My God! I've never seen so many examples of liquefaction in a single location (several earthquakes in ChCh)--no wonder the damage was so severe! Plus the near-world-record vertical acceleration. Oy!

@abeckernz noo i didnt mean it like that... i meant that nyc is so dirty that the water looks like that. and we have cracks and damage on the ground... but i dont mean the earthquake part of it

This is liquefaction. It's when the ground water gets pushed to the surface. Amazing, huh.
