wow thats amazing my cats name is Orion also!! and she actually looks a lot like your cat shes an oriental shorthair. i thot i was the only one in the world to name my cat that!
@cB8209 Nice. Cool to see that you've got a cute cat clapping video as well. An abyssinian, no less. However, Orion is a firm atheist so there's no praying going on here.
Yes, that shoulder move is something all of our Abys have done. I can't tell you how many guests in our home have been the victim of an unsolicited jump. We just refer to them as fur collars and walk around the house with them perched on us!
Aby's are great cats. Please check Abyssinian cat rescues first. There are many that need forever homes. Please don't buy from breeders when there are so many wonderful Aby's in rescues. I have adopted 2 Aby's from shelters and we LOVE them!
Our Aby loves to jump up and balance on top of the door jamb. It's the funniest thing we've ever seen!
@MinsterRogers Actually there's no hand signals or training involved. I'm not doing anything other than holding a camera and making eye contact with him. He's simply done the clappy move since he was little, and the shoulder jump move, well, that's just Abyssinian behavior.
@simon6115 ok thanks. amazing that this vid hasnt got a million views. you should change the title to 'cat that claps its hands' or something. this vid should have at least 1million views.
@MinsterRogers No they don't shed that much. I'd say average for short hair. It's managable, but probably not if you are allergic etc. Abyssinians are incredibly intelligent and love learning tricks and predicting your actions. Most importantly, they are very active and require a lot of attention. If you're looking for a calm, lazy cat, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a playful, highly affectionate cat, get an Aby.
What a beautiful abyssinian. I had one myelf and they are definitely a class by themselves. Did you train Orion to do the clappy dance or did he learn it on his own? I also see that he is a shoulder rider - mine (Paco) was, too. Love your video.
Yelle and an Aby? Automatic loves for the vid.

My neighbor's dog does that. That's how he begs for attention whether if its his owners or guests.

perhaps all cats are different, but for our cat its a form of begging, done whenever something is wanted.
done at you means pick me up. done towards the fridge or bowl means feed me. done towards door means open it.

Bwaha! I LIKE the ending where the cat leaps up and over the camera! :D
Our Abyssinian "Thor" also does that peculiar thing with his front paws. I guess to some extent that comes with the breed :)

di0519 3 years ago 5
he learned the clappy move on his own, no training. I think it's an extension of 'kneeding' which most cats do.
simon6115 2 years ago
if my cat simon could do that i'd form a band and give him tiny symbols!!!
