  • Shit even with a good sword it be too scared to try n cut wood... might just as well end up sticking in your forehead, splitting your brain in half.

  • Real Swords are made of carbon steel, so I'd recommend staying away from stainless or spring steel if you want it to perform correctly (and if you don't want it to snap and stab you in the eye)

  • @Lejundairy *facepalm* I just realized that you're the guys who made the website I learned that from

  • @Lejundairy

You have no idea how steel works.

9260 spring steel is 2% silicon and the rest is STEEL (9260 having to do with the alloy composition).

It's less likely to snap than any other steel, hence the name SPRING steel.

The most commonly used stainless steel alloys have around 14% impurities by comparison, most of which make it more brittle, not less.

And then there's holding an edge, which would take another 500 words to explain.

  • For anyone who doesn't know why he is using it on a block of wood: 1.ITS HIS JOB.

    2. He is TESTING the new 9260 Silicon Alloy Steel of Cheness

    3. He can give an accurate review because of his experience in kata which includes but is not limited to YEARS of experience in competitions.

    4. He wants us to know how reliable this new steel is. IN A LATER VIDEO HE USES IT ON STEEL RODS. IT TAKES BITES OUT OF THE STEEL RODS.

  • Douche bag's THIS IS A TEST, a part of a review of a mass produced product! Not anything really disgraceful.

  • the ki also covers any unwanted sounds that may distract you such as a bone breakeing. it is also used tfor your mental focus of above reason also.

  • DISGRACEFUL!!!!!

  • @clintredpill410 How? Its a destruction test. Lets see any other katana made of a different material do that.

  • nice swing, tubby

  • @5hinkuro picking at someones looks? How petty can you be?

  • @Walkerofdeepsleep yes, we all care what you have to say

  • why do you have a sword

  • @andrewlee332 because he's a qualified practitioner of kata who has won multiple awards. he also runs a site to help people learn and buy good swords.

  • the purpose of a katana is not to cut/chop, but to slice. the full blade of the katana is not meant to be used, only the first 4" of the tip is meant to be used as a weapon with a slicing motion towards the target it was wielded against. if used in this manor or hollywood style fighting with blade against blade, there runs a very high risk of the katana breaking, its not a bashing tool...

  • What an idiot, you don't cut a wood block in half with a sword

  • the strength comes from the techniqe you sir got none

  • Fail!

  • Lmao the guy is white and said some asain shit

  • why did u yell

  • @TheCitrusdude yelling or ki'ing when striking an opponent in the martial arts is what is said to aid focusing your strength (inner ki/chi) into your blow, also intending to tighten your own muscles for possible strikes.

  • @DJxSkEpTiC lol actually all it does it make u use proper breathing technique many professional martial artists especially European and American ones just release a focused breath of air amazingly it works just as well as chi channeling aka yelling

if i remember correctly most braking records are held by American so both techniques work u don't have to yell if it makes u feel like an idiot

  • @TheMedievalMan lol still doesnt maked sense

  • It's a samurai sword, not an axe, show some respect!

  • This is why we Invented the Axe Idiot...

  • ok ok ok... i have no idea why this was on my suggestion list but for the record...putting a fantastic japanese steel sword in the hands of any one specific nationality asian, white, black..etc...doesn't mean anything... you could possibly cut that block as close to in half as possible but the real reason it wouldn't cut is because the katana is a SLASHING weapon. you can't axe chop a block with a sword with dispersed weight.. you shouldn't even try to chop with a SWORD that's what an AXE is for

  • serioisly why do all these idiots think being asian makes you a better swordsman??? besides afro samurai all anime is white anyway

  • @volarion Maybe because Westerners never give Asians any credit in movies and entertainment. And replace what otherwise would be Asian actors with Blacks and White people instead? So our comments here on youtube is our Asian revenge!

  • Chuck norris can do this with his fingernail.

  • thats the best way to waste a katana

  • WAS THAT DSP

  • He is pioneer of the industry. All you hater sux. Most of the asians do not use swords better that europeans and americans, I do not know why you think so. Also, he tests the limits of the katanas, so we don't have to do it and ruin our blades. Stop hating and start watching closely, maybe you will learn something. Btw, what can Techi 9260 Spring steel endure, no traditional japanese katana could. I mean in average hands, we all know what Isao Machii can cut.

  • Alright, now make a video where this katana cuts another katana in half- DOWN THE LENGTH OF THE BLADE

  • It's not 2000 Doller is properly like 50doller and that katana is crap try using a good quality one.

  • He probably spent at least $2000 on that sword and it can barely do the work of a $20 splitting axe you can get at Ace Hardware...

  • ... is it me or do i see taht the blade is dull? and use the sword right too and be asain O.o

  • good luck geeting that out retard

  • why not use a axt? rednecks just can't do shit right

  • Comment removed

  • It wasnt made in japan was it no it was made in America so it's weak

  • That can't be good for the blade, stick with cutting things that it can actually cut.

