  • Best movie ever along with graphic novel and cast

  • love this so much

  • haha at all these 2 year old comments

  • The Comedian and Rorschach are listening to this in comic book Heaven right now.

  • Thankyou buttonfreak 101, simply excellent!

  • I love this version rather than the fast one :)

  • i always thought it said "And in your darkest hour,

Now Old secrets Fade. lol it sounds better

  • To those asking about downloading this song, that's just about as silly as trying to string a LIME on a WIRE ;)

  • Awesome song indeed, hope the movie is as good as the graphic novel, not dumbed down or anything like that . =)

  • these lyrics are way better than the original.

  • it's better at this speed

  • It's a completely different song with a completely different sound and completely different lyrics.

  • they are both good songs, and while "different" it's obvious what song inspired this one

smashing pumpkins can do no wrong...except Zeitgeist

  • this song is incredible :) is there anyway u can provide a download?

  • i thought it was send a happy tune the one that cracks through you

  • awesome song...

although the movie's gonna suck im afraid :P

  • i highly doubt that, book was amazing

  • Have you read the graphic novel?

  • next to The Dark knight...

Watchmen is gonna be THE SICKEST MOVIE EVER

    THE GRAPHIC NOVEL WAS AMAZING!

    RORSHACH.........BOSSSS.......

  • My younger brother did a lot of the mo-cap for WM last year. He said exactly the same thing when I went to visit him in Culver City.

"This is the sickest show I've ever worked on..." haha CANT WAIT!!!

  • I absolutely love this song! :)

  • For real.

    F*ckin' EPIC song.

    Uhmayzing Graphic Novel!!!

I Love that this song was written for BATMAN and now it's in Watchmen...

  • great song!

  • i had to read the watchmen twice to under stand wtf was goin on.... so complicated brilliant! i loved it

  • It's actually pretty simple: Depressing scene, depressing scene, awesome scene, depressing ending, happy ending, awesome book!

  • Amazing !!!

  • best graphic novel ever!!! pherhaps the umbrella academy is better, at least that's what i think... but i love Watchmen, specially because it is from the same writters as V for Vendetta... Anyway, i can't wait to see da movie..!!!

  • This is one of the best and most atmospheric songs I have heard in a movie trailer. It really does the movie credit. I just had to listen to the whole version.

  • I'm just reading it cause my friend told me to, she's a complete comic book nerd. WHICH IS AWESOME.

Amazing song by the way, Smashing Pumpkins ROCK.

  • im optimas prime

  • damn i love this song

    its so epic

  • The watchmen is pure brilliance and this song sounds great on the preview! I can't wait for the movie...Rorchach's mask is the coolest.

  • Wow

i'll admit i only heard this song on the watchmean trailor

    but omg

its one of the most amazing songs ive ever heard

the song alone made me want to go see watchmen :L

    love it x

  • wait is it a book or a graphic novel

  • graphic novel

  • Billy Corgan is perhaps the creepiest human I have ever seen...but he is a musical genius.

  • I'm glad some good old Smashing Pumpkin music is getting out there. They fucking rock.

This movie looks promising as well.

  • The whores will look up and shout "Save us".

    And I'll whisper "No".

  • "And all the whores and polititians will look up and shout 'save us,' and I'll look down and whisper'no.'"

Not to be a total nerd, LOL.

  • =_= You shut up. Its awesome people like you that make me wish i read the comics earlier. Now if i read i look like a hypocrite. "OH YOUR ONLY READING IT CAUSE THEY MADE A MOVIE OF IT"

Seriously nerds are the awesomest people ever

  • i love this song it is so dark every time i hear it i jst want to cause some trouble

  • Beautiful!!!!... so dark, so cool, better than the original...

  • fav song nao

  • I know me too.

  • i just wanna cause some anarchy when i hear this song

  • I hope this movie will be great. But I hope they screw it up like 2004 Hulk. If it's like the comic it will be epic.

  • personaly i expect a fuck up to apeal to the younger audenice because of hollywood and america However it is being made by the director of 300 and that was pretty true to the comic so who knows

  • if it'll be epic if it's like the comic-- then WHY do you want them to screw it up??

  • whoops, typo. I meant I hope they don't screw it up.

  • Oh.. xD

    yeah me to with that.

