  • Yeah, it could have been the leg injury. He is reported to have ran a 10.5 100 meter which would make him faster than probably 80% of tailbacks in the NFL. It just looked like he got ran down by safeties when he had a step on them on long runs carrying the ball a couple times last year. Probably the injury and it was probably a faster safety in the Big 12. Some players 3rd gear is affected a little more since you can't move your arms the same way carrying the ball and pads can be heavy.

  • When you look around the league & see so many lousy college resumes for 3rd backs who average 3.5 YPC & under & who run 4.6s and slower, there's no doubt Sharp could make it as a 3rd RB on almost any team & as a 2nd RB on some. The Packers should have won, but TONS of penalties & fumbles cost them. Damn, I hate the racist Bears for cutting this guy and Eric Peterman should have been kept over Rashied Davis too! Lovie called Brock Forsey- a former white RB on the Bears- a "team manager".

  • @Jackflash84 a few teams could use Sharp right now. He would be best as a 3rd down back, Bush is injured for the Saints as well as Pierre Thomas, he could find a spot on that team with his pass receiving skills, although it might take him a while to learn pass protection, they are down to using guys like Betts and Chris Ivory.

  • @dwid1984 When I said his top end speed is more like that of a 4.5 guy- I meant carrying the ball in pads. Contrary to what many fans think- typical speed for an NFL starting HB is about 4.5 electronic at the Combine. JS is a shifty guy who can hide behind the o-line and burst through like a cannon with his 10 yard burst. He's a great receiver too. I think it's a sham that he didn't get a shot.

  • From watching these highlights his 2nd gear is more like a 4.5 guy in pads running with the ball though, but with his low center of gravity and ability to hide behind the o-line and scatback agility and elite burst- he should have been drafted in the 4th round or so IMO. Sharp had a more productive college career than Minor and Kahil Bell and is MUCH MORE EXPLOSIVE. The Bears are idiots for cutting him. My Packers will whip them and their stupid GM and coaches' butt tonight!

  • not sure if were on the same page and if I agree. I do think his initial burst is great, his speed front loaded but I think he is a 4.3/4.4 guy in pads, 40 yard dash is exactly that, 40 yards, after that I would say he is a little slower in the 4.5 range. the clip where he got caught from behind was with his injury, must have affected his cutting ability, the ability to plant his foot cuz noticed mostly had pitches and passes to the outside after it happened where he just had to run straight.

  • So I think his first 20 yards is probably elite with it slowing down after that, would love to see his 10 and 20 yard split times

  • Sharp is faster than probably 75% of the RBs in the NFL. Plus he ran a 4.06 SS which would have tied him with McCluster for the fastest time if he got invited to the combine.

  • I don't think he's quite as good as McCluster. McCluster has unbelievable instincts. But still I think Sharp is definitely an NFL player. He runs a 10.5x 100 meter and ran a 4.38 at his Pro Day. I think he would wind up like Reggie Bush if given a shot in the NFL- a solid runner, but great receiver- overall an above average #2 RB. He doesn't have the added return skills of Bush though. The Bears should have kept Sharp over Minor, Unga, Bell or Wolfe no doubt. Heck even Forte is under performing.

  • @CameronImMySelf why does that matter? you never seen a white scat back before? look up Dickie Post, top 10 elusive runner of all time in the NFL.

    watch?v=X0hCxo73RvA

There have been many others, guys like Danny Woodhead are scatbacks, who hasn't gotten a chance yet despite having the best rushing performance in a preseason game since 1992, I think that warrants some consideration, the Jets released him this year. The Patriots picked him up, probably will wind up like Welker

  • If he were black hed be a 3rd round pick in the draft. Fuck the NFL!