  • @Maxified666 Hes testing the weapon, not using it. There is a difference.

In testing he can and should do any kind of "risky" things for the blade, actually he should test it to the max.

He doesn't give a shit about the blade, his objective is to test it so he can show and sell more of em.

  • @blakan3 If that is the goal, then this is a sloppy advertisement. Good advertisements of blades would be somewhat like Cold Steel, where old men in their battle shorts test the blades to the max, while showing how it doesn't damage the blade at all.

  • @Maxified666 Thats a stereotype, a stupid idea you got somehow.

He took the weapon, and tested it.

A weapon may be tested in many ways, and in many areas, this was just one of them.

Besides, if you check this guy's videos, you will see that, he does videos exactly like that very often.

And yes, cutting bottles may be considered testing.(tho it wont damage the blade)

It is a very good way to test the sharpness and.......

  • @blakan3 It's not a sterreotype, it's a fact, old men with battle shorts, and a lil bit on the chubby side, along with some hardcore battle music testing blades sells better than this video that is cheaply made.

  • The sword i made out of scrap meteal in my back yard can cut better than that.

  • @mynameismatt2010 Show us your greatness. Video or GTFO.

  • @blakan3 Got the camera?

  • @mynameismatt2010 Don't you have a phone or smtn?

  • @blakan3 My phone is from like 2006, the video quality is so crap that it nakes 240p look good.

  • @mynameismatt2010 No1 cares about the quality, as soon as you post a video proving your statement, we will believe you. If you dont, too bad.

  • week, i can chop through more with my bat...

  • @mst3ksanta its pronounced "weak"

  • Chuck Norris can do that with a butter knife...

  • @cooltony51 I think you mean toothpick.

  • No match for a good pistol on your belt.

  • What's with all the anti-white comments in here? Whites created the western world and pretty much everything you take for granted in your spoiled lives...have some respect.

  • @Chris9183 great now youre going to go on about black on white crime statistics and statistics about people in correctional facilities too right? Also about about how the white race is going extinct. lol

  • @RalphyGreene All of which are true, but you've been conditioned since birth to ignore truths that favor the white race, because the white race is evil, and all non-whites are angels to you. Fool.

  • @Chris9183 eh what non whites are angels first of all I live in a place thats 99 percent white I only know one other minority hes black So I cant really make a claim on others. No one said that white people are evil but yeah that is one of the things your people say after giving crime statistics and than you guys know what were thinking lmao.

  • Only an idiot whiteguy would chop wood with a Katana

  • If the guy was asian it would have chopped the block in half

  • @fecto3210 if the block was russian it would have chopped the sword in half

  • @fecto3210 If that guy was rambo Woods/Forests would have dissappeared! x-)

  • it got sharpness, and you got no skill to blow it off.

  • @getovergod YOURE GAY

  • that is not a real katana its some romdom metal that someone put on a hilt a real katna would have reaped throw that wood like it was buter

  • @zdtfdfhgjk You're a fucking idiot.

  • @zdtfdfhgjk bullshit.

  • co za gowno

  • wow real cool the sword barley bad it half way through the wood dumb shit

  • I'm confused as to why there's so many dislikes on this video. Obviously it was a sort of destructive testing.

What, did people think it would be cut clean in half? Ya watch too much anime. Not even a woodcutting axe Designed for this could split that log in one swing.

  • He had pumped up kicks.

  • that feeling you get before you scroll down, and you already know the dislike button will be huge. =D

  • you can try that on chuck norrises head and it wouldnt have a scratch :D

  • you need to be asian to cut that log fully

  • i can do that at 50 feet with a cold steel broadsword (-_-)

  • wood is the winner

  • all of these katana vids are done by fat white guys who love anime too much.

  • @wakeIess So true...

  • @wakeIess you couldnt be anymore right lol

  • i can do that with my bowie knife

    not impressed

  • tem q afia

  • Gay

  • that wood block got fucked up

  • why dose he have to make that sound.thats so wanna be

  • @musemo if u do sounds like he did it releases more power in the blow . its like wen ur in boxing training if u exhale as u jab it puts more power into the punch for more damage

  • @Rush6347 yeah your right. i just get arrogant sometimes.

  • solid woodblock won

  • poor katana Dx i think it's better you cutting bambo

  • Log of wood beats fat clueless guy with Katana sword.

    Samurai roll in their graves.

  • Poor sword :(

  • hahaha man i can link like 5 other videos of fat white guys trying to look cool. there is the one with the machine gun, the one with the shotgun, the one with the slicing knife, one with the cold steel throwing ax, and all the fat ones with the airsoft guns decked out in full camo and gear still living with their moms

  • Another entry in the "fat white man using a weapon" category.

