I had the good fortune to see Vern at the New River Valley Fair in 1992.Missed him in Lynchburg,VA,figured hed be back, but his health took a turn. There'll never be a voice like his again!!!!
If anyone has the album of Vern Gosdin, You've Got Somebody, recorded in 1979, can you please post some songs from it. Some were "You've Got Somebody, I've Got Somebody", "Til I'm Over Getting Over You", "I Took It Like A Man, Cried Like A Baby"," All I Want And Need Forever", "Sarah's Eyes." Thanks for posting.
when vern had the right ballad it sang it better than anyone....no one of the so called new country could come close...they mid as well call them selfs rock or crap..vern was great
Today`s country singer song writters think the audiences are Stupid they attempt to tell a life story over and over detaIL PER DETAIL ; Old country tells it in just a few words and "Gets er done" and moves on ! A great story teller makes you feel it not Hear it !
There are so many excellent live recordings of the late Vern Gosdin that were filmed for various television programs. We need to find and encourage a record label to release these historic recordings. These would make perfect live albums. It's unfair that Michael Jackson has dozens of official and unofficial live recordings, yet Vern is overlooked because his music is country.
this is my absolute favorite by Vern...been listening to him for a long time and he will be sorely missed RIP :( such a great man and that voice...my god just gives me chills everytime i come back and listen
WOW! Just think of the concert that good Lord has every day with the likes of Twitty, Cash, Presley, Gosdin, West, Wynette, Paycheck, just to name a few.
you know, all these new "country" singers think the are the best thing to ever hit "country music". well in my own opinion and hopefully most if not all of yalls, they should go back and listen to Tom T hall or Waylon jennings, Hank Sr, Mr Vern Gosdin, Randy Travis, Keith Whitley, Mr. George Jones, And Johnny Cash. Had dinner with Vern one night in Nashville. I have to say he was crazy fun. A real character. We all sat in the restaurant with menus on our heads like tents. It was a Japanese restaurant and one of the guys hid the giant bowl of rice and threw the waitress off. They talked about stealing the shoes of the people sitting at the table next to us. It was a great nice and Vern was one funny guy.
My family and I will always love Vern's music. Picture this- a week of golf, chicken wings, billiards, dive bars, country music, in a place that we call home (Elyria Ohio). We did it for about 10yrs (1984-94)...and Vern played a significant role. Thanks!
Thank the Opry for pissin on the greats and Nashville radio that silenced Gosdin,Cash,Haggard,Jones,Jennings and many more in 1980's so they could change true country music to pop country. {bigger crouds} Nashville ran bluegrass off in the 50's same way. Everytime I hear todays pop country on a radio I turn it off. I dont listen to that Trashville musuck of today. Nashville only cares about money, not good music and they forgot who put them on the map yrs ago. Kiss my ass Nashville!

My all time Vern Gosdin song. Brad does an awesome job also. I,ve started covering the song with my band & solo shows & get a great responce from it. Tons of new country fans have never heard it. Vern was a great artist. We all miss him & his music. I,ll post my cover soon I hope.