  • and Trindon Holliday got a chance to tryout for an nfl team, he was drafted in the 6th round at 5'5 165 pounds, Sharp is 5'10 around 200 pounds

  • btw Sharp ran hand timed in the 4.2 range, Spiller ran hand timed in the 4.2 range, Spiller was timed electronically at 4.37, so for that non sense "haven't heard of Jake Sharp cuz he may run a 4.3, Spiller runs a 4.2" is just that, non sense. Jake Sharp was screwed out of a combine invite and screwed out of the NFL without a legit shot. Kahil Bell was injured his entire college career, got an invite, ran a 4.7 and got to play with the Bears.

  • @SPSTATECHAMP53 wtf are you talking about, the guy is bigger than most scat backs, did nfl caliber guys like Weatherspoon break him up? no, stop talking out of your ass

  • judging off of this stuff, THIS DUDE IS A BEAST! I love it when the underdog guy whipps arse.

  • doesnt really seem like he is a 4.3 guy

  • @AcrazyG except he is and hes been timed sub 4.3, you are just brainwashed into believing that a white guy can't possibly run that fast, they did it to Don Beebe, couldn't possibly believe he was timing under 4.3 and every one timed him, and sure enough, thats what his time was, he is tied with Dieon Sanders for one of the fastest times, no one believed that Kevin Curtis could run in the 4.3 range etc. I guess these 30+ yard plus plays mean nothing, especially the 50 yard run to the outside

  • yes im implying Sharp is better than McCluster. As for his production, 1100+ yards in 8 games his junior season. Yes the big 12 is an offense oriented conference, but there are some great defenses against the run like Oklahoma. Its not like Kansas is stacked at offensive weapons, their blockers are nowhere close to the level as Ole Miss. So your saying there is no room in the NFL for a 5'11 200 lb quick/elusive 4.3 guy who would be great on 3rd downs? but there is room for a 5'6 4.5 guy right?

  • I mean I look at McCluster's highlights and see some great blocking, and downfield blocking as well. I see Sharp outrunning his blockers, Briscoe not blocking at all and Meier to slow to get down field. A reasonable expectation for Sharp at the next level is a Reggie Bush type role. Bush didn't set the league on fire and wasn't worth 1st overall, but he is a dangerous weapon and is a great receiver out of the backfield as well as return man.

  • Yes alot of the plays weren't designed inside runs, but he has shown vision on inside runs and power to plow through a few defenders in a tight hole. You mention CJ Spiller but I don't recall Spiller being good at running in between the tackles, AT ALL. As for saying Gerhart having no "wiggle" and average speed for a big back, that is ridiculous, he was faster than McCluster at 4.55 and has plenty of "wiggle"

  • Its funny how you come on this channel and only see the faults in these players, and only see the "upside" in the players you like, but don't mention their faults, nor do you mention the upside of these players, you always find some imaginary fault, like "wiggle". I guess all runners like Gerhart don't have loose hips, I guess they can't jump either, even though Gerhart was a top performer with his vertical, as well as Tebow. Change of direction like shuttle and 3 cone was great, also at the top

  • as for the NFL not using the spread, quite a few teams have it incorporated into their offense. Patriots ran shotgun formation 70 percent of the time in the 2007 season, setting offensive records, and you can't say it wasn't spread, because before the 2007 season, Bill Bellicheck sent then assistant Josh McDaniels down to Florida to learn Urban Meyer's system and incorporated it into the Pats offense, minus the running qb aspect, which McDaniels has now drafted Tebow, I guarantee we will c it.

  • and look at a play like at 1:59, straight up inside run, qb under center, typical nfl play, Unlike Bush, Sharp doesn't dance around, hits the hole with authority and even pushes forward after contact for a few extra yards, the blocking wasn't the greatest but he still got like a 7 or 8 yard gain.

