

  • learn to play the chromatic scale, then learn to play the major scale in every key

  • Agree. I started 44 years ago. Oh, and a women's place is in the kitchen. And no cookery videos please. Anyway you shouldn't be reading this - get back to practising!!!

  • excuse me? a womens place is anywhere she wants to be. i dont know how old you are.. but if you started 44 years ago youre ancient. times have changed. and i bet you anything a woman could kick your elderly ass anyday of the week.

  • Does she even really play sax?

  • I love how she moved her right hand the first time to the wrong position.

  • it is

  • lol