Im sure its still on is web site.....Very Nice man usuallly charges 5000 night charged my mom 2500
I always listen to this song when I think of my best friend Tina, I laid her to rest today. I will love you and miss you forever .God keep you until I see you again.
It is raining at my house since you went away SAF..I love you.. can't you see...it has been a long time and I still hurt today like the day that you drove away...I am needing you. Great song!
When Vern sings I believe he went through it. I believe the story. Very few singers have ever sold a song to me like Vern. When I turn on the radio today I ask myself is there anyone even close to his talent? I think not
Brad Paisley did a cover of this song ... does it almost as good as Vern but you're right ... there ain't another Vern out there anywhere ... men like this only come around once.
Vern is one of the best Country singers of all time. When you hear him sing , there is no doubt who's behind the voice. He will be missed by all fans that love real Country Music.
Some years ago, my wife and I, along with our two small daughters, had the pleasure of attending Mr. Gosdin's concert at OpryLand one night. After the show, which was outstanding, we were waiting for the crowd to clear, since we had to carry our daughters out. I couldn't understand why the crowd was moving so slowly, until we got outside the pavilion, and found Mr. Gosdin mingling with the crowd, shaking hands and thanking the folks for coming. A good man, and a Great American!
He helped me through many nights when no one was around but heartache. His voice and his songs that is and that was more than enough for a broken hearted boy from nowhere.
This is what real music is about. Vern Gosdin sang with feeling and emotion because he lived it. Pure raw talent and feelings. come on I wondered if it was raining at her house. We all have. That' s what makes it so damn great.
Man, my good buddy the voice, Vern!! I still remember one day, I knocked on his door and he wasn't expecting me, needless to see he came to the door with a 45. Lol. Rest i peace Vern. Thanks for the reall country music!!! Because it has gone to hell in a hand bag today!!! Thanks!!!!!!
So sad to know that a voice like this is silenced, but Heaven must rejoicing to have another great one for the choir. You will truly be missed Vern;Rest In Peace!
Oh so right you are. The newbies that think they re the stuff should go back and listen and watch. THey could learn alot from Gosdin, Harggard, Jones, Twitty, Nelson, Jennings and Watson. They did it so well.
@starr522 You have to remember, Garth Brooks and the hat acts killed the popularity of traditional country music like Vern Gosdin. The hat acts played modern country, which is basically bad rock n roll. Sadly, country never healed from the damages caused by Garth. New country songs are either copies of 80s hair band power ballads or recycled bonehead southern rock songs. Modern country is white trash garbage. Vern Gosdin is REAL country.
What an awesome song... I thought it was good when I heard the Paisley cover of it, but this is amazing. I fully understand why he was called "the voice"!! There will be no one like him.
We would like to thank Vern's family of Fans for all the great support. It's been a very hard week for everyone here in Nashville and of course for his family down in Alabama.
May peace find each and everyone of you. Do not put off 'till tomorrow what your heart tells you to do today.
Listened to Vern on here last night like I do most nites. My girlfriend comes home this afternoon with his G/H cd. Plugged it in and got on here to check on some things and found out he passed away at midnite last nite. Asked her why she, out of the blue, bought me the cd and she said she just was thinking about his smooth voice and decided to pick it up. Now that is just wierd/spooky to say the least. R.I.P Vern and keep hitting those licks. We are slowly loosing the real country singers.
My beautiful wife has been gone almost a year now, and the rain and the pain hasn't stopped yet !!! The home we made now feels like an empty cave, cold and dark. I miss you Babe, and will always love you!! Forever and them some !!
I had the good fortune to see Vern at the New River Valley Fair in 1992.Missed him in Lynchburg,VA,figured hed be back, but his health took a turn. There'll never be a voice like his again!!!!

When Vern sings I believe he went through it. I believe the story. Very few singers have ever sold a song to me like Vern. When I turn on the radio today I ask myself is there anyone even close to his talent? I think not
asher1112 2 years ago 2

Can't nobody sing it like Vern sang it, they don't come this good anymore.
mankind2112 2 years ago 2
Oh so right you are. The newbies that think they re the stuff should go back and listen and watch. THey could learn alot from Gosdin, Harggard, Jones, Twitty, Nelson, Jennings and Watson. They did it so well.

@starr522 You know, we have singers like that in Mark Chestnut, Gary Allen and several others but todays Radio Stations wont play them

stevewm1963 1 year ago
@starr522 You have to remember, Garth Brooks and the hat acts killed the popularity of traditional country music like Vern Gosdin. The hat acts played modern country, which is basically bad rock n roll. Sadly, country never healed from the damages caused by Garth. New country songs are either copies of 80s hair band power ballads or recycled bonehead southern rock songs. Modern country is white trash garbage. Vern Gosdin is REAL country.
