  • This would make the scariest porn ever.

  • next step.... holograms :3

  • What's wrong with our eyes?

  • Seems good for Statistical Business Math Programs PowerPoint and can Render Faces Tessellated, is this API good For AutoCad too? Seems it would Run Well with a Cyrix Proccessor x2 operations maybe? Rick Bergman funding SpyBot Search & Destroy 2.0 Beta? Norton Antivirus has Iron Man vs. War Machine issues ,whose your starting commanding officer maybe? Not Sure which Box Art to Buy or Poster Art?

  • It uses the same model for each of the asians, because spot the difference

  • future of gaming? real environments?

  • LAWNMOWER MAN!

  • but why show ugly people?

  • This looks like something from Total Recall

  • like if your watching in 2040 and loling.

  • asians...

  • LEVEL ASIAN

  • now using Kinect XDDDD

  • Comment removed

  • Hmmm perhaps better results with plenoptic lensed cameras..they could use much faster algorithms.

  • fusion methods are now being used.. using more then one technique and combining them.

You could use like a Time of flight to optimize this reducing some of the calculations.

People may find the kinectfusion interesting.

    watch?v=UpP1pDlODlc

  • They should have more cameras and something not so laggy

  • LAGGGG

  • You can create 3D models much faster like that, but it will still only produce a flat texture of video. you would still require to put in eyes, mouth and teeth in order to script it better.

  • Fascinating, I can imagine how this will help autonomous robotics to navigate!

  • if a gpu can have thousands of cores why not ake a os that runs off the gpu

  • @BassPounderX Because GPUs are specialist hardware. They're meant to do certain types of operations--the ones needed in graphics processing--very quickly, but they're not general purpose. You can't just run arbitrary programs on them. In particular, they CAN have thousands of (relatively weak) cores because each operation can be done without talking to another core (ie, a core handles a single pixel)... with most programs you don't have that luxury.

  • @imorriso1 but what m saying is why dont they include some sort of instrucion set that can efficiently run within the gpu or work on a cpu with a high amount of cores that can be bought by consumers for a fair price

  • @BassPounderX It's already possible--if you're clever--to use the GPU for non-graphics tasks, if that's what you're asking. An OS, however, is not involved with the sort of operations that benefit from that. After a certain point, more cores can actually slow down your programs.

  • @imorriso1 i know what ur saying but im sure it will be possible in the future

  • @imorriso1 Yes they are general purpose.. One need think very differently to program for them though. You program them with C++ CUDA, OpenACC, opencl, ..ext there are many function programmers got used to that are not available though.

perf per watt and perf per $ can't be ignored.

The next big thing will be the fusion of serial and parallel in asymmetrical processors. Nvidia and Microsoft are working in that direction, and with AMD's new graphics core + fusion.

  • can't see any application for this except for in larger devices such as in, for example, TVs. It will never be possible to shrink it down and incorporate it into a phone though, because the cameras have to be so far apart for this to work (as they need to see the sides of your face). In fact, you'd even need an exeptionally large TV for it to be possible. So at the moment, I don't see how this can be used smoothly. Great advance though, can't wait to see where it leads!

  • My 3DFX Voodoo 5500 AGP can run this at 120 FPS

  • @anarkia1ces where did you get this program then?

  • HOLAGRAMS ARE COMING!

  • I'll believe anything a British person says.

  • starwars technology is reaching us

  • @fedehidalgo Nerd

  • @goomee3d proudly haha ... or sadly?

  • @goomee3d Well, like Dr. Michio Kaku, I am a futurist and would fancy awesome technology, but I have a feeling you are the typical nerd, there is a world currently outside of Star Wars, and Japan, I am not sure if you have noticed, that's all :)

  • i see the future!!!!

  • Its about time we got to make our own expression as main characters in Role Playing Games like Mass Effect. You know what I mean.

  • the VR near

  • Thank you Japan for contributing to the Big Brother problem. I thought USA was the biggest incarceration country but with this jump in facial recognition tech all countries can now have their citizens afraid to go outside.

  • @Amiga3000 Why would you be afraid to go outside?

  • @sen3d People in England can't go outside with out being videotaped. people in China can't have a conversation on the net with out their info being handed over to their goverment. To a much lesser extent there roads I don't travel on any more because of photo enforcement. and this is just another tool that's going to be used against it's citizens.

  • @Amiga3000 What for? And why should the government be against it's citizens? What purpose would it serve?

