Laugh in the face of all the punks discussing what freestyle is. Probably all born in the 90's anyway. The reason you here is to listen to the bars of this man, and he absolutely fucking kills it. Get over yourself and trying to school ppl on what certain words are and vybe the fuck out.
@themealicious LMAO... CHILL, MAN!!! 1 man had a problem with the word freestyle, & from what I can see, every1 else has just tried to HELP him understand the term better! But you see a problem with people even TRYING to increase someone's understanding of something? Seen. I guess you also think it's wrong to try to school today's youts on any hip hop history then... let's just "vybe the fuck out", be indifferent & let ignorance continue lol!
i think even though it may be pre written its still a freestyle, because the style of how you say it remains open, heavy bars though,in usa dont they call it free-verse? check out my freestyle or freeverse if you get a chance.....
Nice! But all this using the word freestyle for pre written verses gets on my nerves a bit. Freestyle is a different art. Can't people come up with a new word to describe live spitting of written verses rather than cause confusion? Too much confusion in this world.
@genesiselijahtv Bless. Yeah universal confusion. lol. Anyway I know you don't suffer from the herd mentality. You speak truth. Keep doing your thing. Peace.
@ogmiosmusic to me a freestyle is applying ur bars to a beat while keeping consistency. proper freestyling as you put it is more of an old skool thing from back in the 80s when hip hop was really simple
u'll find even the more know artists will have a lot of pre written bars in their freestyles. big bars on this track still
@ogmiosmusic research the meaning of freestyle, it does not mean you make something up on the spot, it is a mashup of all different styles u possess. for example a breakdance freeing doesnt just make up moves, they just dont stick to choreography instead the mashup all their moves together in whatever order, in rap you just spit bars from your head with no pen no pad, a lot of mcs will freestyle 4 verses each from a different song for example
@rosakop1 Yeah I hear that. But within a more specified context the term did come to and still does describe the act of coming up with fully spontaneous lyrics. It is a distinctly different skill from spitting pre written lyrics and a lot of heads i know still make the distinction so we can understand eachother. If I say to my friend let's spit freestyles, we're talking the improvised off the top lyrics, otherwise i'd say spit verses.
To me it's about clarity and promoting the improv freestyle
@ogmiosmusic yeah i hear ya, but if u ask me the words specified and hip hop seem worlds apart.. hip hop is the most unspecific world in this music thing
@ogmiosmusic Technically, there are 2 types of freestyle. Nowadays the term is only thought of as meaning spontaneous & improvisational unwritten lyrics, which back in the early days of Hip Hop was known as "coming off the top of the head"... but in those days, a freestyle was also a verse that could be pre-written, but wasn't about any fixed subject in particular... FREE STYLE. So what GE has done here is a written free-style verse as opposed to an off-the-top one.
@ogmiosmusic (To add to my previous comment)... Kool Moe Dee basically says the same thing about the 2 types of freestyle in his book "There's A God On The Mic". I get what you're saying tho... and I kinda agree that it can be confusing -- especially these days, since the definition has 'evolved' -- and maybe some kinda distinction between the two should be made...
I've only just found this one. I think I'll classify this as "Beast!". We're clearly getting spoilt in 2012 for UK Hip-Hop.
