Jeff Chandler and Kirk Douglas put on in the eye for all those Jew haters who think that all Jews are ugly. These men along with Paul Newman were sexy, masculine and cool guys.
Jeff Chandler along with men like Kirk Douglas who were Jews born in Brooklyn N.Y., truly shattered the preconceived image of the Jew as a hooked nosed, hunchedback, greedy character that so many people used to stereotype, and some still do so today unfortunately. Upart from being so hypnotically hundsome, Jeff was extremely good hearted, never hesitating to help others.
Good news for Jasmyntje 3 ! A few weeks ago I bought "The Battle at Apache Pass" in Fnack - Liège (Luik). This DVD was edited in the special edition Western de Légende. On the DVD you have both the English spoken version and the French one, so no problem ! Jeff was a good actor, remember "Broken Arrow".
I warmly recommend Marilyn Kirks biography on him. He was also a great singer, did a surprising show act in Vegas (including impersonations of guys like Bogart and Cagney) and is said to have been a very good orator in political campaigns.
I think, he really could have moved something in this world, had he lived. Far more, than he actuallly did with his movies and other lifetime achievements.
I had a chance to meet his daughter Jamie C Tucker and she was the spitting image of him. She worked with my mother at Combined Health Agencies here in San Diego. Unfortunately she died 7 years ago of breast cancer. That disease seemed to run in the family because her mom died of breast cancer and her sister died of cervical cancer. So sad :-(
chandler always gave me the impression he was a good guy...though not a particularly gifted actor, i've always enjoyed his films..particularly the westerns
"His former lover Esther Williams, in her tell-all 1999 biography, put Chandler back in the headlines after asserting that he was a cross-dresser. She told him, "Jeff, you're too big for polka dots." Esther later admitted privately that this had no basis in fact, and was made up simply to bolster interest in the book."
I thought he was amazing. Chiseled good looks. And incredibly sexy and manly. They don't make 'em like Jeff anymore. This took a lot of time and effort. Thank you so much for sharing this. You did a fantastic job putting this together. I appreciate it. Thanks, Rayevaughn P.S. I love the music, esp. the song from Evita, High Flying Adored. You've got style!!! :o)
Hi,was wondering if anyone had a copy of a movie Jeff Chandler was in with Rock Hudson called THE IRON MAN.Chandler played the part of Coke Mason a professional boxer. Havent seen it for at least 30 years. If anyone has it will gladly pay costs.please leave me an email though youtube thanks
Iremember well Jeff Chandler in Broken Arrow, Foxfire and Away all Boats. Saw these movies on Friday nights in Badger's Quay, Nfld. A gentleman(ned Andrews) from wesleyville showed em in 16 mm. I long for these good old days-how the world has changed. If you grew up in my area late 50's-early 1960's feel free to respond.
Jeff Chandler is my mom's favorite all time favorite male actor. She even got to interview him in the late 50's on Ray Moore's 11:00 News (WBS-TV) in Atlanta. A true highlight in her life.
Can anyone help please. I am sure there was a recording of him singing "If I could be with you one hour tonight". I'd love to know as he reminds me of an old boyfriend!
Hi Baz. I love Jeff Chandler and have just acquired Thunder In The Sun on DVD. I belong to a site called The Golden Age Of Hollywood and would love to have you join up.

Incredable actor, singer and impersonator, it's a pity that he lost his life due to malpractice.

He was in Hell is for heroes, a great looking guy with bags of sex appeal. He got better looking as he got older - the grey hair really suited him.

Hard to believe \Esther Williams would say that about someone who has died, just to bolser interest in her book.
What a crappy thing to do. (If that is true)

Esther Williams wasn't very nice with Mr Chandler in her biography. Even if it's true wasn't elegant of her to write what she wrote about him