I really hope they don't turn this into some... crappy tinny-bopper movie...

not that that would even be possible at this point lawl

  • everytime i see the trailer i get chills up my spine

  • the watchmen will be the best movie of all time, right up there with sky captain and the world of tomorrow

  • Finally, someone else who admits that Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was truly a great movie. Watchmen is gonna kick sooooo much ass!!!

  • im def. going 2 see watchmen. it looks like moar then a basic super hero movie.

  • OMG!!! i cant wait till this movie comes out. i am literally counting the days until it comes out and i love the theme song. i love watchman!!!!

  • these guys are fantastic but i fuckin love this song. its soo good. and watchmen looks like it will be fantastic. i am thoroughly enjoying the whole comic book revolution thing. but batman, the hulk, iron man, and now this!! im really stoked for this movie. it was a 12 part comic thing was it not? is that considered novel or set of comics? either way im not complaining its gonna be fatastic.

  • whats watchman?

  • its a comic series written by Alan Moore that turns the superhero archetypes on its head. check it out its good.

  • its people watching men

  • One of the best books ever published, my friend.

  • yeah, its amazing

  • My one hope for this movie is that they don't screw up Rorschach. Does anyone know who is playing him in the movie?

  • Jackie Earle Haley

  • Thanks.

  • James Earl Jones

  • Watchmen = Best Graphic Novel EVER.

  • I'll second that!

  • this song is amazing. i cant wait for watchmen to come out. im definately gonna see it in IMAX

  • The movie actually looks kick ass, the only thing that I'm worried about is the ending, which I know they've changed. By the way, thanks for posting this song.

  • I think they'll keep the pirate comic thing 'cause at comiccon I saw some sweet preview pics and one was of bernie's newsstand. Die hard fan, if the movie sucks I swear I'll have a stroke

  • I heard that they were bringing out a full black freighter movie as a teaser-type thing before Watchmen. It isn't very likely now, but maybe it will be a seperate feature on DVD?

If it's in the movie, hopefully it will be slotted in as well as in the gn.

  • The current plan is to release Tales from the Black Freighter and Under the Hood as a DVD, then combine Black Freighter on an "ultimate edition" DVD for a staggering four-five hour epic.

  • They're doing under the hood too!? Cool! ^^

I'll have to restrain myself from going anywhere near watchmen DVDs until I see an Ultimate Edition, then! ^^

    Thanks.

  • OOH good news they're actually making 'Tales of the Black Freighter' as a short/featurette on the DVD. d(-'.'-d).

Oh, and for all of you who are "dying" to see the movie, but haven't read the comic, read the freakin' book, you antiliabalist b*******

  • i have never read the comics but the trailer makes me wanna start to! ahh i really love this song too!

  • You should, its a really good comic, unlike any I have ever read.

  • eh sorry just read the no swearing thing

    sorry.... :)

  • Cant get enough of the smashing pumkins :)

    loveee themmm fuckin amazing song!

and the watchmen is one of the sickest comics of ALL TIME:DDD deep song.

  • this movie better kick ass I have high expectations for this movie!!! Hope it's not like Max Payne! or DOOM! or even BATMAN AND ROBIN!

  • I didnt like smashing pumkins until my mate told me that this was one of there songs. i mean this song is amazing

  • im proud of what Snyders doing... no one had enough balls to even think about doing watchmen but you know what he said forget that the real fans deserve to see the movie on the big screen and so what they made a few tweeks here and there but who cares its coming..... WATCHMEN....finally the day of redemtion comes

  • The movie is in point to the comic,it looks asif they took the illustrations straight out of the comicbook and brought it to life

  • sad to ee that this wont actually be in themovie because it was recorded after 1985

  • this sorta reminds me of the end of the world ....

  • Thats because thats what he is singing about...

    The kingdom come.

  • this song is awesome, fits watchmen really well

i just read watchmen for my first time, it's ridiculous good. i only hope that the movie can match it. i'm especially concerned about how they do rorschach, he's so important, especially with his "face"

    CANNOT WAIT

  • there r no lyrics

  • they're in the description

  • @chaebreannak dumbass

  • @Khordajj Why are you responding to this piss-ant? I posted this TWO YEARS AGO! Get a damn life.

  • Makes me wanna piss myself cuz it fits Watchmen so good

  • I saw the Watchmen trailer and when I heard this song I quickly downloaded it. Perfect for the tone of Watchmen

  • this song is perfect for watchmen.