  • If its not on mac its not worth it :P

  • @iWinterHD if its on a mac its too expensive

  • @OFP1Painkiller man now i have to find my comment... lol

  • House of cards...? Anyone...?

  • You could get a better effect by just looking in the mirror :P

  • Pointu Cloudu

  • not impressed.

This is really dumb method to use for face-recognition.

Voxelizing face, so what? you can do just as good with a 2d image.

  • @VladCPP It's a lot easier for a computer to tell people apart when it can understand the actual 3D shape of a person's face. A 2D image works sometimes, but this provides more useful information.

  • Fook you whale and dolphin!!!!!!!

  • holograms are 1 step closer.

  • Kinect is 1000 times more futuristic :P

  • @webDes33 no.

  • there is a missing layer of software(Object learning)... Making a high resolution composite of the many frames of data. With the high data set you could interpolate more detail and fill in holes.

This system will work in bright daylight and is less twitchy then kinect, but other then that? Kinect is also missing the same software.

  • here is

    temporal smoothing

    face geometry reconstruction.

    watch?v=UXC5wQU41MU

  • @1Eyesack1 you are fucking retarded. Kinect cant do nothing like that.

  • Kinect can recognize faces and it can make a 3d video using 2 or more kinects. it does the same

    im not 12 im 16

  • You can do the same thing with kinect and it looks better

also you see those black dots in the guys face , if a niggu uses it, it would be HD

  • @1EyeSack1 you are so stupid, just stfu. kinect is shit. there is a reason why this tech is using 5-6 camera you dumb idiot.

  • @ssj04 Kinect can do the same

    see kinect hacks

  • @1EyeSack1 i seen all of kinect hacks already and its shit. if you are impressed by those hacks than you must be 12 year old or around 12.

  • Tohto C-Tech 3D Face reproduction - 9000$

    Kinect - 149$ from walmart

  • Virtual Reality, IA, Cyborgs, Nanotechnology, 3D, Holograms, Android, Kinetic...the future is just right now!!!

  • Muchos éxitos !

  • too late..kinect is here..lol

  • kinect does this shit better

  • @qpmkro was thinking the same thing

  • Japan = Hi-tech kingdom

    China = Copycat continent

  • @Carwell China has some badass technology for spying on their own people :) the world's best censorship system that monitors the entire country's computers that are connected to the internet.

  • @tp4nime

I know,,,,,,,,,,,,, I had seen this horrible thing in front of my eyes some years ago.

  • @Carwell but they do it by themselves. Can you just sit in the evening and make your own tablet pc from notebook mobo? They can. So shut up

  • @Carwell USA = porn

  • @Carwell You've got the right point :D

  • That is such an incredibly retarded generalization. You, sir, are stupid if you really believe that and intellectually dishonest if you don’t.

  • @Carwell

you got it a bit wrong.

Europe/America = Real brains behind the scientific technology and invention

Japan = good copiers of European/American scientific invention

China = copy American/European science a bit more than Japan do

  • @MustNotRead u got it wrong too bro.

Indian people in america: the real brain behind all the innovation n technical advancement in europe n america. (genrally but the whole world for that matter..)

n then america sells the acctual india made technology to indians at a higher price.. such tom prudery !!

  • @harshdoshi18

lol, yeah, because my theory text books, wikipedia and the history of inventors is littered with names of Indian inventors.

I think you're living in a fantasy world.

  • @MustNotRead not to sound racist but it is kind of true.. its because white people are the most creative/inventive race and asains brains are more mathematically based, white people usually come up with the ideas asains perfect them

  • @auchucknorris

well, they are indeed "good at" practical mathematics (ie: 2+2 = 4) and carrying out predetermined sequences of operations. but they are not good at all areas of mathematics. there are many areas of math which require creativity - purely theoretical mathematics.

they basically are very good at copying what we define for them.

  • @MustNotRead which is why all the great mathematically based experimental physics leaps are mainly made by white people lol, hard to not sound racist but its like one of the things thats kinda true for race.. like black people will always own at basketball... they just do

  • @auchucknorris

That's pretty much correct. And it's not racism - it's just fact which can be proven with evidence.

  • @MustNotRead your evidence is ratially biased as science has been used to define bigotry for many years, see nazi's (and any scientist who claims superiority is somehow genetically based) and for someone like me who has a degree in neuroscience from the university of washington, who is a leader in the field, that both you and chuck norris haven't the faintest clue how the human brain functions biologically and are horribly confusing sociology's worst errors with basic science

  • @MrKingpeng

No, my evidence is based on the names and people who have _invented_ the technology. I do not see names such as "Ying" and "Yang" credited in _any_ field of science.

