I think it's not so much about getting some kind of information from the PM. It's more about getting him to address an issue publicly. Politicians often don't want to do certain things but can't admit they won't do it. At the same time a politician will always have to answer you what you want to hear. So it's a good way to make him say loud what you want him to say and later use it to make him stick to his words.