  • I used to dispise this band for some reason... but this song got me to liking them. So now they are one of my fav bands. hell yeah. Great song. I like it better than the up-tempo version.

  • I'm a hardcore pumpkins fan. And I think that if they weren't going through their electronica phase when machine of the gods came out. This would have been the original version. Not the faster one.

  • i like this version a lot compared to their other one.

  • in theiry it would make a decent trilogy or 2 parter but in one film its probably gonna be crap

  • The lyrics are incorrect. It is "Now all secrets fade", not "I hold secrets flame"

  • Took out the squid.

  • They changed the fucking ending!!!

  • How so?

  • of the film or the song??!?! better not be the film!!!!

  • it will disappoint me.

    Watchmen is a true masterpiece.

Schneyder will do a mess. i'm sure.

and that s why probably i m not goin to watch it. i keep it perfectly in the way it must be: PAPER!

    great song, no doubts!!

  • I read somewhere that they used the comic book as the actual story board for the movie. So it has the potential of being exactly like the book, and thus amazing.

    I hope!

  • they hould do a movie of about 5 houres. too long and hard to tell as a story. and, i m sorry, i can t trust in Schneyder...

  • i agree with you. i'm very sad that no matter what, no matter how great of a masterpiece something is, there will always be people who look at it and go, "i can make money from this!" instead of trying to preserve and promote something the world needs to be READING rather than watching.

  • absolutly with you mate!

  • There's little question that the film is going to be inferior to the original medium, but from what I can see, it looks like a faithful adaptation. You're right, the story needs to be read, but I have high hopes for the film itself, and more importantly, for its potential to renew and expand interest in the source material. For my part, I plan to read it a couple more times before March, and again immediately after I see the movie.

  • im not just taking a shot at film adaptations. lords of the rings created its own separate entity, a masterpiece in its own right, and staying with the graphic novel genre, i felt what they did with v for vendetta was fantastic. changed the original in all the right ways. but the problem with watchmen is that it's just so intricate. it's too good to be hemmed and cut. perfection is not to be abridged in a two-hour time slot. and if moore says, "no movie", then im inclined to agree.

  • first off teh movie is pushing 3 hours in its first cut and they are doing a background dvd that is supposed to released in march or may and also the are doing the comic that is in it in its own movie so ya they are going to be going in to much intricate film than some crap 2 hour film you believe it is going to be.

  • also moore said no movie to v for vendetta as well and you said it was good so how does that work. your statements contradict...

  • whoa, take it easy there... i only said 2 hours to make a point, because that's the usual time-period for movies. i realize that it will be longer than that, if you want to play the technical game. and if you've read the graphic novels, you know that v for vendetta is a much more action-based, linear story. it is more adaptable to the big-screen than watchmen. doesn't matter if they have 5 hours to work with, the set-up of watchmen is not movie-compatible. sorry you got so riled up : )

  • did you actually read the comic? I'm rereading it right now and and i can see that almost every image in the trailer seems to be taken directly from the pages itself. its pushing nearly three hours for the movie, and unless you have issues, the story can come across in that time frame. and thats not the only watchmen media coming out, so coupled with the movie and dvd, etc etc it should be more than enough for anyone to understand, let alone the film itself. i think this is going to be faithful

  • people keep saying it looks faithful. yeah, okay, i guess the costumes and scenery look faithful. with the exception of veidt and spectre, whose 'stumes they totally changed... but this isn't the point. what separates watchmen from the rest isn't the main storyline. most people are obsessed with the main characters, but i'm interested in seeing how they pull off mal, the newstand guy, the pirate-comic parallel. you're looking at it from one angle.

  • Nite-Owl's was the costume they screwed up more than anything.

  • kindoff agree

  • veidts looks nothing like the book so I think they screwed his up

  • I doubt that the pirate comic will be in the movie. They probably won't have time for it.

  • It has been stated to be a DVD extra.

  • see, that's what i mean. the pirate comic was one of most amazing things, from a literary standpoint. and what about all the between-comics documents? how will those be explained? i feel like even if they could somehow put it into the movie, the people who haven't read it would be like "wtf?" i'm not saying this will be a bad movie, i just think so much of what made this graphic novel a masterpiece will be lost, and for that reason, it shouldve been left alone.

