There should be more adverts on the BBC. Maybe then we wouldn't have to pay 150 odd quid for re-runs of My Family, and all other manor of shit that's on the BBC. BBC 3, for example.
@louisdm123 Haha I feel your pain man. There's no greater TV viewing pleasure than the advert-less Beeb. There used to be a time when we could get through this playlist without any ads at all, but such is the way of the Internets. This show was just so good I'm willing to be put through all of them just to enjoy those classic moments!
I want to write and I love Black Adder like everyone else does. But if I envy anything in this world it's the writing style in Yes (Prime) Minister. I want THAT ONE!
If Black Adder was the product of vocal, know-it-all Oxbridge drama geeks with a fetish for Python then Yes Minister was the opus of the snidest, spectacle-lowering dining-room-discussion gymnast the world's ears have ever been leant forward and pleasured by. No homo.
These videos are delightful ! and should be included as part of school curiculum so that our children can learn the most inportant thing about education. Keep a sense of humor!
I remember discussing Yes Minister as part of my politics A level. May even have watched a show. You can learn a great deal about British politics, even 20 years later!
I've seen this epsiode - as usual, incredibly biting and funny. Satire is one of the finest genres, and the British have it down pat; the US needs political satire this brainy, brawny, and piercing.
I love those two shows to pieces, and think they're invaluable; that said, I think a biting political satire freed from the news show format would find its place and be every bit as critical and refreshing.

@Maino88 You'd get the same shit, and you'd have to sit through adverts too. If you don't believe me, check the quality of Sky television channels.

louisdm123 9 months ago
@louisdm123 Because it's been uploaded onto YouTube by BBC Worldwide which is the commercial arm of the Beeb.

Although this is a comedy scene, it actually reminds us of some very difficult situation one can potentially encounter in real life.
Suppose you are a director of a publicly traded company and you find a very good friend of yours inside the company involved in some fraud.
It is not an easy task to resolve the situation.

This is almost Gilbert and Sullivan-esque. Lord High Everything-else indeed.

John Fortune looks so young here! I'm use to seeing him 30 years on Bremner, Bird and Fortune.

John Fortune looks rather like Tony Benn in this one....

This is still one of the best shows ever made. It's as accurate today as it was 25 years ago. It's an absolute must to watch.

@jehushaphat It lasted three seasons, and there's the continuation "Yes, Prime Minister" which lasted another two. Agree, the show is great.

ABSOLUTELY no match.
Black Adder was based on silly farce and crude jokes.
Yes Minister was as witty as hell on the other hand.

That would be delightful... perhaps a kind of non-drama West Wing? I'd watch.
