I researched this video and its actually a engine used to render this video in real time.. something unheard of a few years ago back when the PS3 and Xbox 360 first came out. I believe this will be one of the many new engines that will be implemented in the next consoles and as technology advances the engines will only improve. I just hope I live long enough to see the Xbox 720 and PS4.

Consoles graphics have been trying to beat PC, PC graphics have already been at Xbox 360 and PS3 level for a while, and continues to surpass them. Why you think PC has Gears of War 1 2 3, Sims games, Call of Duty games , and some others. PC grahics will always update, Consoles have to have a whole new console created just to be update with graphics, you can just upgrade your PC.

1). XB360 controllers are considered proprietary devices in vista and windows 7. In addition to that, you can run pretty much any controller from any generation with the right converter and software.
2). Who really needs a controller for anything FPS related when you can use a good ol keyboard and mouse? All the rest can be run on an Xbox 360 controller.
3). You can build a fairly modern and beastly computer for around 450 dollars. And, the life you get from it is about the same time frame as a console.
4). Console graphics are NOT better as they get older. They hit the max of the hardware capabilities and give you the illusion it looks better. For instance, Doom 3 came out on Xbox and PC. The Xbox version had to have some of the more graphics intensive features found in the PC version removed to meet the much lower Xbox System Requirements. Also, Games like Crysis have just now been ported to PS3 and Xbox360 due to the map size issues encountered in those games.
5). Xbox360 due to the lack of a Blu Ray Device or HDDVD player is looking towards storing game images on a built in HDD, Sony is also looking into this, and does this for many games. Nintendo has the virtual console, and various downloadable games. Also, Both Sony and Mircrosoft have their own download centers built into the firmware.
6). If you are an idiot, yes consoles are harder to setup than PC's. It takes a bit of patience and reading directions.
Also, any games for windows titles should be compatible with an Xbox360 controller. Before you speak, please do a bit of reading first and try to avoid bias. Here is the number one con for PC Gaming.
1). Sloppy development cycle regarding porting or designing games around Windows architecture.
2). Hardware conflicts related to Video Cards, Sound Cards, Etc.
3). Problems running newer games with larger memory footprints. This requires as a base minimum a 64 Bit OS.

Actually PC parts are oversized because they are modular - they need to work within a standardized system across computers with different specifications, and each part is self contained. With some clever engineering, consoles can be designed to be much smaller than their PC counterparts because they have only one uniform set of parts that the power and heat dissipation requirements are known for. This holds true to how the software is written as well.
Even though it uses "in game" graphics, don't expect it to look this good when the gameplay is in progress. Even in game graphics look loads better when used in a cutscene.
Whoever made this vid is ignorant and is misleading everyone. This real time tech demo is accomplished with 3 gtx 580 GPUs in tri sli which means it's using 4.5 gigs of VRAM and 1536 processing cores at 1500 MHz. sry to disappoint but nex gen console graphics will not even come close to this as they will have about 1/10 the processing power needed to run this tech demo

@Bodchubbz I really hope not. Even your current pc games uses 1.5 gb for maximum settings and that alone is holding back developers from using more because of the consoles. So 2GB of ram isn't even considered slightly higher than current gen pc games. I'm hoping for at least 4GB of ram for next gen consoles. If it's 2GB for both consoles, I'll just stick to the PC.

This is right on the money IMO. As we have seen in the past as we come ever closer to the next gen console gaming, what's happening in high end PC's now, you get in the consoles in the next gen. UT3 engine with directx 11 (or console equivalent) is likely to be representative of what next gen console gaming will debut with. Hardware tessellation, 3D, AA and bloom will likely find their way into these new consoles. Unless they pull a Wii that is.

@nukeclears when the Ps3 first came out back in 2007 it was slightly better than Pc, and after a few months later the Pc became better than the Ps3, so i believe it will be the same again.. when the Ps4 arrives it will be slightly better than the Pc and yes i know after a month or 2 the Pc will over come the Ps4 like it did with the Ps3 but oh well lol

Actually PC parts are oversized because they are modular - they need to work within a standardized system across computers with different specifications, and each part is self contained. With some clever engineering, consoles can be designed to be much smaller than their PC counterparts because they have only one uniform set of parts that the power and heat dissipation requirements are known for. This holds true to how the software is written as well.

Whoever made this vid is ignorant and is misleading everyone. This real time tech demo is accomplished with 3 gtx 580 GPUs in tri sli which means it's using 4.5 gigs of VRAM and 1536 processing cores at 1500 MHz. sry to disappoint but nex gen console graphics will not even come close to this as they will have about 1/10 the processing power needed to run this tech demo

@Bodchubbz I really hope not. Even your current pc games uses 1.5 gb for maximum settings and that alone is holding back developers from using more because of the consoles. So 2GB of ram isn't even considered slightly higher than current gen pc games. I'm hoping for at least 4GB of ram for next gen consoles. If it's 2GB for both consoles, I'll just stick to the PC.

looks good hopefully next wave of consoles use 8xAA or 16 and not just x2 or 4 with adaptive which was available for pc users 10 years ago, consoles are always about 5 years behind top end pcs get a pc if youre hardcore play at 2560x1600. all new games would look like this 5 years ago if developers werent held back by the restrictions of consoles cpu and gpu

lol even next gen consoles that will come out in 2013 cant have those graphics this demo is made with 3 580 gtx one cost today between 350 to 500 bucks and each one is around 6 time more powerfull than the custom 7900 gtx the ps3 have,unless u are ready to pay 850$ minimum for a console

This is right on the money IMO. As we have seen in the past as we come ever closer to the next gen console gaming, what's happening in high end PC's now, you get in the consoles in the next gen. UT3 engine with directx 11 (or console equivalent) is likely to be representative of what next gen console gaming will debut with. Hardware tessellation, 3D, AA and bloom will likely find their way into these new consoles. Unless they pull a Wii that is.