  • There also quite a few where he got a nice run on an inside run on the zone read. Their qb wasn't much of a threat to run, not a dangerous runner, had like 100 yards and 1 ypc w a long of 20, so it might as well have been a regular inside handoff. Titans used zone-read last year with Vince Young, who is a threat to run the ball, had close to 300 rushing yards and is dangerous running threat w a long of 44, 5.1 ypc. Its also how Chris Johnson got some of his yards, the zone read n speed option

  • So you are basically going to discredit Sharp because the NFL only has about 4 or 5 different running plays that they use frequently. Talent is talent, would you discredit all of the other runners in college whose team venture outside of those 5 plays? (which most all of them do) Lets see, the inside "tight" zone, the stretch play (outside zone), ,power, counter and some type of draw, usually lead draw, and btw alot of Sharp's receiving yards were on shovel passes, which is a variation of a draw

  • backs in college usually translate well in the NFL, even if they are running spread option plays, in fact some runners have more difficulty running out of shotgun, so I think if a player is talented, no matter what type of offense a team runs, his talent should be able to translate. Are you going to discredit Dwyer because he was a fullback in the triple option, lined up much closer to the line of scrimmage, what about all of the Florida backs like Demps? discredit them too?

  • the problem is the nfl, just like you is scared of something different, whether it be a rb that lacks pigment or different types of offenses. Things are going to change though, whether you like it or not. Its already changed a bit with some of the offenses, like Troy Smith running zone read, the Titans using the zone read and the speed option, Wildcat (which many teams have failed to use correctly, but Miami has it down) The Pats with the spread, we will see spread option in Denver with Tebow

  • and lets not forget the Pistol formation that Kansas City used a little bit the other year with some success, which is actually pretty much what they are running on the first play of this video, a variation of the shotgun where the qb is lined up a little closer, and the rb a few yards behind him, about 7 yards from the los which is where he would be lined up in the I, the only minor difference is the timing of the handoff, the qb got him the ball a little quicker

  • correction, I meant to say, a good deal of plays weren't "traditional" nfl inside running plays

  • actually I remember that from watching McCluster on tv., watching his highlights I can't see a damn thing because of all the weird camera angles, you can't see whats going on most of the time, what type of play he is running, and the same play shown over and over w different angles. The few plays that I could see, most weren't traditional nfl running plays. Maybe I should make my vids like that, weird crazy angles w tons of replays making it look different so ppl don't know what they're look at

  • oh wait, I don't do that because Im not trying to hide anything with the highlights of the players I make, so no weird angles to make you think you are looking at a different play when its the same one, just straight up regular angle so you can tell what he is doing, rather than some weird close up and you just see running. I would even use coache's film if i had it, but this is the best I have. McCluster won't be an inside runner and will probably be lucky if he is half as good as Welker at WR

  • also, on the big McCluster runs I remember, their usually wasn't a safety playing deep. Thats the problem with a passing conference like the big 12, 2 deep safeties worried about the pass, while that might help the blockers up front, it doesn't help for big gains as it is 2 unblocked defenders. plus nickel and dime guys not blocked well by receivers. Some of McCluster's big runs, both S were suckedand were blocked, no guy to beat deep, only from behind. Look at :28 beats a defender with an angle

  • He didnt get drafted for the same reason Toby Gerhart went so late in the draft. He should have won the heisman with his superior stats but instead he is the fifth running back to get drafted. Im not saying he'll be a great back, all im sayin is that a white back has to be mind blowing to even get noticed. Its the same way with all skill positions but quarterback. Whatever I guess this is pay back for slavery.

  • I wonder why this guy didn't go to the nfl or even the nfl scouting combine?

  • The most underrated player of the draft. Damn what a steal this guy would have been.

  • he might have ran a 4.37 40 at his pro day but he doesnt have 4.37 football speed

  • @louiestylez your an idiot, you can tell on the film that he has 4.3/4.4 speed on the field, he even ran a 10.6 in the 100 meter dash, which is elite for a football player. Look at the second play, 50+ yards on a shovel pass, WITH A HURT FOOT. Very next play 50+ yards bounced to the outside for a td, nobody catches him, not even with an angle. Next play 60+ yards while weaving in an out of defenders. Next play 30 yard wheel route where he burns the db.

