  • mother nature, it doesn't give a shit

  • That's some scary shit right there...After watching alot of Bear Grylls, he made a human-flashflood and that looked intense!! let alone one made by nature not man..It has no safety rules, just pure chaos.

  • omg that went by my grandads house!!!!!

  • Musical Reference - Doobie Bros " Black Water "

  • This shit went by my house!

  • its the smoke of LOst

  • The water is black due to the ash and mud it consisted of. It is the product of seasonal monsoon rains and the Piute Fire that burned over 37k Acres in 2008. My division alone lost over 2 miles of hose & collateral.

  • Free irrigation:)

  • Anybody remember "Pirates of Dark Water" cartoon?

  • Awesome video but why was the water all Black ??

  • Amazing!!! and scary

  • Awesome footage

  • That was a crappy day. I remember that. Now I don't live there anymore, so I don't have to worry about it. I am now 3000 miles away, but I have to come visit family still.

  • 1:57...that would be one of those "Oh crap!" moments when you're parked on the road (inside talking with Bobby Sue at the diner) and see a big black puddle engulf your prized "Pick'em'up truck" as most people in the country would say...

  • I bet the trees are happy to see the sludge creeping through the desert..man that must have being some storm to dump all that rain

  • the way the water move's and how fats is just amazing

  • Looks like flash mud to me.

  • The black water looks threatening.

  • Q Burn and Bulk

  • looks like death looking for a life.

  • Oh my gosh! I just spent the last 3 days on Lake Isabella, and I was staying in a tiny little home like 2 miles from the dam... If I had seen this video 2 days ago, I'd be a total nervous wreck!

  • omg

  • The black is ash from the Piute Fire burn area upstream from where the video was shot. Thunderstorms formed over the fire area and dropped heavy rain in a short period of time.

  • Bummer it didn't flood out the entire meth lab, hillbilly, scumbag, low life infested town. Lake Isabella is the biggest $*&^%$#@ on earth.

  • @kzittlow be nice I lived up there for 19 years, i know it ain't the best place on earth but really, is any place better? I'm outta there now, but my parents and my in-laws are still there. I don't like to go back, but I still do because people I love are there. And no, they aren't into Meth and are not scumbags ( like some people I know....) and they aren't low lifes ( like, as I said, some people I know.....). Please

Please don't say stuff like that, it hurts people....

  • Awesome! Can you amagine if the dam fails!

  • Holy smack! How far did this thing run out? Looks like it wasn't raining where did the water come from? Awesome video

  • It ran into Lake Isabella the town and divided Lake Isabella from Bodfish which are 2 towns close to each other.

Than ran into a public park called tank park because of the memorial of Pearl Harbor and ending up in the Kern River.

    Fucked up everything.

  • Is it water or mud and where did it come from? I love these views of Mother Nature doing her thing! Thanks for the info!

  • It Is A Mix of Water and Mud Just Like When You Were A Kid and You Seen A Dirty Mud Puddle and Splashed In It Except Times That By A Million and Add Suit From The Fires We Have.

It Came High From The Mountains of the Piutes I Think and Followed Down Erskine Creek Which Is The Path Your Seeing it Take In The Video.

  • Wow that is an awesome thing to see! Thank you!

  • OMG!!!

  • there goes the only road to and from my house!

  • it looks like the nothing from neverending story.

  • @belfastsixpack

Or the smoke monster in lost . . .

  • ya i live here and it was carzy but ya like valleytenderfoot said there was huge fires everywhere and we has several huge rains within like a week and brought all the ash down.. it was insane because this happened like 2 days in a row.

  • i love California

  • I only have 3 words for this video. Oh My GOD!!!. I have a couple of others, but I can't repeat them here.

  • wow that looks unreal

  • wer the f does the water come from man ????? antartica ????

  • pardon me when i say this but WHEN DID WATER LOOK BLACK

  • I believe there were wild fires upstream from this area which burned off the vegetation. Then it rained heavily and caused the flash flood, which was black from all the ash.

  • When it came from the Piute fire burn zone.

  • because it's not water, it's mud.....

  • possibly peat marsh formed from dead vegetation that drowned in highlands from stagenent rain water that swalled then birst the soil that was pluging some mini lake so pete was carried from high lands giving it the dark colour !?

  • i lived in lake isabella when this happend and my house was literally about 100 yards away it was pretty crazy and ya it was in 2008,the names jeremy webb

  • my toyota 4x4 would love it out there, once i buy and a 3" rancho lift on it, maybe a 4"

  • Black Death. That just goes too show that even if its not raining where you are, Flash Flooding can KILL Miles away from its origin.

  • thats crazy and awsome.

  • Oh, question answered -- it is Erksine Creek

  • What wash is that going into Lake Isabella?

  • ok i was there when this happened i used to live in lake isabella california

    yea hi

umm yea it was recent actually in july of 2008

its not fake but yes it does look fake

the roads to my house were cut off for almost an entire month other places it was longer

    yea it was pretty bad

  • Holy Crap! That is the most insane flash flood video I've seen to date! That is a great capture.

    David

  • this was reacent?

cause i didnt c any damage when i was there last friday

  • This happened around July 10th or 11th of 2008.

  • o cause i saw some burnt trees wen i was there at august

  • This is what happens when you have a brush fire 20 miles away and then you have thunderstorms with torrential rain over the top of it...Massive flash flood! This is why the water is black,it is all ash and soot from the fire.

  • Wow indeed... Weird how fake it looks too O_O

  • WOW! Awesome video.

Bright sunshiny day. Was the storm that caused the flooding even visible in the area shown?

The video really shows how fast Mother Nature can send things sideways.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Bright sunshine? Take a look again...the shadows are all fuzzy. It was high overcast--what was left of the thunderstorm that caused the flash flooding.

  • holy sh!t

  • Wow. That's a pretty graphic example of how dangerous sudden storm runoff can be, also why everyone should own a NOAA all-hazards alert radio and heed warnings when they are issued. Thanks for posting.
