the world is only as sexist as you women make it. last time i checked 51% of Australias population is made up of women so why not outvote men who are apparently so against having women mps?
its not democratic to hav more men than women in parliament? why should we hav 2 elect women to parliament just because they are women. being an mp is a position of honour and not a set "quota" that should be allocated according to gender, race or religion
I agree!! I get pissed off with all these do-gooders out there who start mouthing off at everyone because someone didnt get voted in just because that person happens to a female or what ever when they should just accept that they werent good enough for the job.
exactly. sometimes i get annoyed @ some of the girls im friends with who claim that because there arent enough women in politics it means that its sexist. by my reckoning 51% of the australian population composed of women so if they really thought that women were superior to men, and all men were sexist, why dont they just outvote us?
Pitty that things like the feminist LA Legal Aid have back-room courts stacked with PASSIVE PEDOPHILES (n: a person who removes rights from a child) to convict men of instant DVO's while never reporting to child protection for BS politicial ideals based on feminist media funding grants in the 70's!?! Throw in Abortion, child over-board... I wouldn't vote against abortion, but can't vote for it.
It's not about alienating men. It's about including women in addition to the men that are there. No one is suggesting that women's issues should simply override men's issues. Then we'd be where we are now by having a group of people not being heard enough in the process. This is about giving all sides a say, the fundamental principle of a liberal democracy.
So would you be against electing more women to Parliament?
The Democrats have putting women's issue on the agenda for thirty years. This isn't about burning bras. It is about addressing real issues that still disadvantage women to this day. Domestic violence, health, social services and other policies can have very gendered outcomes so it important to have input from women.
Already we have a female premier of Queensland, New Zealand Prime Minister, and have had TOO MANY female Chief Ministers/Premiers of the ACT (Follett, Carnell).
Domestic violence affects men as well as women. Anyway, you don't need input from women for things that are supposedly gendered.
I am dead set against the alienation of men for any reason.
How exactly can there have been "too many" females elected in the ACT? A whopping two is somehow over the line?
How about this: out of 37 QLD premiers, 36 have been male. Isn't that too many males? Seemingly not according to you. Reverse the situation and you're a-okay.
What's your problem here, think women are all irrational and anti-male? The mere *addressing* of women-centred issues in parliament is not going to alienate men.
Well, because of this mere "addressing" of women's issues, there has been a CHANGE in the number of women in high-powered position when we were doing OK before those unnecessary changes....
• Women who think they are high and mighty find themselves jumping off cliffs and hanging themselves due to the demands causing them stress and depression (hard to explain, but you get the idea don't you?)
• Men being pushed away in favour of women
• Breastfeeding bitches bringing babies into the Chamber (like that Katy Gallagher (MLA Deputy Chief Minister of the ACT, SHE DISGUSTS ME!!!!!!)
3. Men aren't being pushed away. A political position will be given to whoever fits it best. Sometimes biases are given towards women, but sometimes biases are given towards men.
4. All female politicians should be judged on the actions of one?
You really sound like your just uninformed and sexist, and don't want women in politics at all.
1. That's not an example. The only area where men have unequal rights is with father's rights (upon divorce etc). I think this should change, but you can't blame women for it. Men still make up the majority in parliament and the legal system. They've implemented it.
2. So? I've heard of high-powered males doing the same. Does that mean all men are incapable? Btw, neither of them were politicians.
3. Not at all. Men are still the majority. How can you feel so threatened over such a minority of women?
4. There's plenty of male politicians who've done stupid things, why not pre-judge all of them too? Let's see, there's a big problem with sexual abuse in churches. You know what that means? ALL MEN are paedophiles. Yep, for sure.
Oh? and what do you mean "women's issues"?? and how do men alienate women over such issues?
With abortion for example, it's not just males who are bigoted against it. There are some females who crow their Catholic bullshit in saying how "wrong" abortion is and trying to criminalise it.
Make me a fucking sammich you ugly, broad-shouldered whore.

Funny how all respondants of DVO's cant use things like firearms for 10 years unless u have the money to get out of it - akin to a bribe.
How many UNION workers have DVO's and access to explosives onsite? funny, no audits?

THAT'S THE PROBLEM.

What's the problem? What problems has an increase in women caused? I'd be awfully interested to hear you name some.
If we were doing okay before, we'll do okay in the future. Why do you think women aren't suitable for these positions?
holly686 4 years ago
OK, to name just a few.......
• Men's rights are being diminished
• Women who think they are high and mighty find themselves jumping off cliffs and hanging themselves due to the demands causing them stress and depression (hard to explain, but you get the idea don't you?)
• Men being pushed away in favour of women

2. Provide an example, this is ridiculous.

1. Men have less rights in proportion to women these days than the 1980s
2. POLICE COMMISSIONER (high-powered position) Audrey Fagan suicided DUE TO THE STRESS! Same with that Perth newsreader chick who jumped off a cliff
3. Seems "whoever it fits best" is a woman, instead of a man THESE FUCKEN DAYS
4. There is more than one Katy Gallagher, there has been other breastfeeding point-making bitches in NSW and Victorian Parliament chambers.

Sorry Democrats, but I don't agree with this.
We do not need to elect more women to Parliament.
Abortion rights is an issue I DO AGREE WITH YOU ON!! and WILLING TO SUPPORT YOU WITH!!!
But in general, we don't need "women's issues" alienating men in the Political arena.
CanberraUser 4 years ago
Why not? Men have had no problem alienating women over "womens issues".