  • I concur

  • this movie looks like it will be one of the best movies fucking ever

  • 3:17 starts the beat part

  • You forgot "tits"

  • you know whats pretty amazing he never deleted the comment.... thats pathetic... of that guy... if he says then do it! by the way nice way to tick people off. NICE WORK!!!!!

  • no it's to speed.

  • Just so everyone knows the ending is a GIANT mindfuck. Can't wait to see it in the movie though.

  • is this song like super slowed down?

  • amazing song........so good

  • this was MADE for watchmen!!!

  • This song's lyric is so characteristic of the graphic novel, it's almost like its written for Watchmen!

  • too bad the movie will never come out fileh

  • Rorschach is the best character in the whole book!! And after that ending, I kinda hate Dr. Manhattan, he said he didn't care about humanity and then he (SPOILER) to stop Rorschach from telling....

  • so ozymidias is really the bad guy

  • i think the twist of the graphic novel is that you can no longer see who is the hero and who is the villain, it gets all mixed up

  • I am glad u said so...it always depends on who's side u r on.

  • Rorschach is my favorite Watchman!

Dr. Manhattan is a close second. This movie is gonna rock!! ^^

  • What I like is that Dr manhattan is all-powerful, but his apathy is his only weakness...brilliant.

  • he switches from apathy to childish pettyness

then again his girl was gettin fucked

  • Are you sure about childish pettiness?

She was the only thing left on earth that he cared about. By sleeping with (What's his name? Dan?) she indicated that his only remaining connection to humanity was gone.

  • This city is afraid of me. I saw his true face.

  • ...and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'save us!' ...and I'll look down and whisper 'no'.

  • Read the graphic novel over Christmas. Hot Damn! Is that an awesome book or what? I'm hyped as hell for the movie.

  • Roffles...

I always though the first lyrics were 'sing a happy tune.'

Clearly that is NOT the case...

    Thanks for the post. :'3

  • So did I...

I think I prefer 'Sing a happy tune'

  • spoilers? read the damn novel. its only been around for like ever. idiot.

  • lmao so true! its funny how people complain about spoilers.

  • this version is better

  • awesome

  • Who watches the Watchmen? I do!

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD SPOILERS

  • ok i spoiled a comic that came out in the 80s id think most of ya have read the book before comin to the smashing pumpkings song...ITS STILL A FUCKING AWESOME GRAPHIC NOVEL

  • hwy how come I cant find this song anywhere except for on youtube

  • yeah seriously

  • you can just download the youtube to mp3 software by searching "youtube to mp3" haha its in the first results you'll find it, and it dosn't take much place and you only have to put the link and it saves the mp3 on your computor :)

  • thanks thatll help mucho

  • wudge

you can find it on itunes man :) i got it there

  • hey is this like a different version of their song? i remember it being a lot faster than this...

  • that one was the END is the begginning is the END

  • there are two songs with the same lyrics. the one you're thinking of is "the end is the beginning is the end". billy corgan is a complicated guy.

  • Actually, the lyrics are similar, but different. It's just really awesome. Complicated, but awesome.

  • Great song, seems to fit perfectly with the plot of the book. Can't wait to see the movie!

  • I kinda have to agree with Allan Moore, they should not make the Watchmen into a movie. Moore's main complaint is that reading a comic book and watching a film are two fundamentally different experiences. One experience allows us to reflect more, while the other one has a temporal progression that doesn't allow the individual for much reflection or introspection. Having said, The Watchmen is a literary masterpiece on par (if not better than) with Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

  • While I somewhat agree that Watchmen shouldn't be made into a movie after reading it, I'm glad it is being made into a movie. The only reason I read it is because the movie is coming out, and I think the movie is helping Watchmen become even more popular which can't be a bad thing. It's going to be like Fight Club, great movie, great book, but not the same (and Fight Club was at parts word for word from the book).

  • Good point, popularity is rarely a negative when it comes to literature.

  • This sounds like the perfect theme song for Watchmen :/

The industrial sound effects makes it sound like clockwork $

  • Guys i finished reading Watchmen. It's amazing!

  • thought the same thing

  • Pritty :3 (I spelt "pretty" wrong. Gosh.)

  • is it bright where you are

    have the people changed

we can watch the world devoured in its pain
