Pre-CGI are still the best. Innovation isn't always better. Like microchipping you're dog. No thank u. That's creepy. Next thing u kno, we'll be forcing it on people and then u can't run or hide from gov.
Exactly, you look at the enterprise in these older movies and it looks like it actually has some dimension to it, it's looks real. Unlike in the newer films where it just looks one dimensional and cartoonish.
This movie was rated G? I thought it was rated PG because of they used colorful metaphors in it like 16 times and I felt that The Wrath Of Khan should've been rated R because of the intensity and gore which was my favorite trek of them all. I'll have to check my Star Trek library collection and check the rating on the first one.
I remember when this came out. G rated movies with kids was un cool. But all the kids loved this movie, so they all went arownd telling everyone it was PG. LOL. I wanted to prove them wrong but my family had no VCR to record the adds.
this is a shame, the advert makes the movie look like an action packed sort of movie, which it should have been, instead of being a copy of 2001: an space odysee.
did you know that 2001 had the biggist speacil effects budget in motion picture history. you can tell can't you.
i think that ST:TMP was interesting and the visual effects were nothing short of amazing. but it's the wrong style of movie, star trek is a diffrent style 2001 a space odysee. i think star trek II got it perfectly right.
action, sci-fi with clever bit of politics. and a lupy 80's hair style villian.
Interesting. Us Americans would probably be as confused as you were. lol
Originally, PG was GP. PG-13 was created for movies in a gray area where the movies were somewhere between PG and R rated movies. NC-17 replaced the rating X (adult entertainment, if you get my meaning).
Don't you love how you can learn stuff about other countries on a site like this? lol

2001: A Space Odyssey is much better than any action packed sci-fi movie. ST:TMP is quite well-made and interesting.

yeah 2001 was a fantastic movie.

Nope, it was G alright. I remember... reeemember...

The director's cut was PG, boy Star Trek II was a sharp comparison considering it was so dark and violent.
desotowright 4 years ago
you think your confuesed, i don't even know what "G" is.
LTstudios 4 years ago
it means General Audiences - that means that a movie's suitable for all ages
malikscifi92 3 years ago
oh right, this is the american rating. thats why i'm confused. in england it's a U. universal, to a universal audience.
LTstudios 3 years ago
I know you posted this a year ago. But, I wanted to help out a little just in case you come up with more US movie ratings.
NR -- Not Rated
G -- General Audiences
PG -- Parental Guidance Suggested
PG-13 -- Parents Strongly Cautioned (Material may not be suitable for children under 13
R -- Restricted (Nobody under 17 allowed without parent/guardian)
NC-17 -- No children under 17 allowed.

Lol, yea. I think PG here was once called a G rating. An our X rating has changed to 18 as well.

LTstudios:
Thanks.
Americans tend to forget that not everyone uses the same standards, ratings, measures, etc., that we Yanks do.
knoxvilleguy2 2 years ago
back then G PG and R where much more loosely interpreted.
Falcon5768 4 years ago
And PG was GP. I've seen the trailer for Love at First Bite on a video I own about vampires on the silver screen, and they said it was rated GP.
