these guys are not just the best re-interpreters of the genesis music, they have fortunately the right appeal for the prog music. (beards, moustaches, good faces). it is horrible seeing those amorphous guys in the tribute bands looking like "music hobbysits after the boring job"
THE WATCH is a band to keep an eye on...they not only do Genesis music PERFECT but their original music is GREAT...sounds just like early Genesis...very talented...
Guitar, keyboards, bass, percussion and the singer... WOW he's powerful and his voice is exquisite... without copy of the original version, he sounds like a free and unpredictable Gabriel on the stage... just like the real one.
@PaulHartXYZ This don't have to be a good thing. No one loves a mimic. But i have to admit that they play so fucking good and he sings good even if he mimics.
last thing, TMB are perfect cause they dedicate interily their musical life to that, this guys enjoy to play their OWN music too eheheh....and just one applause for YOUR music worth more then millions only for your recreation of someone else's song ;-)) genesis own half ovation my friends every time TMB plays, and the guys KNOW that ;-))

"Just" recreating the experience involves playing the MUSIC which is incredibly difficult to do, and I dunno how many of you are musicians yourself, but I am, and those songs are HARD and The Watch don't get them right. TMB get them right. Get the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth and shut up and just listen to TMB's versions. Compare them to Genesis bootlegs. Absolutely perfect.
I don't agree from a purely sonic standpoint. There are many differences in the dynamics and delivery of identical songs between TMB and Genesis. I thought the bass player had a very different 'feel' then Rutherford each time I'd seen them live (been about 6 now.) I love the Musical Box and what they do, but this video feels closer to the 'Heart' of Genesis, :D maybe because it's being delivered by musicians that are a bit less 'well off,' just like Genesis were when they wrote this!
And bar none, Simone's natural tone of voice is MUCH closer to a young Peter Gabriel's than Denis Gagne's. That is no longer a matter of Opinion IN MY OPINION haha
Enh. Musical Box are better, sorry. There's just being a cover band (and frankly his vocals here are one swallowed syllable after another) and then there's recreating the experience.
Fantastic! Considering that The Watch is not a Genesis Tribute band (don't know if they started out as one though), but a Genesis-influenced band - they do a way better job than most. The atmosphere of the original is all there. Yep all keyboards are 100% convincing. Nice lead guitar. Great idea to use a Stick as the bass. Drummer sounds more Phil-ish than on their original tracks and the vocalist/flutist does the best Gabriel impression ever, including 'The Musical Box' wich I saw live once.
This Band (The Watch) has to be one of THE BEST bands out there, there studio albums are deep, amazing stuff

Excellent, been playing watching and listening to Genesis for years and this is just outstanding, the sounds are authentic.
In balance, it's a crying shame that there aren't any shots of the keys in this and other videos from the same performance.
It's Saturday lunchtime; I'm off for a google session on "The Watch."
