stem cells can be found in the bone marrow and fat cells of normal living people as well as in ubilical chords of newborn babies (the part that is usually thrown away) so why not harvest those cells from people? Why the focus on Embriotic stem cells? The others are not be as "prime", but there is evidence that they work just as good and without the controversy. There is an agenda here and we see where it leads. My own mother had a stroke and now is bed ridden, but embriotic stem is wrong.

@Keepmovin2000 might I also add that my mother recieved hyperbaric oxygen treatments which induces the body to release at least 25 % more stem cells from the bone marrow for a period of a few hours...once released, they move through the body to find places of injury and heal it. There is also a youtube video of a woman whose insurance allowed her to get a liposuction and use machines to remove stem cells from fat and reinject her (stroke victim). Embriotic stem cells are not needed.

Quit blaming religion. I am a Christian and being educated has helped me make a decision to support stem cell research. Keep religion out of it. There are more things in this world that get impeded by ideals that are not from religion then things that are. I doubt you would never post with a rejection statement about something you cant blame religion for? I would be against stem cell research if it were purely for the sake of science and knowledge. But if done so to help human beings and in the long run animals as well, I am more than willing to negotiate. Personally, as a Muslim, I have no problem with the use of step cells in research rather it is the mice sacrifice that bothered me. As such, I strongly feel that the reason behind the research is fundamental and deserves attention. In this case, I would support stem cell research.

A few stories have been released recently saying the first person to live 150 years has alrady been born and 50 years after that people may live to 1,000 and beyond by use of cell therapy. Embryonic stem cell research has only held empty promises for years now. Germany, where Embryonic stem cell research is banned, has cured a man of HIV using adult stem cell therapy. We have been waiting for so long to hear of anything like that from Embryonic stem (ES) cells, but all we get is "just a couple years, it's coming", then the years drag on, and they give us next to nothing, world-wide.

We just are supposed to have 'faith' that ES cells will come up with some cure.

The main difference between the Lorenzos Oil approach is these people are educated persons (unlike bush and his religious nuts or those who developed the oil), and are conducting a scientific approach in devising the a proper method of developing a means of fixing the spinal cord and possibly the brain cells using stem cell research.