And, btw, I have a degree too. A degree in CS and I have studied a fair amount of neuro-science, human behaviour and rational logic due to my professional interest in Artificial Intelligence. Degrees are not "special" here in the West, they're commonplace.

  • Japan is the forerunner in terms of hi-tech inventions !!!!!!!!

Diginfonews is also my daily must- see & must-check site !!!!!!!!

  • photoshop is better lol

  • max headroom anyone?

  • I really wonder how this compares to the Kinect.

  • looks like the guys at japan saw the kinect video on youtube

  • OMG, TOTAL CONTROL like in movies about Future is COMING!!!

  • in the future, people will just say " wow, so this is what 3d looked back then..'

  • holograms are just around the corner!

  • You mean u guys realized how to use nVidia CUDA ? :D

  • The same thing was done by the kinnect (hacked version)

  • @thundergod221 When and by who????

  • @pkiriakou watch?v=5-w7UXCAUJE by him :)

  • Japan is a country of Science and Innovation ..... But for some reason even though they are really good at this stuff, yet they are not anywhere near rich....If they were.....We might be living in space colonies right now haaha

  • @SlowRkers Japan, not anywhere near rich!?...hmmm....

  • @SlowRkers

Japan bailed America out of a lot of bad shit when the economy crashed.

  • @SlowRkers

Lol, japan is one of the most richest countries.

  • @SlowRkers Shockingly Japan has very few things to say in the information industry.Inside a toyota, a PS3 or even the Asimo is an IBM central processing unit. The same IBM it's inside the chevrolet, bmw, xbox, to save costs. The market decides how smart you are, where you live, not the japanese. What you see here, voxels, gpgpu and nvidia hardware were all developed outside Japan. The japanese will play the game if it brings revenue wich is the really smart way to play.

  • @SlowRkers

Advances in science and technology will come from all countries.

USA is light years ahead of japan when it come to technology. It is just that japan is focused on certain types of technology.

Were as the EU and USA have different objectives.

  • @bighands69 I suggest you to get informed: WIPO patents difference between the US and Japan (which country is far from which?). And I also suggest you to research about your military technology in the US, another surprise is coming.

  • @SlowRkers I agree with you.

  • @SlowRkers yeah

  • @SlowRkers Agree with u. Unfortunatly they are smell powerless and an island.

  • @SlowRkers thats because they are the most wise of all nations bitch , you can find that in the Bible

  • @2PacsFatherFOOTBALL Eh Fucktard, if you haven't realize, i was praising that country.

  • @SlowRkers troll :)

  • @SlowRkers Japan is one of the richest countries on earth :-/

  • @Festivejelly , japan GPD 200%

  • @Festivejelly where drift started

  • @Festivejelly

Richest as in, furthest in debt.

  • @Festivejelly

Actually, they are not. Japan just works as some of the most efficient.

  • @Festivejelly Thats not true :T Japan is one of the most populated places on earth per square kilometer, the richest countries are The Netherlands, and Norwich

  • @psychoscout1 The Netherlands is a tiny country and while it has a high GDP per capita. Its total GDP is a drop in the Ocean compared to Japan. The Netherlands doesnt even break a trillion dollars, where as Japan surpasses 5. So where as per person the Netherlands is "richer" this is usually due to inconsitancy because it has such a small population. Excluding people earning more than 1 million dollars Japans average wage is higher.

  • @Festivejelly

How's that depression, inflation, and crumbling economy that has been in decline for over 2 decades?

  • @SlowRkers they have a good economy as a country ....

  • @SlowRkers

Japan, is known for improving European and American products, we allow Japanese to commercialize our inventions, the TV is not Japanese, The Mobile Phone is not Japanese, the GPU is not Japanese the CAR is not Japanese the Engines not Japanese, etc

the only reason people don't like Chinese because they mass produce faulty products that break down, while the Japanese like the Chinese mass produce western products but more towards our standards.

  • @SlowRkers

    just like to point out,

"The first observations of electroluminescence in organic materials were in the early 1950s by A. Bernanose and co-workers at the Nancy-Université, France"

today Samsung is mass producing OLED because of European work.

Asia is the Manufacturing city of the Europeans and Americans, we invent Asia gets to build it. thats how it works.

  • @SlowRkers japan actual has a staple economy and they actualy spend money in research

  • @goldboyjr asshole

  • @mycrickethighlights2 Haha! next time beatch!!!:D

  • @goldboyjr :D