  • Sharp clocked by scouts- at his Pro Day- between 4.34 and 4.43. Ran a 4.06 shuttle. Had a 10'4" Broad Jump & a 6.84 3-cone. Quality numbers! The Broad Jump is a good indicator of swivel agility & Sharp would have been tied for 1st amongst HBs at the NFL combine. His 40 would have put him in the top 3- possibly the fastest if he ran a 4.34 there! Spiller ran a 4.35! His shuttle would have been tied for 1st - shows 1 cut & start & stop quickly agility. His 3-cone is tied for 2nd (blend agility).

  • @Jackflash84 corretion spiller ran sub 4.3 they correct all of the 40's that why taylors mays 40 was sooo off...

  • @dhillboy12 Spiller ran a 4.37 at the combine. Sharp has ran as low as the 4.2 range hand timed, and doubt he would be any slower than 4.4 electronically, probably somewhere in between like Spiller llike at 4.35." * Speed Kills: Ed Warinner was quoted by ESPN stating that running back Jake Sharp ran a 40-yard dash in the 4.2-second range. *"

  • reminds me of ahmad bradshaw he could be a really good number 2 back

  • Spiller,Best,Matthews,Dwyer,Mccluster,Dixon,Gerheart,McKnight, Hardesty,Tate...the list could go on Sharp never even past 1000 yards in a season and barely barely averaged 5 yds. for his career thats good but not fantastic for college

  • he has the potential to be in the top ten. He didn't get a chance to start until a few games in of the 2008 season. One of the few 4.3 runners that can run between the tackles. He had over 1,000 yards from scrimmage starting only 8 games in 08. In 2009 he was injured and still put up good numbers. His numbers were pretty good consdering how he was used at KU, he would get into a rhythm they would stop using him. Kahil Bell got a combine invite and carries in the nfl, look at his college career

  • so 1100+ yards from scrimmage, 13 tds his junior season (starting only 8 games) 4.3 speed and the ability to run in between the tackles means hes no good? but you want to put Benn above Shipley when he had 1 season of barely going over 1,000 and had 3tds his junior season. His senior season only 500 yards and 2 tds. Yea your logic really makes sense

  • @dwid1984 No, you're just a fanboy... 1100+ yards from scrimmage starting 8 games is not a lot..

Guy ran a 4.37pro day.. but..he is only 195 lbs.. With a frame that cant handle much more weight.. A "Poor mans Chris Johnson" can be widely interpreted..

Are you saying "He is 'kind of' like Chris Johnson, but nowhere near as good?" then I'd agree

The guy went undrafted... I guess a lot of NFL scouts logic sucks too.. He isn't going to make a dent in the league

  • @ScrollAndKeyBeatz considering he didn't get much playing time, and was misused quite a bit during those 8 games, id say he did pretty well. Kahil Bell got a combine invite, without putting up more than 400 yards in one season, was injured most of his career, ran a 4.78 at the combine and still wound up getting carries with the Bears. Jake Sharp is a giant compared to someone like McCluster or Sproles, his frame can handle another 10-15 pounds.

  • and its not like the the NFL has had a wonderful track record of giving white runningbacks fair chances the past 2 decades, or any white skill position for that matter, no matter how talented they are. Look at how many talented white speedsters were relegated to backups or special teams demons

  • @ScrollAndKeyBeatz btw 1100 yards from scrimage in 8 games would be about 140 yards a game

  • all he has to do is impress 1 team on his pro-day were NFL scouts are going to be and he could even sign as an undrafted free agent. kid has talent, he can run a fast 40, has major league jukes. The reason he didnt do that good last year was because he was injured. He wasnt invited to the combine whats new. He is 5-10, 195 runs a in the 4.3-4.4 range, sounds good to me.

  • Dwid, absolutely amazing! Your best work to date! All those long runs and catches, Sharp looks pretty darn sharp!

    Seriously spectacular video!

  • Awesome work as usual, dwid1984!

  • thanks man, im glad you like it