  • Damn that sword is hard.

  • Now, Get it out

  • Some of you morons fail to understand that this video is a stress test video. It was made to demonstrate the quality and ability of the Cheness Tenchi Katana. Paul is the man, he puts swords through brutal testing to see which swords are junk and which ones are reliable for chopping annoying little "trolls" into pieces. Thanks for this video Paul, because of you I ended up buying a tenchi. I love the newsletter too. People are retarded.

  • Gotta love all these people not getting the purpose of the video. So sad to see it get thumbs down from ignorant people who flocked on the word "katana".

  • Ok, ok, katana, I know, japanese sword made by Americans Gods.

But, you know, I can use my kitchen knife like your sword... I don't like it... There are some things, that only in Japan and with Japan people look good.

Go ahead, buy axe and chop this wood properly...

  • @Rhena979 lol, good one :)

  • I don't think the guy in the video doesn't know what the katana is used for. It isn't use to slash lame wood shit u idiot. Beside JVThrillz is right :D that guy is a dumbass, he doesn't know that's for axes!!

  • actually, after a touch of research, 9260 is some good steel for this job. It's carbon, which mean it takes a killer edge. it's only .6 carbon, which allows for some sharpness with no brittleness. Good tough steel. Not the sharpest, but it will get sharper than you NEED it to, trust me.

  • lot's of haters, but I see no one with an actual sword posting. Isn't that easy. The blade didn't bend or break. Not bad steel.

  • Wrong principle of a sword lol..

  • cool! i can do that with a screwdriver!

  • I think it's a great Chop! I mean anyone else wanna show us that hey?! Great job man !!

  • but if this guy was japanese the wood would be cut..... damn fat white guys can't do shit... go back to playing video games in which the sword is where the power comes from, not the person....

  • hey..... nex time try using a axe to cut your wood

  • "AND THATS FOR CALLING ME FAT!!"

  • Solid wood block wins

  • like this if you think they should stick to bamboo :D

  • 1) its a test of the sword

    2) he knows what a rat tail is, if you watch his other videos

  • Not decently sharp for sure and wrong technique... make you fail :D

  • @Kerzouner what the hell do you expect?

man, kids these days think these sword are lightsabers or something. you cant split that log with an axe (well, not a regular one anyway) in one hit, theres no way a mere sword would.

  • Now get sword back out of block Daniel-san

  • i dont know much about the specific details of a real katana, or wat exactly the handle looks like, but is it possible that this guy is just showing off a 20 dollar sword he bought at some sword booth in a flea market?? i just thought katanas had some sort of design to cover up the seam where they reinforced the metal?? lol im probably completely wrong, so if someone knows the answer let me know! please :)

  • @mbphofan Not only is it possible, but with a name like "Tenchi" (Angel) Katana, it's down-right likely. Chances are, this thing has a rat-tail tang that's just waiting to snap. As for this "design," do you mean the hamon? I didn't really notice it in the video, but it's entirely possible that's because of the lighting, angle, and poor video quality. Most wall-hanger swords have them though.

  • @SuperGoliath89 yeah i was pretty certain that if it was real, he wouldnt be hacking into tree stumps with it. Thanks for the reply, i just needed an extra opinion to be sure. And yes, the hamon is what i meant lol, you really know ur shit. i just checked wikipedia and learned how the hamon comes to be on the sword. pretty cool stuff!!! lol at rat-tail tang and wall hangers, funny shit, i havent heard those ones before

  • he did it wrong he didnt swing right. he doesnt know how to swing

  • おっちゃんの踏み込みと刀の振りがおかしい。

    示現流の蜻蛉みたいな勢いでもう一回やってみてくれ。

  • there is only one type of swordsman who can cut a tree in half. the kind that can cut nothing. if anyone knows what i mean, reply, or tell me where this saying is from. it is actually true.

  • @tja17736 i know what you are talking about and here's some advice: stop taking anime so seriously.

  • @GraveUypo haha. believe what you will. but at my dojo, my master has cut a block of wood in half, an then swung just as hard again and didnt even scratch it. it is in an anime, but your the idiot if you think that phrase is fake. (and no, he didnt use a different sword of turn it in mid air)

  • ha ! i can do that with a bush knife

  • was that supposed to be impressive?

  • Part two: Getting the sword out

    Length: 84 hours

  • @GrayFoxGrayFox actually not that hard.

  • Put some back into it lol

  • This fatass isn't worth the sword he's holding. -.-

Sad that such work of art has to be wasted on retarded white fat guys like this one.

  • Ouch, my heart broke when he did that. Poor blade...

  • he did it wrong, or the edge is not sharp enough

  • wow, nice job respecting your blade, douche.

