How did he turned 300 000 like that OMG!!! I cannot believe this people, you are turning down a 100% chance of taking a safe amount of cash that can change your family's life, I mean cmon.
Horrid luck, though he got himself into it. That he refused $305 000 with such a minimal safety net is beyond me, but also the fact that he nonchalantly turned down a solid $5000 and chose to take the ill-fated $10 000 vs. $25 gamble is rather foolish. But thankfully he got out with more, and his heart almost makes up for his lack of brainpower.
I wouldn't turn down 300 grand on some random luck. That was a stupid decision. Sure he might've been lucky, but it's like a basketball pool, you never know.
I remember this episode. What was sho shocking to me was that this guy like didn't even hesitate to think about turning it down. It was just like nope, no deal, it's 1 million or bust. But like somebody else said, atleast they gave him a nice car.
As soon as Howie told me, "This is a guarantee to leave with $305,000", I would have pushed the button!!

If I recall it correctly, someone on the bench said 22...so maybe it wasn't all greed.
