  • The correct decision is Yes, Let. There was no interference at the time the striker could hit the ball. However, a let is allowed for reasonable fear of injury. To say that no let should be awarded (on the basis that a stroke was the hope of the striker) shows a lack of understanding of the rules.

  • no let. he swung and ball past him

  • Doing a freeze frame, it looks like a let. A shot to the cross court nick might have hit Ashour, which would be a stroke, which makes it seem close enough to be a let.

  • Let, fear of danger. Never should be a no let

  • @SuperSquashguy a fear of injury may still result in a No Let if the striker badly misjudged his opponents position - i.e. if the striker's fear of injuring the opponent was unreasonable.

  • mo let. ball passed him

  • david palmer's commentary was correct, let

  • no let ball was by him by far

  • let

  • No let. ball was tight to wall and past him.

  • let ball. hands down good decision

  • Let -its very clear.

  • dude is it

  • I think that is a fair decision by the marker. For sure Shabana is fishing for the stroke, the ball is slightly behind him but Ramy is not totally clear and could therefore potentially dangerous to hit that shot. Good decision let.

  • @utrabbit007 agreed ;)

  • No let. Should have been called Ashour's point.

  • risk of injury makes it a let by default. because there was a doubt or chance in the players mind as to his capability of hitting the front wall its a let. their pro refs. very hard to correct

  • I know how a let works.

Look at the replay, the ball was behind Shabana. The ball is almost at the back wall by the time he gets his racquet up! He didn't have a shot at the ball, hence there was no danger for Ramy.

And yes, the pro refs got it wrong... squash players are professional cry babies the way that they beg for lets and strokes.

  • obsolutamente LET! not a stroke.

  • who ended up winning?

  • shabana

  • Yes let, Ashour was out the way, and the ball was tight.

  • Id say its more of a debate between the no let and the let...the ball was too good and ramy was too out of the way for a stroke... the safest call would probobly be a let

  • Let!

  • let

  • definitely not a stroke

  • Good call.

  • o no let!

  • id give no let. he was fishing there!

  • @pussiofc Fishing means trying to turn a let into a stroke. You dont just give no let because he wants more than a let

  • @JackFowlerTube dip.. it was already no let he was mid swing and then asked for a let.. honestly for a pro thats a fuckin rookie move

  • @pussiofc would you have hit the ball?

  • Shabana read the ball and was practically there, so no let would be a bad call in my opinion. He reached out quite far and would have to have an impossible angle through the wall to hit Ramy so I don't think it's a stroke either. I thought the call was good.

  • try hitting a cross when the ball is that tight. see what happens and then tell me if that was a let or a stroke.

  • that's a great point.

  • Wasn't that tight. All you need is an inch or a few cm to hit crosscourt. He had that. Its a very interesting case. Good call by the ref.

  • ye, let ball. the ball werent that tight...

    deinately LET

  • seems a let to me

  • obvious a stroke cause ramy is in the path of the ball and the front wall. even though it was a tight shot from ramy. there was no way that Amr could have hit a crosscourt.

  • no let

  • no let the ball was passed him. he wasnt in position to hit a cross court. if he had his feet in a better position probably stroke...i think the only reason he got a let was in case he boast, the other guy was in the way

  • it's a let, there was interference but Amr was clearly out of position and fishing for the stroke. The ball was very tight to the wall. There was no opportunity for a winning stroke.

  • Can't tell from vdo. If ball was well past him, then no let.

  • Your right, but if a ref would always give a stroke when the front wall is not 100% Free, then there would be a load of strokes in a Squash Match... The Ref has to show a certain intuition

  • it's a stroke because shabana could not make a cross court shot because ashour was in the way of him and the front wall for that shot, only because shabana didn't have 100% of the front wall to play, it's a stroke...and theres no question that the ball was past him...it wasn't...and the speed of the ball does not come into play for this call...they are in the world top ten, the speed of thier hands is unmeasurable

  • no let ball was tight nd past im

  • no let

  • Let the ball goes so quickly

  • i dont think it can be a let,, either a strke or no let

  • at first it looks like let but on replay it looks like stroke

  • Stroke - obviously!

  • no let

  • no let

  • Let!

  • no let

  • let

  • no let