  • @iceydanpowns paul is not a douche.he is a really nice guy who has done a lot for the modern katana industry. this video is part of a series of tests to show the durability of 9260 silicon alloy steel.10xx simple carbon steel or tamahagane will take a set or break in this test. this sword is from the makers cheness. paul has his own line of katanas for 300 bucks that blow anything in it's price range out of the water.i'm not getting down on you, just research him or hit his link.

  • @crazyroosterfist Good one. You actually expect people on Youtube to generally even _think_ before they post? Sorry, mate. Not going to happen =)

  • @DiabolusIgnis i totally agree. i only took time to comment to him because he has actually ask me some legit questions about the swords that paul sells(cheness yamakami).otherwise, you're right,i shouldn't waste my time.

  • @iceydanpowns you are the douche watching videos you don't like.

  • @rogantu How does one know if they like a video before they watch it? :P

  • @KingR3aper hmmm good question, but how about jb videos? people go to those and comment negatively and don't know anything about it.

wait did I just defend the popstar I hate? I hope not!

anyways respect for the blade is nothing, people think too much out from stories and movies.

swords broke in wars, but samurais just took up a new sword without caring for the broken blade.

in the end it is just a tool and the respect you need is the respect to be careful and not hurt yourself.

  • @rogantu ..lol..what the crap are you rambling about? Doing shit like this can seriously damage a nice blade edge. The point being it's a beautiful sword. Which in turn is heartbreaking because it's such a nice sword...and you're breaking it. Like throwing a beautiful vase into the ground.

I don't even know why you decided to run on into "Respect for the blade is nothing" crap. Which by the way is totally bull. Sure it's not like the movies, but the sword was held in a very high regard.

  • @KingR3aper I am currently not aware of a kind way of doing DESTRUCTIVE testing on blade ;-)

  • @rogantu You seem to be currently not aware about a lot of things.

  • In other words, read the description.

  • Now imagine that on your face

  • "TSUIIII!!!11eleven!!one"

  • your gonna break the meguki.... idiot :P

  • i love watching fat white guys do this

  • @larukulunaseas LOL, now that i hear it mentioned, ive come to realize its always fat white guys who do sword demos on TV shows.

  • no need for pause.

  • Don't use a sword to do an Axes job :P

  • @JVThrillz but this is destructive testing, I can't test a katanas strength if I use an axe in its place.

  • @JVThrillz LOL Those damn germanic people were on to something!

  • @JVThrillz Dont use an axe to do a swords job

  • @JVThrillz

haha don't axe questions with swords xD

  • poor katana

  • @yatsuketa

Wow. What a stupid argument. It's like trying to debate whether bicycles are better than motorcycles...

Bicycles are more noble cuz you have to pedal!!!

    Shut the fuck up

  • why screaming sui ?

  • try not cutting dead wood

  • My splitting maul actually goes through a block of wood without sticking in it after 1.5 inches of penetration, then I burn the wood for heat. Silly japs!

  • @SacrificedAlive i would like to see that maul in use

  • @choopdewoot Why? Never chopped wood before? lol

  • @SacrificedAlive you get alot of talkers on youtube. i would just like to see that maul to see if your one of them

  • is this tenchi mayu?

  • What's the purpose of this? A kitchen knife can enter that piece of wood?

  • @ToddsDFStuff what's alarming about having and living by a belief that is more important to you than life and death?

  • @payton13182 your best bet would be to jujutsu him to the ground, then use your tanto on him

  • why did you make a japanese grunt?

  • @farfuckinout it helps with cutting

  • This is just a video of someone chopping wood with a katana. It has nothing to do with guns.

  • now if that was real it would have split it in half ^_^ .. jk

  • @JiraiyaGallantSage my 14th century style sharpened carbon steel bastard sword will slice a 4x4 block of wood cleanly, with little felt resistance.. it would actually go deeper into the log than this katana would... since european swords are better balanced while still maintaining more weight, and therefor more momentum closer to the end of the blade than a katana has (due to better placement of a counterbalancing device)

  • @JiraiyaGallantSage Meaby if the sword as a little sharper and he has used more power to swing it it will have gone deeper in the wood xD

  • @JiraiyaGallantSage no your right with enough force and if the blade was sharp enough it wolud either go in deeper or slice it in half

  • at least we know the katana didnt belong to a woodchuck

  • Thus why axe are superior........ for cutting woods.

  • weak sword

  • @Indigo656 if it holds it's edge that's all that matters

  • Personally i'd rather just shoot someone and be done with it. Far less mentally traumatizing then cutting their head off or hacking their torso into pieces or smashing their faces in. Less chance of getting aids or shit like that too.

'Sides ,like Franklin said, 'those who plow their swords into plowshares plow for those who keep theirs'. Same applies to guns. If you ppl value your freedom, never give up your right to bear arms.
